Schafer Named Finalist for Spencer Penrose Award

Not that it's a surprise, since every conference COTY is automatically a finalist.

And yes I posted this same thing on another thread. Subtract it from my total, if you must.

Here's a CHN commentary about how goalies are often overlooked for Hobey Baker consideration. It mentions Galajda.

That's a spectacularly stupid article, but I've never understood the point of the Richter.  They should just ditch the award entirely.

In case anyone was wondering or didn't already see, Schafer lost out to Notre Dame coach Jeff Jackson: http://www.uscho.com/2018/04/03/notre-dames-jackson-wins-spencer-penrose-award-as-division-i-mens-coach-of-the-year/
Is next year here yet?

Probably due to budget issues, but some of these CHN articles look like they were posted as written without any amount of editing. Not as blatant as the stuff on USCHO though.

(Before adamw or anyone reads this the wrong way, I spend a ton of time on CHN, especially the stats page, and love how great a resource it is.)

There are very big sites, 10X, 100X the size of CHN or the lax sites, that make do with little or no editing. Every site is cost-conscious. Online advertising just doesn't match print advertising.

Quote from: USCHOThis is [Jackson's] fourth trip to the Frozen Four with Notre Dame and second in a row.

The runner-up for the award was Ohio State's Steve Rohlik, who also led the Buckeyes to the Frozen Four.
Plus the Golden Domers won the women's basketball tournament. The rich get richer.

Last one for the season:

Galajda gets Eastern 1st Team All-American. First CU freshman. Only Eastern AA outside the Boston area.

The ECAC dominates the 2nd team.
