Brown will be a challenge. Not sure when Davis or Wallace will be back this season.

I’m honestly not worried at all. I’d expect us to win by at least 5 and never really struggle.

While that may happen, Brown historically gives us fits so I wouldn't count on as comfortable a win as you predict.

I believe Wallace was in a boot and on a scooter at the 'Cuse game. Based on that look-I'd say he's possibly done for the year. No idea about Davis- just terrible injury luck for the Red with these key defenders.I don't know if it's the turf, a lot of bad luck, or a combo of both. However, they really need the SSDM to step up, w/o Davis or Bozzi. I really think they need to start to recruit better athletes, at that particular position who are bigger and faster- Davis is the only guy on the roster to fit the bill. There are 3 freshman D-poles who never see the field. They seemed to be high level recruits, not to mention Duke Reeder, a Stanford football transfer who was a 4 star Lax recruit to Cornell- never gets in. Maybe need to turn one or two of them into SSDM's and get some size/speed on the field. We are constantly getting beat in the midfield. Hat's off to Aiden Blake for stepping in, but he is out of position (he is an offensive middie),and it shows.Watching the non Ivy teams, its easy to see the type of athlete they recruit, maybe just easier for them w/ less academic constraints. Princeton, Yale and Penn seem to out recruit us every year, at least on paper! We get a ton of smaller, crafty/speedy players that doesn't always translate to the way the game is played now. Losing Cascadden has been the most serious blow to the team.

SSDMs get beat all the time on all teams, not just ours. But the SSDMs can usually determine where they get beat, and that's how to play good defense. If they get beat topside, especially in the direction of the dominant hand of the shooter, it's usually a goal (Penn State about a million times). So if the SSDMs get beat, they need to get beat down the alley so they can get help from the long pole. The SSDM plays with his back to the sideline, lined up on the back foot of the ballcarrier, and drives him down.
On the invert, we've also given up goals from the 5x5 (but also long poles [43]). I'd like to see us slide more often and force the pass rather than giving up easy goals.
I do not buy the high academic standards argument. We've had some of the best lacrosse players at Cornell (Teat, Adler, Pannel). Maybe the most athletic team in recent years has been Yale because they are (or have been) pretty crazy about the weight room. Notre Dame too.
I think it's all about playing the positions well, playing hard, communicating, and so on. We've shown we can do it in quarters and halves. We just need to put together complete defensive games.

The academic standards thing is real though. Much easier to get kids into some of the other ivies than it is Cornell if the grads are not up to snuff.

We're trying to make the perfect passes to the crease attacks. I guess the BrownBear goalie is in our head.

Well, you apparently didn’t know Brown took Maryland to OT, or that their goalie can steal games.

Gilmartin, after getting out of trouble, HAD to get the ball out of his stick. And our inability to win faceoffs is a real problem.

Anybody depressed reading this thread and not watching the game, Cornell ended the third on a 5-goal run and leads 10-7.
Knust with 20 saves. Theriot (?) with 13 for Brown.

Cornell with 17 turnovers to Brown's 12 is not good despite the win. They have a lot of cleaning up to work on.

Not sure why they were so intent on forcing the ball to the crease attack and letting him get swarmed. But all's well that end well.

Same. Pretty complete 2nd half. Looked good on faceoffs, middies did fine. D seemed good, but Brown had very little possession time.
In no way is this a world-beating juggernaut especially with all the injuries, but they can be dangerous in the tournament, when all cogs are working. Need to get more complete games.

Well the “never really struggle” part wasn’t accurate, but your prediction on the scoring margin was on point.
