Re: Women's Hockey 2014 -cheaper when WICE wasn't popular - 10 years ago
I got a response from Steve Hagwell. In it he said that the women's ECAC championship game will be streamed live on ESPN3. Only the semi-finals will be PPV on America One. Does Clarkson (or Q) provide free audio for women's hockey? I would listen to the audio for that, and then pay for the Cornell video.by Rita - Hockey

Not our alum, and to play the "oh my god, I'm so old" game, Martin St. Louis is reported to be taking his act to Broadway. I remember him being so quick, stopping on dimes, and easy to find on the ice (at least from the stands, defensemen would probably disagree).by Rita - Hockey
Re: Cornell Lax vs Canisius 3/4/14 - 10 years ago
mountainred 19-6 final. The Big Red emptied the bench for the entire 4th quarter. Barry mentioned that many players on the team had the flu and/or flu-like symptoms. It seemed like the perfect game to get anyone able into the game and not overtaxed or overextend anyone feeling under the weather especially with a game Saturday v. Virginia.by Rita - Other Sports
Re: Women's Hockey 2014 -cheaper when WICE wasn't popular - 10 years ago
The ECAC will now charge us to watch the women's semi-finals and finals. IIRC, they used to be streamed free of charge. Games are $9 each. No word on any post-season discounted package. Guess it is time for my annual email to Steve Hagwell. Saturday's semi-final game times from the ECAC site. Trotsky I hope ILDN streams our senior night next weekend. I wouldn't count on it. Maybe we can ask (beg) them during the week? I sent an email about that and Jeremy Hartigan said it is the plan to keep the video running during the Senior Night ceremonies. But it can't hurt to send additional emails. <jlukach@cornell.edu>by Rita - Hockey
Re: Cornellians in the Olympics, Winter 2014 - 10 years ago
Trotsky billhowardnot Cornell men representing Team USA. Ouch. Finland 5, USA 0 for the bronze medal.Well obviously if Cornell men had been on the team, the US would have won gold. Patrick Kane certainly did a good impression of a male Cornell hockey player. Ouch. Two missed penalty shots. In one game.by Rita - Other Sports
Re: Olympic hockey on the internet - 10 years ago
I was (am) at work and only able to hear part of the 1st period. I had a meeting with someone and I had limited internet access and was busy and couldn't follow any of the game until the very end (OT) and that was from espn's live chat feed. The game is on my dvr (if it went the full OT and shoot-out, I was going to be in trouble). I'm sure NBC will show the OT tonight anyways. sounds like itby Rita - Hockey

Olympic hockey on the internet - 10 years ago
Slightly off topic, but for those stuck at work, and unable to avoid the spoilers until you get home to your DVR or unable to live stream the video, the men's hockey game (and women's gold medal game v. Canada) will be broadcast on Sirius XM channel 92. For non subscribers, you might be able to sign up for a trial subscription. Otherwise, maybe today is a day to take a long lunch . jeff '84 Ben saves 35 in oilers 2-1 win at MSG. Sounds like whatever "stinger" Ben got on Saturday wasn't serious. I was catching up on my podcasts and listening to NPR's "Only a Game" (2/1 episode) and Ben got a mention for his 59 save game. He definitely has gotten more than his 15 minutes of fame from that game.by Rita - Hockey

Alumni in the Pros_ February 2014 - 10 years ago
Ben's shut out streak comes to an end in Boston. Late in the 3rd, Boston winning 4-0. Ben took a shot near the collarbone (according to the Edmonton radio guys) in the 3rd. He stayed in the game, but then Edmonton quickly gave up 2 goals. Hope Scrivens is okay.by Rita - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the pros - January 2014 - 10 years ago
Trotsky Scrivens on Oilers TV. Coincidentally, the next sequence in the same show featured some great footage of Dryden. Remarkable, the Cornell connection was not remarked on. Ben also got a mention on PTI (1/30). I heard on the podcast, so don't know if Kornheiser and Wilbon had any interesting graphics to go along with the shoutout for the shutout.by Rita - Hockey
big ten hockey on Sirius XM - 10 years ago

The Sharks attempted 100 shots on the Oilers net, all told. Damn. Oh, and Taylor Hall had a goal and two assists. Whatever. And there is video. And the NHL.com recap. It's the system.by Rita - Hockey

Jim Hyla RichH Jim Hyla Today's edition. I like it a lot. Guh, why? Considering how we do against elite goaltenders, I'd like to avoid Gillies as long as possible. Because Witt of NE is also very good, and if we get buy either of those, I'd much prefer Q over BC. I think it would be a better path to FF. phillysportsfan Rita IIRC, NBC actually does a pretty good job with curling coverage. I think they turn CNBC into "the curling network". Which reminds me, I'll need to clear out some space on that DVR thingy. And if you come across these dudes while channel surfing during the olympics, you have found the curling station (or lost footage featuring Project Runaway's runner-ups). Yesby Rita - Other Sports

Scersk '97 Part of the fun of the Winter Olympics, however, is rooting for the US athletes who compete in sports in which we are underdogs, like biathlon, cross-country skiing, curling, luge, and ski jumping, or relative underdogs, like alpine, bobsled, and short-track speed skating; indeed, we are at least relative underdogs in most non-television-contrived (i.e., freestyle "skiing"; sby Rita - Other Sports
