Re: Cornell lacrosse 2024 - 2 days ago
Check out Very Rusty explanation on the Laxpower as per Princeton against Penn. Was surprised at the way Princeton looked against Maryland-Tillman and Company really has their number. A couple of shoutouts: Totally agree with the comments about Gilmartin-the young man is a beast Also I credit the coaching for their discipline when Kirst was getting roughed up by Penn-no retaliatory hits by thby rss77 - Other Sports
Re: Schoellkopf Field needs to be upgraded to Ivy standards. - 11 days ago
Much less the pathetic shape of the swimming facility at Teagle. I believe some swim events have been moved to Glazer Arena at Ithaca College. At minimum they should be up to standards of the schools in the Ivy and Patriot League.by rss77 - Other Sports

14 Seniors gone Key losses: Boccafola, Petraeus, Wirtheim, Blake, Psyllos, and Follows Surprised that Follows is leaving-my guess is that he did not take a semester break. In one of his interviews Kirst said he was granted a 9th semester. I am sure in the off-season Coach Stevens will be focused on how to improve the defense. Given that the injuries to Davis and Bozzi hurt the ssm defensby rss77 - Other Sports

Also great game by the Penn goalie but much to the defense in front of him. Penn is hard to figure-games against Cornell and Duke-they have looked great but in their losses they have not looked like a playoff team. A bit of a roller coaster season.by rss77 - Other Sports

Just want to pay respects to Coach Buczek on playing 2 offensive midfields and giving fairly equal time. The one problem I had with Coach Tambroni was the way he would double shift his first midfield.by rss77 - Other Sports

Did anyone think that Psyllos was a little worn down those last few minutes at fogo?by rss77 - Other Sports
Re: Men's lax: CU-Notre Dame Sunday 4/14/24 - 4 weeks ago
Goldstein had a bit of a rough game with a couple of turnovers-we forget this is only his 5th or 6th game. Also Notre Dame seemed to be winning groundballs late in game-but Cornell proved they belong up there with the best.by rss77 - Other Sports

Re: MBB: Jon Jaques - 5 weeks ago
Not an easy gig being behind men's and women's ice hockey, men's wrestling, and men's basketball in the winter pecking order but Marnie Dacko made it work when she was in the job-much better track record than Smith.by rss77 - Other Sports

Brown will be a challenge. Not sure when Davis or Wallace will be back this season.by rss77 - Other Sports
Re: Men's Lax Syracuse at Cornell 4/2/2024 - 6 weeks ago
I think he is referring to Dan Miller who is a long-time lax ref in the area so Spallina is engaging in some conspiracy theories. I don't care what the sport is-Officiating is a tough business and it is why there is a shortage especially at the HS level. Miller has coached at a number of schools in the general region-not just Cornell.by rss77 - Other Sports

Check out the Daily Orange article-much better than the Sun's (Yes-Cornell on break, Newhouse school, etc.) but the Sun's sports coverage with the exception has been on the spare side this academic year. Not enough staff??by rss77 - Other Sports
Re: Men's Lax Syracuse at Cornell 4/2/2024 - 6 weeks ago
To quote the guy from Jeopardy: Cornell better "Bring It" against Brown. No Letdown. To be honest: Thought I was seeing a replay of the Penn State game at first. Love the effort Gilmartin shows at ssd middle. Great game and overcame a great effort from the SU Goalie Mark.by rss77 - Other Sports

Agreed-I thought the offense was unstoppable but as others have opined Penn's D clogged up the inner passing lanes after the Red went up 6-2.by rss77 - Other Sports
Re: Men's lax Cornell at Penn 3/30/2024 - 6 weeks ago
The only insight that I have to offer is that the winning goal was scored when the ssd Gilmartin slipped and fell and allowed Rubin to shoot hands free. Just a stroke of bad luck IMO.by rss77 - Other Sports

Re: Men’s Basketball 23-24 - 7 weeks ago
The Formula for success is continuity: We have seen that in Cornell ice hockey, wrestling, and ice hockey where individuals who were assistants or familiar with the program have moved up and continued those respective programs success. Continuity has not happened in basketball save for when Mike Dement succeeded Tom Miller. That makes the case for Jon Jacques IMO.Of course Dave Archer was promby rss77 - Other Sports

Re: Men’s Basketball 23-24 - 8 weeks ago
Also don't forget that Josh Baldwin who was the top freshman last year should be back from recovering from a blown ACL. Hopefully Earl can get a power forward too. As we have seen from the few years-the best way to beat Cornell is to attack inside. Brown University's big guys will be back next year to raise havoc too.by rss77 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2024 - 2 months ago
Per the ESPN coverage-I know it's cheaper for them to have remote announcers but they could have invested in a on site spotter to convey the adjustments made in the respective teams' lineups. E.g. Cornell short stick d-middies- no Chris Davis or Aiden Blake doing shifts, etc.by rss77 - Other Sports

Thought the Prnceton Defensemen did a great job on Kirst so great win with other individuals stepping up. Goldstein is eye opener and credit Jordan Stevens too.by rss77 - Other Sports
