That's a veto for me.  It's like rooting for different colors on a Vegas roulette wheel.  It's all just the House.

Nogw what they need is motorcycles and a banked track...

Rollerball!  When the movie came out I thought that could be done under "Madrid rules."  An exhibition was actually played in the Munich Olympic field house at the conclusion of filming.

Rollerball

The article had an interesting aside.  The movie was set in 2018.

So where's my rollerball league?!?

So I just learned (via a facebook farewell message from the team) that Justin Krueger's time with SC Bern is at an end.  Apparently they announced back November that they wouldn't be renewing his contract after this season.  Apparently he's still a free agent.  Here's a recent article (in German) https://www.blick.ch/sport/eishockey/nla/papa-ralph-hilft-scb-verteidiger-krueger-auf-jobsuche-id15806551.html "Papa Ralph helps SCB Defenseman Krueger on the job hunt".  Some highlights: Justin Krueger played eight years for SCB and won three Swiss Championships, including last year.  "My heart belongs to Bern" he says, but as the article points out, his future is elsewhere.  With the NHL suspended, Sabres coach Ralph Krueger is acting as his son's agent, and he's in talks with two or three teams in Switzerland.  There's no talk of moving to Germany, so Siddharth and I will have to shelve our fantasies of him playing for Löwen Frankfurt or Adler Mannheim.  Justin and his wife Eva have two kids now, including a two-year-old daughter with (according to her father) a mean slapshot.

Surprising that Yanni wasn't the first signing, but I guess size matters to some.

Good for him!  Congrats, Yanni!

Shame I won't get to see him play.  LV doesn't play the western teams.

I just saw a Lehigh Valley Phantoms PSA on PBS39 that had several players, including Reece Willcox, thanking essential workers

surfing through the Direct TV guide and see that game 7 from the 1993 conference finals between the Toronto Maple Leafs and LA Kings is on the NHL Network.

There is a Kent Manderville sighting.  The Video is very much like some of the Cornell videos via ivy league network and the others before it - herky jerky. So not so weird to watch.

1993.... I have fond memories of that spring. I was a very naive and optimistic 20 something grad student at Cornell. Now I'm pessimistic and cranky.

11 straight losses. That's all I remember.

Anne and I were at each of them.

I was giving a noted Cornell hockey program figure a lift back to the hotel after the loss in Troy and we passed Brian walking down the side of the road, and he said, "you missed."

Play him at defenseman. He can't be worse than Jack Johnson.

Still pissed that Jacob MacDonald didnt make the roster for the Avalanche albeit coming so close.  :'(

And during today's Dallas-Calgary game, Pierre McGuire mentioned a few of today's hockey birthdays, which included Brent Brekke,
