Cornell released the official list of recruits for the fall, including Gavin Stoick, who returns to Ithaca after a year with the Green Bay Gamblers.

I don't know if the Stoick news was posted here yet; I ran a search and his name didn't come up at all, which is... odd.

Stoick returning (to play forward) was discussed a few times, most notably in a CU/Clarkson game thread :) Default search is only 30 days, you need to hit the dropdown to go back further than that.

I wonder what happened to Mitchell Vanderlaan? I hope his commitment just pushed out a year.

FWIW, BRP list Vanderlaan as a 2015 recruit

Feels kinda similar to the 2003-04 incoming class (if you substitute the USHL for the BCHL).

Observation: No draft picks in this class

Concerns:  The forwards in this incoming class aren't big scorers

Optimism: The incoming goalie could be good

While there are no draft picks yet, a few of the guys may be late round picks in this summer's draft.  Also, keep in mind that Union won the NC with only one draft pick on the roster (of course he was one of the best players in the country, but still ...)

Regarding the forwards, Tschantz was a pretty big scorer for the USHL champs, so perhaps he can help fill the hole left behind by Ferlin.

I'm guessing that in goal it will be a fairly open competition between Gillam and Stewart, with Gillam having the inside track based on experience.

Multiple guys who might get a not-the-answer thread. That's progress.

I listened to the podcast of Schafer's interview discussing the incoming Freshman class on the ESPN station in Ithaca. A couple of tidbits:

1.  He expects an open competition in goal between Gillam and Stewart, and believes they are both excellent goaltenders.  Says Stewart is a bit of a late bloomer like Scrivens.

2.  He said that Tschantz was going to play another year in the USHL, but when Ferlin signed with the Bruins, they felt the need to bring Tschantz in now.

Fat Tschantz!
