Re: 2019 ECAC F Women: #1 Cornell vs #2 Clarkson - 5 years ago
The worst player on the ice is not better than Rebecca Johnston or any number of players from then. Trotsky Good start with Cornell getting the better of position early. Both teams are really talented and have strong playmaking and skating skills. The worst player on the ice is better than the best player from 10 years ago.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Men's & Women's Awards 2018-19 - 5 years ago
Derraugh is Ivy COTY, and O'Neill and Bourbonnais are first-team all-Ivy. Mills, Zandee-Hart and Boissonnault are second team. Zandee-Hart and Bourbonnais also will play for Team Canada at the world championships, along with Johnston, Jenner, Saulnier and Fortino.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Incoming Recruits - 5 years ago
upprdeck can they even have recruiting contact at that age? I think as long as the recruit is making the initial contact? The whole NCAA recruiting thing is a ridiculous sham.by Weder - Hockey

ugarte scoop85 Trotsky scoop85 billhoward The excitement is building. Cornell has a youthful veteran coach not much older than Sean McVay. Small thing: The 17-0 CU run is since Syracuse took a 2-0 lead Tuesday. I found it somewhat interesting that CU threw everything it had at RPI on the power play in the last minute of a 4-0 game (in what I assume was a bid to get Kristen O’Neill the hat trick). I don’t have a problem with it, but it seemed a smidge out of character for a Doug Derraugh-coached team.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 18-19 - UMass payroll - 5 years ago
I believe staff had to be hired before 1983 to get the full tuition benefit. Not sure about the date for faculty. I attended under the 100% benefit, but CU always managed to find $1,000 or so each semester in “fees” that were not covered by the benefit. If I remember corrcectly, the fees might have been partially covered by the New York State TAP grants I got.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Cornell football 2018 - 5 years ago
Ken711 Wait, the women’s lacrosse team uses the *visiting* men’s locker room at Lynah? That’s just a room with some hooks on a wall, isn’t it? I sure hope the writer is mixing up that locker room with the old CU men’s or women’s locker rooms.by Weder - Other Sports
Re: Exhibitions - 5 years ago
redice I wonder what's going on with Jeff Mallott? He's struggling to get ice time. He played in the Red/White game and I think that's all. Coach said he'll be back next week, but why hold withhold playing from a good player? The Daily Sun reports that he had a minor injury.by Weder - Hockey

Re: Where are our Alumni Playing Now - 5 years ago
Trotsky abmarksNot surprisingly, he wears #25. Kent was 21. I don't know what Kim was, but the sum is what he should wear if he comes here. Unless it's > 29. Non-goalie uniform numbers greater than 29 should be banned. Gah, he's committed to Colgate. (But congrats to the Manderville family.)by Weder - Hockey
Re: Denver Post Guide to Coors Field - 6 years ago
billhoward Much gnashing of teeth among media savants, mostly saying it's the lack of copy editors. Not so. Most copy editors couldn't tell Coors Field from the USS Constitution. Nor the design major art director whose sports IQ is basically knowing who LeBron is. It's the lack of some grizzled old sportswriter who'd spot the mixup in a nanosecond. It’s ridiculous to say that only a sportswriteby Weder - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: ILDN is gone - 6 years ago
I'd think that ESPN+ would carry whatever the individual schools are willing to provide. They're trying to vacuum up enough content to hit every person out there who will cough up $5/month. The vagueness in the press release probably has to do with differing broadcast capabilities at each school's venues.by Weder - Hockey
Re: ILDN is gone - 6 years ago
CU2007 Maybe I missed it but did it say every hockey game will be on here? I saw every football game mentioned. From : Men's and Women's Ice Hockey: Every Ivy League conference-controlled regular season game held at an Ivy League institution arena will be available, with the majority exclusively on ESPN+.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2018 (and beyond) - 6 years ago
Scersk '97 David Harding marty Hell, I'd trade a lot for this too. A friend had given us tickets, so my wife and happened to be at this game. It's a interesting week in Chicago when the two biggest sports stories are an accountant and a nun. His database page is an instant classic. If you watch the saves, you can tell he's getting into a groove after a slow warmup; his rebound control wasby Weder - Hockey

Re: Bracketology Starts - 6 years ago
upprdeck I have talked with ESPN about the tv issues and crowd issues as well and thats not the answer i got in either case.. the fact they are even looking at this switch is completely crowd/ticket related. The Lax model may come into pay as well. I wouldn't be opposed to the lacrosse model if it eliminates the week off between the regionals and the semifinals. Jim Hyla Women's Division I PairWise Rankings I have no idea if this is accurate. Well actually I have some idea, it's not accurate. Why they put in St. Anselm is beyond me, but trying to switch to Comparison layout is all screwy. Hopefully they'll correct it. Re: Injuries - 6 years ago
ugarte BearLover Whether to post about injuries mentioned in Schafer's weekly letter is a practical, not ethical, issue: we don't want other teams finding out. Obviously Schafer stating the injury situation/the Sun publishing it renders this conversation moot, but I have gotten the sense that when Schafer says something in the weekly email or at a Coach's Club meeting, but doesn't disclose it outby Weder - Hockey
Re: Bracketology Starts - 6 years ago
CU2007 Trotsky Cornell needs to start "hosting" Albany regionals, whatever that bullsh-t entails. Ideally hosting would be banned, but while we still have this stupid system we might as well use it. What are the criteria for a host city? There’s an AHL rink and lots of hotels in Syracuse, Rochester, etc. Elmira? Binghamton? Looks like the arena needs to seat 5,000 and be "by Weder - Hockey

Re: Women's Team 2017-18 - 6 years ago
Swampy USCHO has a very nice article about the Women's team. The players over the past several years have all talked about how close the team is, and I figured it was just athlete-speak, but this sounds like there is something different going on here. That’s great to see.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Women's Team 2017-18 - 6 years ago
ugarte Veerman was suspended for 1 game for the charging foul in the game against Quinny but it didn't matter as Cornell beat Syracuse 6-3. Also of note: O'Neill already has the CU career record for short-handed goals (7) after her ENG.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Miami 12/1-2 - Online Streaming - 6 years ago
Trotsky Swampy Trotsky > Users with the 4th generation Apple TV can download the NCHC.tv app from the App Store on their Apple TV device. The fuck am I supposed to do that? My Apple TV device is a tiny little transceiver with a tinier, littler remote that gives me a menu of Netflix and about 8000 other options on it, but I don't see anything about downloading apps to it. Trotsky Any idea how long Donaldson is out? Also: is Cairns a healthy scratch -- when Smith went down v Harvard I got a very uncomfortable sense of deja vu. Cairns is in the lineup tonight, but Starrett is out. Lineup has been shuffled tonight, with Connor Murphy making his season debut and Matt Cairns making his collegiate debut. ugarte upprdeck they spent a huge amount of time in review, considering the goalie ended up in the back and the net was off and the ref ruled no goal and the red light came on, who knows.. i dont think anyone could have possible seen the puck with 5-6 guys in the crease, you never see the puck when the get up so who knows if the goalie had it.. also strange to not see princeton guys jump up argby Weder - Hockey
Re: Red-White - 6 years ago
RichH I had to leave early on, but I heard the scrimmage was cut short after a bad on-ice injury. Ah, now this makes more sense: Our sports medicine staff have confirmed that Brianna Veerman is home and all tests were negative involving neck and spinal injury.— Cornell W Hockey (@CornellWHockey) October 22, 2017by Weder - Hockey
