I know it has been beaten to death in this forum, but I happened to catch the tail end of an episode of The Office (US) and the Cornell connection was obvious. In the last minute or so of the episode I saw 1) Cornell pennant  2) Cornell diploma and most significantly: 3) Cornell hockey figurine.

Thanks, brought back memories.  After I brought a car up to Cornell my sophomore year, I'd drop Harry off at his home in the Bronx on my way to Long Island.  I think he "busted out" our junior year.  He started out in Architecture, then, as I recall, sojourned a while in Arts and Sciences before leaving for good.  BTW, many of us took the bus to NYC our freshman year, which went through Scranton, PA — "30,000 Pounds of Bananas" was a Chapin staple. He appeared in a Barton Hall concert with Phil Ochs and Eric Weisberg in support of Ramsey Clark in the early 70s.  He was killed in 1981 when his VW was rear-ended on the LIE.

One of my faves.  Of course, I grew up about 6 blocks from that hill, so I'm biased.  

And FWIW, coming down that hill on a 3-speed bike is terrifying.

James Moss, the awesome Psych 101 professor and nationally renowned sleep researcher, talked about Harry often and also used his music to teach.  "Flowers are Red" is a powerful example of how a set-in-their-way adult can completely stifle a kid's creativity.

Moss knew Harry well.  Harry worked for him, studied with him, or at least was a TA for him.  I can't remember exactly.

Jim Maas was the TA when I took Psych 101 in 1961-62, so he probably didn't get a faculty appointment until around 1963.  Harry left Cornell about the same time and never graduated.  Apparently, the lack of a Cornell degree didn't stifle his music career.

Maybe they were TA's together.  They may have also been friends.  I know Maas knew him and worked with him in some manner, because he told the class.  It seems it was when Maas was a professor, so they may have stayed in touch.  I just can't remember the specifics.
