Congrats to Anthony Angello, who just scored his first NHL goal on a deflection in front of the net, putting the Penguins up 2-0 on Toronto!

Angello just scored his first NHL goal for the Penguins with a nice deflection through the five hole.

What's so nice is the response from his teammates

Nice snippet on Bliss, now an assistant coach at UMass.  He's a FO specialist; hint, hint, Mike.

My wife and I met Joakim Ryan at a LA Kings season holder event this week.  He got excited when I brought out my copy of Forever Faithful to sign, ad we had some pictures taken together.  He still follows the team, and was great to us and all the other Kings fans...

That sounds amazing. Im a big fan of Joakim Ryan! I went to the kings at the devils game recently and brought his jersey and put it up against the glass during the warmups.

Quote from: Jim HylaCouple of articles on Anthony.

Sports  Size, grit have helped Manlius' Anthony Angello succeed with Pittsburgh Penguins

Manlius' Anthony Angello a hit in AHL homecoming (video)

Of course, the Penguins sent Angello down and waived another guy (the similarly named Andrew Agozzino) to trade for a bunch of older guys and scrubs. Then they lose six straight, because every time they bring in old guys at the deadline, it backfires.

I hope so!

I was going to post this on the Lacrosse 2020 topic, but I didn't want to take anything away from this year's lacrosse team.

So I'm posting this here, in the Alumni News 2019-20 topic. I know it's in the Hockey forum, but it still seems most appropriate.

If you haven't seen this video of Rob Pannell repeating what people were saying about him yet, you should https://twitter.com/i/status/1237016688098529285.

The back story is that he had a contract with MLL and did not transfer to the new PLL while the old contract was in force. Now it's expired, and he's going to the PLL.

My issue with the PLL (and maybe it's because I'm old) is that there are no geographic ties to the teams, so I have a hard time establishing a rooting interest in, say, the "Whipsnakes".  Just doesn't cut it for me.

Does MLL have the same bullshit Investor-Operator model as MLS?

That's a veto for me.  It's like rooting for different colors on a Vegas roulette wheel.  It's all just the House.

Now what they need is motorcycles and a banked track...

Rollerball!  When the movie came out I thought that could be done under "Madrid rules."  An exhibition was actually played in the Munich Olympic field house at the conclusion of filming.
