Cornell chewing up the Binghamton U Bearcats 7-0 midway through the second quarter, in Binghmaton. 5-0 after 1 including an empty net goal and 1 with about 5 seconds to play. Binghamton finally gets on scoreboard with 3:27 left. Now 7-1.

Webcast has no announcer audio, just wind noise and an occasional fan (press box fan?) berating the officials.

Half: Cornell 7-1. Shots 20-12 at the half. Kyle Harer in goal, saved 2x3 in first half. Rob Pannell and Ryan Hurley, 2G, 2A each. Nice to see non seniors scoring in case anyone's looking at Cornell's chances now and in the future.

Third: Cornell up 9-1. Let's hope everyone gets a chance to play. Max Seibald makes it 10-1. Voice off camera from BU press box: "Oh, my god." Cornell run makes it 11-1 with 7:45 left and BU calls time. Is Cornell that good or Binghamton that mediocre?  End of third: Cornell, 13-2. Pannell and Hurley 3G apiece, Harer 9x11 saves in goal. One 2 penalties on Cornell so far.

Fourth: Wish the hockey team had this kind of explosiveness the last 2 weekends. Now 14-2. Binghamton fan utters her fourth of fifth "OMG" within earshot of the microphone. Now 14-3. BU has a goal in every period but one now.

Final: 18-6 Cornell. Pannell 3-4-7. Harer in goal, 15x21 saves. Cornell shooting, 18x32. [edit correction]: Harer was 10x14 and Matt Martinez was 5x7 in the last 8 minutes.

Binghamton may not be much of a test, but Rob Pannell seems to be giving this team what it needs on offense:  a playmaker.  He's scored or assisted on half of Cornell's goals.

Here's a good example of the efficiency of RedCast and Cornell Athletics:

Hello,

We sincerely apologize for not assisting you with your problem sooner. Cornell had not notified us that they were streaming the event. We are working with them now to fix this problem. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Pannell (freshman) is 3-4 on Cornell's first 12 goals. Trying to recall how heavily recruited he was. Bio says he was only All-LI second team:

Quote from: http://www.cornellbigred.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=10470&path=mlaxAt Smithtown: Pannell earned three varsity letters at Smithtown HS West, earning All-American honors as a senior captain. He set the school record and led Long Island with 130 points (49 goals, 89 assists) in 2007. As a senior, Pannell earned his team's offensive MVP award and was named to Newsday's All-Long Island second-team. He was also the 2007 offensive MVP of the Suffolk County Exceptional Senior Game, and earned the Lou Antonetti Family & Service Scholarship Award. Pannell was named All-Division as a junior. He also lettered once each in football, basketball and golf, earning Academic All-Division honors in football as a senior.

it continues to amaze that cornell does not have anyone responible on hand for any event that they broadcast to make sure issues are dealt with.

Doesn't surprise me at all, given my experiences trying to deal with the SID.

Did the audio outage affect 5,000 Cornellians, 500, or 50? I bet it's a relative handful. It sounds as if the fault was not today at gametime but a week ago.

Fans who love the color brown::yark:: flocked to Bethlehem tonight to see Brown nip Lehigh 13-12.  Seven saves vs. twelve goals-allowed for Brown's hot-shot goalie, Jordan Burke.

It was nice of CU to play a game on Bingo's home turf since they always seem to travel to Ithaca. Duke could learn something from this gesture.  How many times are we going to play in Durham before they hoof it to Ithaca? Then again maybe we shouldn't press the issue considering we seem to own them down there.  Kudos to UVA for doing a home-n-away.

Duke reciprocity would be nice. Isn't Cornell's disproportionate presence in Dixie owing to the weather and spring break. But, yes, 1 in 3 wouldn't be bad.

Germ

Weather could be a factor but I'm sure if Duke was willing to make the trip up we could squeeze them in for some time in April.  And speaking of Duke's schedule...I think they only have two road games this year.  How can that be??

This just in: Harvard 9, Duke 6...@ Duke.  Nice.

Technically 4 games (not counting the ACC "Tournament"), but 1 is a neutral site game v. Dartmouth on LI, and the other one is just down the road.

Duke's 2009 LAX sch.

As to "how can that be?", I think this thread (and others like it from previous years) offers a partial explanation.
