I have announced to a tearful audience my retirement from starting game threads (after starting the new year 0-4-1).  The only requirement for maintaining the game thread is to update the subject line with the current score, and list the goals in the top post.

Here is the record of all game thread starters for this season:

2-0-0 1.000 billhoward (Harvard, Clarkson)
1-0-0 1.000 cth95 (Colgate)
1-0-0 1.000 ganderson (at Yale)
1-0-0 1.000 profudge (at Princeton)
1-0-0 1.000 TShen (Union)
1-0-1 0.750 mhand06 (at Brown, at Clarkson)
4-5-2 0.455 Trotsky
0-1-0 0.000 redhair34 (at Quinnipiac)
0-1-0 0.000 scoop85 (Wayne State 11/25)
0-2-0 0.000 Rita (Dartmouth, SLU)

Well, I will not be doing the gamethread tonight, so the boys have a chance :).  My corn field is getting busy and I'll be out there until ~ 4 pm HST.

Aloha! and Let's Go Red!!

One senses a bad outcome to the 2006-07 Big Red hockey season if I have the leading record among thread-starters.

Killer

Be that as it may, you have 2 big wins this season.  If you're available, I nominate you for tonight's game.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing.  He got us, arguably, two of the three (along with UNH) most important wins of the year so far.

If he loses tonight, we can always sit him tomorrow. B-]

Only if I'm allowed to predict a shuto -- whoops, sorry, woofing gods.

And, yes, I'm tan (spent the week in Scottsdale in the sunshine test-driving the new Mini Cooper), rested (as best you can on a business trip where free liquor flows nightly), and ready (to sit by the fire - I'm still freezing back in NJ after seeing 78 and 82 degree days in AZ).

I've got to lose sooner or later. Only Ken Dryden can go unbeaten all season (him and that Cropper kid who must've been the backup), and 1970 was a long time ago.

I'm not sure you understand how to play this game...:-)

So where's the game thread...??

Why, that's the secret to beating the game thread superstition... no game thread.

profudge

Bill,   I'll start it about  6:30 PM  if  you don't -  just to give you an out,  or if you are busy  :-P

Like Mike Schafer, I'm recovering from minor surgery after last night. In my case let's call it an extraction (foot - mouth). Having fallen to 2-0-1 as a game-thread facilitator,* perhaps it's time to rotate out. Maybe Dan DiLeo is free. - BH

How minor is this surgery? Coach doesn't even make the 3-hour trip this weekend? I wish him a fast recovery, but that seems to be far from the truth at this point.

He's entitled to some privacy even if family and friends and perhaps players know the condition. At the same time, if it comes out, so be it. I'd like to know a little more about what's affecting Mike and a bit less about what did in Anna Nicole Smith. (People magazine must be annoyed she checked out this week when it already had an awesome cover story prospect in the astronaut love triangle.)

No surgery is minor. :-/
