Re: Alumni in the Pros - February 2011 - 13 years ago
Jim Hyla Via ECAC Website Nash gets to travel with the Canadiens out west and a piece from The Canadiens' website. The Habs traded a 5th round pick to Anaheim for Paul Mara, so I would think that likely leaves Nash as the odd man out, unless they go with 7 defensemen. Also, in regards to the system he's playing in now, head coach Jacques Martin almost exclusively employs the trap in 5x5. I'by Ronald '09 - Hockey

cbuckser The Canadiens called up Brendon Nash today. Sounds like he will be in the lineup and wearing number 47. 7:30 on VS. He's expected to be paired with Yannick Weber. He played 5 shifts totaling 3:37 in the first. Most of that was in the first half of the period. He only played 22 seconds in the latter half of the period. 2 shots on goal, one shot attempted blocked, one blocked shoby Ronald '09 - Hockey

RichH Rita CowbellGuy And if you didn't already hear, Colin was sent back down to Binghamton. That was more like a cuban coffee than a Starbuck's Grande. I hope he gets another shot at it soon. Well, the original announcement of the call-up on the Senators' site said it was "on an emergency basis to replace Jarkko Ruutu," and seeing that Ruutu returned on Feb. 2, this isn't terrby Ronald '09 - Hockey

They just beat RPI 6-0. 14-0 combined score this weekend against Union and RPI. 5 shutouts in 7 starts now for Lauren Slebodnick. Is is safe to call them a "dream crushing, soul-devouring juggernaut?"by Ronald '09 - Hockey

Iles just took over with a little over 9 minutes to go and a 4-0 lead over Germany. No injury, just to get some experience. EDIT: On NHL network for anyone who isn't watching but see soon enough to put it on. EDIT 2: He didn't make a save. 4-0 team USA final.by Ronald '09 - Hockey

World Junior Championships 2011 - 13 years ago
Andy Iles named to the 29-man roster that will gather in Albany on December 16. The roster will be cut down to 22 by December 22, but they only named 2 goalies, so he will be on the final roster barring injuries. He will likely backup Jack Campbell. Obviously, this means he will miss the Florida tournament. The gold medal game is January 5, so he should be back from the Princeton/Q weekend.by Ronald '09 - Hockey

Re: Cornell 5 Princeton 1 - 13 years ago
nr53 A friend of mine was one of the refs for this game and said Cornell pretty much dominated (though I guess you could see that from the score). I was at the game. I didn't think we played that amazingly. We looked a little sloppy, but we just had so much better ability to skate, stick handle, pass, and shoot than Princeton, we were still able to win 5-1. ugarte RichH hockeychick470 I wish they'd finalized this earlier... I'm not going pay to change my train ticket back to NYC after the holiday for Colgate. Especially after I moved it when they started talking about it and changed it back when it looked like it wasn't happening. This time, the price jump just isn't worth it. Re: Alumni in the Pros - September 2010 - 13 years ago
Moulson just brought the fishsticks within 2 (4-2) in Newark at 14:28 second period. No tv, but I'm listening to the Devils' radio feed on WFAN.com. Yeah, I'm that big a Devils fan to listen to a radio broadcast of a preseason game.by Ronald '09 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - September 2010 - 13 years ago
Josh '99 I think it says something about Cornell Hockey that I don't think of Brendon Nash as being particularly big (without doing any research, 6'3" seems to me to be pretty typical for Cornell defensemen) and the two Habs fans quoted both described him as such. Well, if you look at the Habs, anyone that is average sized for the NHL is big compared to most of their roster. Gionta, Gomezby Ronald '09 - Hockey

Jordan 04 New Jersey fans will get a dose of ECAC Hockey as Colgate and Cornell will meet November 27 at the Prudential Center, Newark, NJ. The Raiders have another dramatic holiday matchup, as they take in defending National Champions Boston College in the first round of the Ledyard National Bank Classic, December 30. This seems overly harsh, even if Princeton was a big disappointment lastby Ronald '09 - Hockey

Re: Cornell Recruit Andy Iles playing this week! - 13 years ago
Campbell starting today. Iles dressed as backup, Gothberg a healthy scratch. EDIT: Campbell gave up 3 goals on 17 shots in a 8-3 victory over Finland. A final statistic in terms of games played/dressed: Campbell: 2 starts, 1 backup Iles: 1 start, 2 backups Gothberg: 1 start, 1 backup Not sure if that means anything, but it seems to indicate the order is Campbell then Iles then Gothbeby Ronald '09 - Hockey
Re: Cornell Recruit Andy Iles playing this week! - 13 years ago
Rough game for Gothberg and Team USA, losing 4-1 to Sweden. He gave up all four goals on 28 shots. From the live blog, it sounds like he had a pretty rough game overall. That's got to help Iles's chances of making the final roster. Not sure who will be in net tomorrow against Finland. That's the final game of this camp. Box score: Game blog:by Ronald '09 - Hockey

Re: Cornell Recruit Andy Iles playing this week! - 13 years ago
Iles saved 18 out of 21 shots in a 6-3 victory over Finland today after sitting as the backup when Campbell saved 24 out of 27 shots against Sweden in a 6-3 win yesterday. I'm assuming Gothberg will get the third game (Friday against Sweden) after being a healthy scratch yesterday and being the backup to Iles today. The final game is Saturday against Finland again. Iles made it through first round of cuts (down from 42 to 28 - 3 goalies left). Does anyone know if they carry 2 or 3 goalies on the final roster? I'm assuming Campbell will be the starter. Don't know anything about Gothberg. EDIT - sorry forgot to attach the link to the current roster:by Ronald '09 - Hockey

ebilmes jts15 More speculation on Nash... I think the more realistic attitude is seen in other recent stories about Nash, which have expected him to compete with several other Canes prospects for the two open spots at center. As much as it would be nice to see him jump straight into the third line, I think that's a little ridiculous. Do people really think Riley will play centre in the NHL?by Ronald '09 - Hockey
Re: Riley May Be Traded - 13 years ago
ebilmes This seems to hint that Riley wasn't crazy about playing in Oklahoma City, but maybe Albany would be a more attractive AHL team for him. Of course, he has no shot at playing for the Albany Devils next season unless he gets traded again.by Ronald '09 - Hockey

RatushnyFan There's no way that Calgary or Dallas win the Stanley Cup without him. The Devils might have, but he certainly had a big impact before he was hurt. Injuries are part of the game but probably hurt him far more than most, he lost a lot of games/points from '94-'00 during the height of his career. Re: Potential NCAA Rule Changes - 13 years ago
If their intent is to increase scoring, wouldn't a simple change that doesn't really screw anything up be to be more strict about goalies freezing the puck when there's no players on the other team around. Either giving them a delay of game penalty for doing so, or better yet just not blowing the whistle and telling the goalie to put it back in play would significantly decrease the amount of stoby Ronald '09 - Hockey
