Re: Cornell Men's Lacrosse 2015 - 9 years ago
Agreed much like the basketball team-Many shots on goal but subpar shooting percentage. I think at one time they were 51st in the country in shot percentage. Again Cornell has shown an inability this season to establish an inside offensive game and the attack outside of Donovan was subpar.by rss77 - Other Sports
Re: Tough times for Cornell athletics - 9 years ago
Mollie Marcoux, the Athletic Director at Princeton (And Ithaca NY native) made a statement a couple of months ago advocating for football participation in playoffs. I doubt she would have said that without permission from the "higher ups" at Princeton. Never say Never I say.by rss77 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell 6 @Brown 15 (final) MLax 4/18/15 - 9 years ago
As Howie Borkan mentioned on the radio Cornell could not get an inside scoring game going and it has been a recurring theme in the latter part of the season. Borkan also mentioned that goalies are haveing career days against Cornell and I would agree with him that the shot placement has to be a factor this season. Kerwick has some issues to address before the Princeton game next Saturday.by rss77 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell 9 @ Harvard 10 lax - 9 years ago
Again another tight game with Cornell's offense winning all the statistical categories for the score and the turnovers. Turnovers have really plagued the team this season plus the offense really appears stagnant with pass, pass, pass, outside shot going wide or high, the goalie making the save on goal, etc. Kerwick may need to look to his bench to give the offense a kick start. Certainly not blby rss77 - Other Sports
Re: Basketball 2014-15 - 9 years ago
Wonder if part of the reason they are keeping Courtney are the financial problems on East Hill. The $57 million in cuts that have to be made across the board definitely affects athletics. Doanhue will do well at Penn. There is always an element of luck in recruiting. Yes-Dale, Wittman, and Foote fell into his lap but he had other pieces in place in the supporting cast in players like Jon Jacqby rss77 - Other Sports
Re: Basketball 2014-15 - 9 years ago
Two of the main issues with Cornell basketball this season is lack of a true point guard and lack of another inside scorer to complement Shonn Miller. Devin Cherry is giving his best effort out there but lacks the vision to be a good point man and unfortunately don't see any other options at the point beyond Galal Cancer. Basically Cherry is a 2 guard playing out of position. IMO recruiting aby rss77 - Other Sports

Archer has the team going in the right direction. Of the 3 qbs thought Jatis, the freshman, showed the most zip on his passes.by rss77 - Other Sports

I believe David Archer lives in Horseheads which is about 30 miles away.by rss77 - Other Sports
Re: NCAA lax - Cornell-Maryland - 9 years ago
Poor wing play on the face offs has plagued the team since the 9-0 start. If Tesoriero could not pick up the ball cleanly we just weren't going to get possession.by rss77 - Other Sports

Sloppy play and a lack of discipline as in too many penalties.by rss77 - Other Sports

Agreed and the point I was trying to make. The hand held clock is not working this season.by rss77 - Other Sports
Re: Harvard at Cornell lax 2014 - Har 14-9 (postgame) - 10 years ago
Credit to Harvard but this game pointed to one of the weaknesses of the college game which is the faceoff. The rules committee needs to look at some reforms which would negate faceoff advantage. I think a 45 second shot clock would be a step in the right direction.by rss77 - Other Sports
Re: 2013-2014 Basketball - 10 years ago
Here is the thing about this season: The team was making the same mistakes on defense at the end of the season that it did at the start of the season which was the following: No sliding over by players to help on interior defense which let opposing players drive to the basket No rotation off of double teams thus leaving guys on the outside for wide open threes It leads one to believe thatby rss77 - Other Sports

Matthews had a great day but at times holds onto the ball too long rather than throw it away. Too many penalties and turnovers.by rss77 - Other Sports
Re: Colgate 41 at Cornell 20 football - 10 years ago
Getting tired of these annual beatdowns by Colgate. The defensive line got manhandled all day. I looked down at the line play from the Crescent side and saw the Colgate o-line pushing the Cornell d-line two yards deep as soon as the ball was snapped. Some stupid penalties did not help either. Would like Archer to instill a little more discipline in his team-too much pushing and shoving after wby rss77 - Other Sports

Re: Ivy lax tournament 2013 - 11 years ago
Sanschagrin was getting beat on low shots and bouncers which I am sure where Yale will be attacking him. Red could not beat him up high. I was disappointed with the defensive effort. How many times were Princeton guys getting wide open shots?by rss77 - Other Sports
