Re: Saturday BU updates - 21 years ago
Scott Hansen is the referee - he does games in both the ECAC and HEA. He was also one of the early round referees in Salt Lake City. Given that he officiated the conference championship game last year, the ECAC must think he's one of the better refs in the conference.by kingpin248 - Hockey

Re: mini-game question - 21 years ago
This was the case from 1993 to 1999. Prior to the 1999-2000 season, the playoff series were changed to "best-of-three games," in which all games are played until a team wins. Note the double overtime games in the Harvard/Brown and Dartmouth/Colgate series last year.by kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Brown - 21 years ago
Esdale's cross-check at 60:00 was later changed to a major. No DQ though. Also, collegehockeystats.com lists the first goal as Vesce's, which is consistent with what Bâby said in the postgame interview.by kingpin248 - Hockey

Re: Can the Belt get to Ithaca? - 21 years ago
Slight correction - they could give the belt to us. In the time that the records have been kept, Cornell has never held the belt. The only ECAC school to have it was Clarkson, and that was for only one day.by kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: Mining the Crimson - 21 years ago
Adam - you are correct about WHCU needing to power down. According to radio-locator.com, it operates at 5 kW during the day and 1 kW at night. The information, along with estimated coverage range maps, is at I seem to remember a former WVBR chief engineer saying something about a station coming from New Orleans being the cause of the change in power.by kingpin248 - Hockey

Re: Clarkson On the Hotseat!!! - 21 years ago
The release appears on the University's general site, not the athletic department site. Might not be anything at all, but the fact that the statement comes from Clarkson's president (as opposed to the athletic director) intrigued me slightly.by kingpin248 - Hockey

Re: Clarkson On the Hotseat!!! - 21 years ago
For those who have not seen the front page of USCHO, Clarkson officially terminated Mark Morris today. Adam mentioned this on the pregame show as well. There is nothing as yet on the Golden Knights' official site, however.by kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: [OT] Huh? - 21 years ago
For at least the last decade, the final weekend of the Ivy football season has been Cornell/Penn, Harvard/Yale, Dartmouth/Princeton, and Columbia/Brown. I can't remember what games were going on during the weekend of Cornell/Penn two years ago, but I'd say that even if CU and UP were both 9-0 going into the season finale this year, the self-proclaimed "Worldwide Leader in Sports" wouldby kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: [OT] Huh? - 21 years ago
Fowler and Herbstreit will also be doing the radio show "On Campus" from Penn, 7-9 pm Friday night on ESPN Radio (1160 AM in the Ithaca area, if you're curious). I hope the ESPN folk delve into the Ivy football postseason ban. I personally think it's a stupid rule and am against it. Coach Pendergast has repeatedly said the same thing throughout his tenure here. The justification cby kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: Harvard(sucks) @ Lynah - 21 years ago
I think that should be November 2000. When I saw 9-1, I immediately thought, "they'd (UAH) played ten games before they came to Lynah?"by kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: Yale/Princeton thoughts - 21 years ago
Supermom's son, Sharam Fouladgar-Mercer, wasn't dressed tonight, for whatever that's worth. Somewhat related point: When he has played, the back of his jersey has read "Sharam." I wonder why this is, especially considering that the full last name of Neil Stevenson-Moore appeared on the back of his sweater tonight. Just food for thought.by kingpin248 - Hockey

Re: the more things change... - 21 years ago
The eLynah FAQ provides the following answer to Greg's question: ---- No. In tournaments where there must be a game winner, the organizers can choose to play full overtimes until there is a winner or have a shootout after 5 minutes of overtime. If full 20 minute overtime periods are played, the winning team gets the win and the losing team gets the loss, regardless of how long it takes. Ifby kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: How the blip??? (Football) - 21 years ago
The final was 34-31 in 2 OT. Cornell blocked Towson's FG attempt in the second overtime, before getting to the 2 and drilling a chip-shot for the win. It's the first home win in nearly 2 years (since Dartmouth in 2000) and first non-conference win in almost 3 (since Wagner in 1999).by kingpin248 - Hockey
