Re: Clarkson SUCKS! - 20 years ago
I think the lack of enthusiasm stems primarily from how easily we threw ECAC opponents aside last year. Now, a lot of the people expect that, and so this season is a letdown. I have a feeling that next year, the enthusiasm will be back. If we go on a hot streak and win the NCAAs, people will be enthusiastic because we can win it all with a non-dominating regular season, if we fall flat, peopleby JordanCS - Hockey
Re: Underhill Starts - 20 years ago
If you read the finalized recap from AP, Matt gets his first quote, and a little more about him: "I just wanted to get it through, get a quality shot," Stoll said. "By fanning on it, I think he misread it because it was going so slow." Underhill, playing in his first NHL game, was expecting a harder shot. "It went off his stick funny," Underhill said. LeNeveu's GAA record in jeopardy? - 20 years ago
I can't help but notice that Maine goaltender Jim Howard is coming awfully close to Dave's GAA record...he's at 1.27 right now, and with a few more 1 goal games could drop below 1.20. How much would that suck to have his record only stand a year, after breaking one that stood for so long? Especially since he's the second string goalie, only starting less than half of Maine's games. Jordanby JordanCS - Hockey
Re: Nick Boucher Gets NHL Tryout - 20 years ago
Yeah...he certainly was (is) a good goalie. He really played his best hockey against us, which is a shame, but he's still one of the only netminders I've seen visibly shaken by our fans.by JordanCS - Hockey
Re: Nick Boucher Gets NHL Tryout - 20 years ago
Well, it was January of 2000, and the fans in section A and B were particularly viscious about taunting the young Nick Boucher (I believe he was a freshman at the time). The entire game, we managed to get inside his head. He was playing a good game, but you could tell that he'd get agitated when we constantly berated him. So, we were down 3-1 with a little over 2 minutes remaining in the game,by JordanCS - Hockey
Re: Nick Boucher Gets NHL Tryout - 20 years ago
NOOOOOOO......I can't possibly have Boucher as a Penguin. As a huge Penguin fan and perhaps an even huger Boucher hater, it'd be so hard to cheer for him in goal. I'd be cheering for the Pens while yelling "Hey Nicky...you suck...I was part of the crowd that scored on you a few years ago!!!" (one of my highlights as a CU fan...I was in Sec A, and one of the most vocal taunters duringby JordanCS - Hockey
Lance Nethery's name in the rafters - 20 years ago
Well...tonight was a heck of an experience for me...I finally made it to a DEL hockey game. My wife bought me tickets to our local team (Die Adler Mannheim), and we went to tonight's game agains the Hannover Scorpions. Unfortunately, Mannheim lost in a shootout...a shame, since they dominated the 3rd period and would likely have won if they played OT instead of going to penalty shots. Anyway,by JordanCS - Hockey
Re: A Different kind of skills competition... - 20 years ago
I find this pathetic. Sorry, I am one of those people who would love to see fighting stamped out of the sport. It would be so easy to do. 1st fight of season = game DQ. 2nd fight = Game DQ and 3 game suspension. 3rd fight = Game DQ and 7 game suspension. 4th fight = season suspension. Plus, add an additional 5 minute major for instigation, if any on top of the original majors. Let's concby JordanCS - Hockey
Re: FISH - 20 years ago
Well, my anecdote...I was tossed during a CU-Brown home game about 4 years ago for vocalizing the "See ya ------- You goon!" I put up a fight (with words, after leaving my seat), but ended up leaving the rink early. Did it work? Sure...haven't used profanity in the rink since. (other than the occasional exclamation to myself when an opposing team scores). I still managed to tauntby JordanCS - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Harvard (sucks) - 20 years ago
This announcer is just a trip (Harvard feed)....worst pun in sporst history: "Bitz kibbles it into the corner."by JordanCS - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Harvard (sucks) - 20 years ago
Listening to the game now...my first radio broadcast for the Red this year...it's 1:27 AM here, but for CU-Harvard, I just have to stay up. Jordanby JordanCS - Hockey
Re: USCHO and USA Today Polls 12-1-03 - 20 years ago
Frankly, I'm surprised it took us this long to drop out of the top 15. We aren't exactly ringing up the wins.by JordanCS - Hockey
Re: USCHO.com and USA Today polls, 11/24 - 20 years ago
Honestly, after our performance thus far this year, I expected us to drop out of the top 15 altogether. 3-2-3 against mediocre competition is not fantastic. Especially the 0-2-2 record at home. Hopefully Schafer can turn things around, but I don't like the way the season is starting. That said, I think we have an extremely talented team, and I think the potential is there for this to be an ouby JordanCS - Hockey
Re: [OT] ALCS: Red Sox vs Yankees - 20 years ago
Well, there you have it....there's the end of the baseball season for me. I was so excited for this year's postseason...the thought of a Cubs / Red Sox WS was so cool. Now, I don't give a flying crap about it. Spring training anyone? I was cheering for the Red Sox, just for the fact that we might have something a bit different this year. I can pretty much guarantee I won't watch a single gamby JordanCS - Hockey
LeNeveu sprains knee - 20 years ago
I don't know if this was mentioned, but I was poking around the Coyotes site today, and it looks like Lenny sat out the first training camp scrimmage due to a sprained knee. Hope it's not too serious.by JordanCS - Hockey
Re: Recruits - 20 years ago
JTW Said: Really? I can get half-liters of Erdinger Hefeweizen at my local supermarket for like 70 cents each. Mmmm....Erdinger. I need to go pick up a new case of beer, and I'm probably going to try and get some Erdinger....I quite like it. Right now, I've got 3 bottles of Park Hefeweizen left. It's ok, but it's not astounding. BTW, you never returned my e-mail....we should get together somby JordanCS - Hockey
Re: NHL Draft - 20 years ago
Wow...we've got an amazing incoming class, it seems. Have we ever had 3 incoming players drafted in round 5 or higher? (4 total) Most of our incoming guys end up getting drafted in the later rounds. (at least, in recent memory)by JordanCS - Hockey
Re: NHL Draft - 20 years ago
I'm just thinking....Murray (and Mark McRae, wasn't he?) was an 8th round pick, and O'Byrne is a 3rd round pick. If O'Byrne ends up better than Murray and McRae by the end of college....we've got a damn good defensemen on our hands.by JordanCS - Hockey
Re: Nieuwendyk on TV post-Stanley - 20 years ago
Wouldn't it be great if he brought the cup to Ithaca during the one week I'll be in upstate NY in the next couple years? (July 5-11, this year)by JordanCS - Hockey
Re: Nieuwendyk - 20 years ago
Sure he made the trip west...you don't think he'd miss the Stanley Cup celebration if they win Game 6 do you? I know I sure as hell wouldn't.by JordanCS - Hockey
Re: "Voices of the Faithful"- New Pep Band CD - 20 years ago
I was all set to pre-order, but then I realized I'd be in Ithaca by the time the CDs would get to me. I'll be in Ithaca for a couple days in mid-July before coming back over to Germany, so hopefully I should be able to pick it up then. I've been looking forward to this CD, that Harvard game was the loudest I can remember Lynah.by JordanCS - Hockey
Re: Central Scouting Final Ranking - 20 years ago
I only went to one game this year, but from reports and stats, I'm kind of surprised to see Hynes well ahead of Moulson in the rankings? Thoughts from people who actually saw them play all season?by JordanCS - Hockey
Re: Jamie Russell - 21 years ago
I think Bâby will probably give the NHL a go before taking any college assistant coaching jobs....since the Thrashers did draft him, it might be a good idea to at least see if he can rise through the ranks in the minors and make it to the show.by JordanCS - Hockey
Re: Dead (or Zombie) Cheers - 21 years ago
Here's another vote for increased "Fight, Maim, Kill." I love hearing that, especially when there's a lot of participation...it just echoes and is a very, very strong statement from the crowd.by JordanCS - Hockey
Re: Pre-Frosh Back Again - 21 years ago
Umm....maybe I'm insane, but I actaully remember seeing the hammerhead shark. It was small, about 1.5 feet long, and I remember thinking "WTF?" Jordanby JordanCS - Hockey
Re: In mourning.... - 21 years ago
Well, I have to admit that I was extremely bummed last night, but after a while, the feeling has worn off. I am just amazed at this team, and they proved by rebounding after a bad bounce and giving up 3 goals that they are championship worthy. The 30-5-1 Big Red team in '03 will still go down as one of the best teams in CU history, even without the NCAA Title. Well, good luck to all the seniorby JordanCS - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four shirts and caps at The Cornell Store - 21 years ago
I'm holding out on Frozen Four gear. I figure I'd rather wait and have a "Cornell University: 2003 National Champions" shirt. If they don't win the next 2, I'll get a Frozen Four shirt. Every time I've purchased the shirt that is less than the big game, before the big game, for one of my teams, they lose the big one, so I'm not jinxing the Red here. Re: Cowbell Etiquette - 21 years ago
All I have to say, Age, is you can't retire that beater until the end of the season. Hopefully it will have 2 more happy games to play at. Jordanby JordanCS - Hockey
Re: SportsCenter Clip of BC Game Winning Goal - 21 years ago
I feel the same way...I think I've watched it about 25 times. Of course, I didn't get to see the game (argghhhh), so it provides a little glimpse of the team I missed most of this year (I was at the season opener at OSU, but couldn't make it to any others). Oh...and I watched the Union game on hockey cam.by JordanCS - Hockey
