Quote from: martyFerris State vs. Cornell will be rebroadcast tomorrow, 4/5 at 1PM on ESPN-U.  This will hopefully include the beginning of the game which was preempted during the live broadcast last Saturday.

Thanks, that will be a nice compact way to record it.

Too bad we can't find the Princeton game.

Here are the number of games per team on UNOSN:
[5] Nebraska-Omaha
[3] Maine, BU, Denver, Yale
[2] Notre Dame, Harvard, Cornell, BC, Wisconsin, Union, North Dakota
[1] Army, MSU, CC, Princeton, Dartmouth, Quinnipiac, UNH
All the Ivies save Brown represented, a reasonably savvy omission given the team.  No love for RPI, Colgate, or the North Country, which is odd.  Also seems to continue the fantasy that people care about Yale.  Perhaps it's difficult for production to get there, but substituting one of Yale's "rivalry" matchups—Harvard vs. Yale or Yale vs. Quinnipiac—for RPI-Union or SLU-Clarkson seems a no brainer.

I'm sure a lot of it has to do with equipment transport/travel costs and getting agreements with host universities & facilities as well as any regional media rights (the absence of the big media draws of rodents/wolverines shows that).  It has to be a more complicated process than just cherry-picking whatever games they want to show and barging down the doors with 3 trailers full of equipment.

That said, given NBC's obvious interest in promoting Notre Dame anytime they can (after all, a long time ago, they were once actually good in football!), I'm surprised (and pleased) that only 2 of their games are on the schedule.  Someone there knows that there's an interest and advantage to showing a larger geographical cross-section of the sport.

I found it interesting that only three of New York State's ten collegiate teams are represented. The omission of Clarkson, RIT, and RPI seems odd considering they actually have loyal fanbases and decent geographical followings. The inclusion of Union (at Messa) and Army (as much as I love the service academy sports) does not seem to make sense. Sure, Union had a Frozen Four appearance, but how many people want to watch that game outside of Schenectady and small Union alumni circles? Were I to choose a Union game it would have been Union-RPI at Houston. Easier to film and includes a program with a much larger geographic following than either Union or Army. At least we are not in the position that Minnesota is where inexplicably its four programs that would be eligible for NBC Sports coverage are ignored (the Gophers have a supposedly rigid exclusivity agreement with Fox Sports Minnesota so their exclusion was all but a foregone conclusion).

Wonder how annoying it will be for NBC Sporst to broadcast twice from Lynah. Last season at the Colgate-Cornell game it seemed that the CBS Sports crew was annoyed with the tightness of the confines and lack of some modern media amenities.

Maybe they'll buy us new lighting.  It would probably cost about .0002% of the NBC Sports budget.

FWIW, RPI-TV will be live streaming all RPI home games for free this season.

Thanks to RPI bandie RKarger for the picture which was posted on USCHO.

That's worth at least $7 for the fans who will watch. More importantly, the gold standard in ncaa hockey streaming gets to broadcast games live again.

But free is better. :)

As students come and go, the quality could change. If the director who decides which camera should be on shown at any given time is not that good, the product could deteriorate. It certainly has been excellent in recent years.

Actually, the way we pick crew is more along the lines of, "Who wants to direct this game?" and "Who wants to be one which camera?" A couple of us who put a lot of effort into making our productions as proffessional as possible did graduate this year, but I think we left things in good hands. Also, I am still a bit involved, even 200 miles away. I am setting up and managing the the streaming this year.

Thanks everyone for all of your kind words over the past few years. We never did post anything here, but we have kept an eye on the posts and we appreciate all the nice things you have to say about us. :)

Am I reading this correctly that you are speaking of RPI TV?

?For Redcast the similar question would be who's stoned tonight? The only thing I'm not sure about concerns whether the incapacitated worker mans the camera or is in charge of the connection.

CBS Sports Network announced their college hockey schedule this week, which piles on zero more ECACHL televised games this season.

In a coup designed to restore balance to the brand-name universities and anger NBCSN, Notre Dame plays in 6 of 18 games slated to air on CBSSN.  So that's good, since I certainly need more Notre Dame overhyping.  ::barf::

I really hope someone from Redcast reads this the way someone from RPITV clearly has been.
