JasonN95 Union looks confident and to be the better team. Representing the ECAC nicely through 5 periods. Here's hoping they can do so for at least 6 12. FYP Good Luck Union! Now the Faithful are rooting for you.by Swampy - Hockey

Since we dusted off the Answer thread, I think this one deserves to be revived too. We've had memorable OT games with BU, Michigan, and Wisconsin now. I'm happy with any of them.by Swampy - Hockey

dragonday92 The three goals scored were beautiful pieces of hockey art. They have to play more disciplined tomorrow and not spend so much time in the box. Do ya think?by Swampy - Hockey

Re: Michigan already assuming victoy over Cornell - 12 years ago
css228 Beeeej I've gotta say, that's some really thorough research and analysis. Yeah, a few things which I'll gladly not correct them on. 1) They underestimate Iles. The .918 SV% really doesn't speak to how good he's been the majority of this year. 2) Dutchmen weren't a dominant #1 in the ECAC this year. It bothers me when Union fans say it and it bothers me when Michigan fans say it. Unionby Swampy - Hockey
Re: Harvard 6 Cornell 1 ECAC post-game - attendance - 12 years ago
The Rancor What they need to do is play in a smaller rink, so that they fill it up and create a championship environment. I'm sure there are plenty of worthy 6-8000 arenas (like Lake Placid or Syracuse) available. 10,000 + is just too big for the league right now. (edit: Seems like the Proletariat wants Bridgeport. I support that) Commie!by Swampy - Hockey
Re: Lacrosse 2012 - Cornell 9 Denver 8 3/20 - 12 years ago
Ronald '09 West was our best player today. He made a ton of huge saves throughout the game. I think he's not as good as AJ was last year in the clearing game, but his current play in making the saves is a significant upgrade from AJ, at least how he was last year. That's a tough decision to demote a junior goalie who has started every game the last two seasons, but it seems to be the right decby Swampy - Other Sports

Re: Cornell sports injuries to key players - 12 years ago
Al DeFlorio Bruce Cohen '65 missed the 1964 lacrosse season with a leg injury (break?), stayed on for a fifth year in the Mechanical Engineering program to get a B.M.E. instead of a B.S. after four, and was named first-team All-American in 1966. Bruce led the Ivy League in scoring in 1963, 1965, and 1966, and was subsequently elected to the lacrosse hall of fame. That very much unnoticed anby Swampy - Other Sports
Re: Cornell sports injuries to key players - 12 years ago
This is not a Cornell sports injury, but one that impacted Cornell sports. UVa's Steele Stanwick was plagued by injuries during the 2011 lacrosse season. I would be thrilled if Rob's 2012 season played out the same way.by Swampy - Other Sports
Re: Lacrosse 2012 - Michigan lacrosse plays indoors - 12 years ago
semsox I'm more worried this injury will keep him out longer than 6 weeks, and possibly the season. If that's a possibility, I have to imagine Rob has lots of scenarios going through his head right now, most of them not the best. Beyond healing the injury itself, there's the issue of conditioning. I doubt he can run or even use his leg for much while it's healing. So leg strength, muscle tone,by Swampy - Other Sports

billhoward TrotskyDigit was fantastically entertaining. Given the incredibly low caliber of broadcast ability to come out of the jock club in general and women's hockey (cough Cammie Granato cough) in particular, it was wonderful to listen to her. On the air for NBC she couldn't say enough good things about Teams USA and Canada. History would be kinder if Cammi Granato was a flavor at Ben &by Swampy - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 RPI 2 (ot) - 12 years ago
css228 I guess my frustration is that this team is so close to not just being good, but great, and the flaws that this team has are traditional strengths (PK and 3rd Periods). Its pretty clear that the team plays up or down to its opponent - six points against the bottom three proves that - so if we get past Ithaca in two weeks I feel pretty confident in a deep run. But when I look back on the reby Swampy - Hockey

css228 Trotsky KenP Two questions -- how many 3rd period leads have we blown this year and what is our record in those games? Games in which we have blown third period leads: Game # / Opponent / Result / Notes 1 / Merchyhurst / L / Led 4-3 with 10 mins to go, gave up 2 goals. 3 / at Brown/ L / Led 4-3 with 8 mins to go, gave up 2 goals. 15 / at CC / T / Led 3-2 with 30 seconds to go, gaby Swampy - Hockey

Al DeFlorio semsox reported a 10-3 Cornell halftime lead in the Hopkins scrimmage this afternoon. Another report said Rob Pannell is not playing. Sure would like to see a scrimmage report here on eLynah. There's some info over on the Cornell forum at Laxpower. We seem to have dominated, even without Pannell and some other top players. Re: Kevin Boothe - 12 years ago
Josh '99 4) As far as I can tell from flipping through the official game books on NFL.com, Boothe wasn't flagged for a single penalty all season. Yeah, it's like I said to my friend when the announcer reported that BenJarvus Green-Ellis has never fumbled. "Good, the Giants have the law of averages going for them! He's overdue." Or was that regression towards the mean?by Swampy - Other Sports
Re: Big Red 4-Onion 4 - 12 years ago
Beeeej redbear_71 Ok, 10 freshmen this year makes it a non-rebuiding year ? Missing the point, Schafer is not applying prudence. Even if Iles was destined to be the #1 guy, wouldnt a coach want a good capable #2 developing at what 70 - 30%, 80- 20%, 90 - 10% split? If something goes wrong with you #1 guy, you would have some insurance in place... or is this just too much of common sense? Inby Swampy - Hockey

Ben KeithK Ben He obviously had the right to not go. And I have the right to think he's a dick for not going. What complicates it is that he didn't announce his absence or the reason for it in advance. That's disrespectful and took the spotlight away from his team, which was where it belonged. So it would be less disrespectful had he made a big deal of announcing in advance his decision not toby Swampy - Hockey

Re: Men's Basketball 67 Princeton 59 - 12 years ago
billhoward Doesn't (didn't?) Cornell lean on some rising freshmen with special circumstances such as a family with no previous college history, or a HS with a minority of graduates going to college, to use the summer before for a transition-to-Cornell experience. That seems a good thing. Ditto for getting ahead in general. Maybe I read the Syracuse letter wrong when our son showed it to us, but tby Swampy - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio phillysportsfan scoop85 dbilmes Does anyone know why our schedule changed this year? For as long as I can remember, we opened our Ivy season with a home-and-home series against Columbia on consecutive Saturdays. This year, we opened with a weekend series against Penn and Princeton. I actually like it better this way, but I was curious as to why the schedule was changed. To accommodaby Swampy - Other Sports
