heykb I'd be content to alternate the MSG game. BU in the odd numbered years and Michigan/Wisconsin/Minnesota in the even years. I'd love to see a tradition develop where we play Wisconsin. Besides they wear red/white. It can still be Red Hot Hockey... Cornell hold most of the cards in this. Playing in MSG has to be a big draw, but we've shown that our fan base is able to fill the Gardenby Swampy - Hockey
Re: Estero ELF meet-up? - 12 years ago
Rita Anyone going to the tourney interested in meeting up after the first day's (Thursday) games? There is a T.G.I.Fridays nearby that is one of the few places in the area open past 10 pm. Don't you just love Florida? How's the early bird special?by Swampy - Hockey

Chris '03 While we're drifting, Harvard cracked the top 25 this week. The AP notes: Harvard is the first Ivy League school to be ranked since Princeton cracked the top 10 late in the 1997-98 season. I coulda sworn there was an Ivy team ranked in 2010. ETA: Though perhaps I, like Bill, have a bad memory and didn't remember that Cornell only cracked the Coaches poll T25. Re: ECAC as we go into finals - 12 years ago
sockralex Iles is an emergency backup (not attending camp) and Ferlin is on the roster. Ferlin will be missed but this is a great opportunity for him. It's great to see two Big Red players being regarded this way. One among the country's top 3 goalies in his age group and one among the top twelve (15?) forwards in this age group. I suppose other schools are also represented. How do weby Swampy - Hockey
Re: Consecutive shutout minutes at Lynah? - 12 years ago
RichH gatefan As a Colgate fan with what I think is a sense of reality, the whole Colgate-Cornell thing is something that has been mostly pushed by the administration and has trickled down to athletics throughout the years. They are the ones who have an inferiority complex towards Cornell and the Ivy League in general and from the moment you step on the Colgate campus as a freshman they try to seby Swampy - Hockey
Re: ECAC as we go into finals - 12 years ago
Trotsky I've got faith that we are creating enough quality scoring chances that the goals will come. After the first few games the focus was to shore up the defense and, man, did they ever. "It's a long season and you have to trust it." I've coached other sports but not hockey. Nonetheless, it's hard for me to imagine that Schafer didn't devote a tremendous amount of time on defenseby Swampy - Hockey

jtn27 KeithK jtn27 billhoward Did anybody in Section B see him crack a smile? Know his story? Also, I don't know if he personally smiled, but all the Clarkson fans celebrated when it ended in a tie. How pathetic. Pathetic? A tie on the road against the first place team in the conference is a pretty good outcome. You kind of supported what I was trying to say. Re: Not a goal? - 12 years ago
Chris '03 ajh258 oceanst41It was nice to see the creativity on the rush (not just by forwards either, Ryan had a great rush down the left side of the BU zone at one point). Ferlin, for a big kid, can really handle the puck, and his curl and drag on the 1 on 1 early in the game was a good example. They can rush but they can't pass or get juicy rebounds... Still not good enough for the big times.by Swampy - Hockey
Re: Screw BU - 12 years ago
Trotsky ugarte TrotskyPresumably both schools make more money by scheduling every two years at MSG. If it was going to be annual it would make sense to do every two years at MSG with the middle year alternating between Lynah and Aggannis. Personally I'd prefer to leave it as it is, and on the off-year rotate through other "lost" rivals as practical (BC, UNH, Providence, UVM, NU...) Iby Swampy - Hockey
Re: Screw BU - 12 years ago
Trotsky css228 Al DeFlorio css228 I heard that RHH might not even be renewed after this edition. I find it hard to imagine BU would commit to playing every year if they can't even commit to playing every other year.See Adam's comment on this subject in the "Not a goal" thread posted eight minutes after yours above. Re: Not a goal? - 12 years ago
css228 toddlose Yea we lost (was it expected? Honestly, yes). I took a lot of positives from this game. We dominated at times, as in most of the game. We are a very young team. I was there tonite with a party of 8 and I told all of them we will be playing in the frozen four within 2 years. We are that good. I have no doubt about it. Re: Niagara Sucks - 12 years ago
Al DeFlorio Niagara's two-man forecheck gave us fits after their time-out. Same thing Q did to dominate the first period Saturday night. If BU does that it could be a long night at the Garden. So what do you think the practice schedule is? I'd guess nothing tomorrow or Thursday, something in Ithaca on Friday, and something at the Garden to get used to it on Saturday. Two practices might help,by Swampy - Hockey
Re: New recruit - 12 years ago
Trotsky pfibigerAlso, Cornell got a commitment from Gavin Stoick, 6'3", 215lb USNTDP defenseman from Oregon. He was recruited by BU, Michigan, Yale, Harvard and Cornell.Cool beans. The last OR player to make an impact in the ECAC wasn't too shabby (Derek Gustafson). Robb Cornell is challenging enough even if you don't have a complication like OCD. Best of luck to Philippe in making what must be a very tough decision. Any therapist alums out there living in Ithaca and who might work with PH, MS, and staff to help Philippe? He also should be eligible for disability accommodations. Re: Lacrosse 2012 - 12 years ago
Ben Not the best of showings at the Colleluori Classic, but I went back and checked...we didn't do all that well last year either (and Coach DeLuca wasn't particularly pleased with Cornell's showing). One has to go with what Coach DeLuca says, but the Cornell 2012 forum on Laxpower has more details. Many of the contributors are former Cornell laxmen, so the posts are very knowledgeable.by Swampy - Other Sports
Re: ECACs to Providence? - 12 years ago
nyc94 Mostly unrelated but I thought it worth mentioning the Atlantic 10 will move their basketball tournament from Atlantic City to Brooklyn in 2013. Maybe they're moving because they expect Temple to jump to the Big East after UConn & Rutgers (or WVa) jump to the ACC.by Swampy - Hockey
Re: New Recruit - Ryan Bliss - 12 years ago
Interesting, last month BBall got a commitment from Tim Higgins, reported to be the earliest Ivy commitment ever. Now we also have the youngest recruit in the ECAC. Lacrosse, on the other hand, seems to be going the opposite route, with Cornell having the largest group of post-graduate top-10 players in D-I. Let's hope that extremism pans out.by Swampy - Hockey
Re: Syracuse to the ACC - 12 years ago
Another story on Syracuse going to the ACC in Laxpower. There's a bit of pretentiousness in some of the statements by SU officials. One is the statement from SU's Chancellor and President, Nancy Cantor, who said, "We are pleased that Syracuse adds a New York City dimension to the ACC." It's a safe bet her appointment is not in the Geography Department. Another is athletics directoby Swampy - Other Sports
Re: Syracuse to the ACC - 12 years ago
ugarte Holy crap. I was so wrapped up in what a kick in the teeth this would be for Big East basketball I didn't even think about what this would mean for lax. I wonder if the ACC will try to pull in a sixth program to get a tournament and an AQ. Not that they need it. Rumor has it that Rutgers and UConn are the next to leave the BE sinking ship. So Rutgers would bring the number up to six, andby Swampy - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio CAS Just want us to be competitive in the Ivies. Beat the teams on our schedule. Finish the season with a win over Penn for the Ivy championship.
