Re: NHL favorite team straw poll (End of Week 1: Devils gaining, but Rangers in control) - 15 years ago
ftyuvRita I didn't see the 3rd goal, but just by the very different commentaries of the PBP guys, grey and muddy seem like good words. I guess I wouldn't mind seeing that series go to 7 games, and hopefully putting whoever advances at a disadvantage for the next round. Re: NHL favorite team straw poll (End of Week 1: Devils gaining, but Rangers in control) - 15 years ago
Rita Brodeur was miffed due to a bump by Olliken (sp) on the last shot prevented (delayed) him from getting into proper position for the shot from the point (NJ announcers take on it). Switch to the Carolina PBP guys Brodeur has nothing to whine about since the bump occurred outside the crease and it seemed Marty put himself in position to potentially be bumped since he came so far out. Re: Bitz gets his first playoff point - 15 years ago
cbuckser The rule in the NHL is different from the one in the NCAA. In the NHL, there shouldn't be a penalty if the player gets the puck before the player on his sweep check. In the NCAA, it's immaterial whether the defending player touched the puck. Ah, that explains it. I turned into some of the Rangers game last night, and Ovechkin made a spectacular defensive play at one point to knock thby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: MLax: Princeton 1 @ Cornell 4 (1st) - 15 years ago
Al DeFlorioTerrible to give up possession and then a last-second goal. Should have called a time-out when the ball went into the box. Shoulda just held on to it and tried to get a last second shot. The one problem Pannel has is he can be too aggressive and give up possession on a bad shot or in a bad situation. But as the announcer said, freshman mistake.by DeltaOne81 - Other Sports

rstottIt was interesting to see what nonparticipating school had the most fans based on jerseys. Minnesota seemed to be on top. A lot of North Dakota – they will definitely send a good contingent to Lynah. Also a solid representation from New Hampshire and Maine. (The Maine contingent surprised me after their generally feeble showing at Estero over the years.) A number from Wisconsin, Michiby DeltaOne81 - Hockey

KeithKI love the "can't televise because it might hurt attendance" argument. I can understand how baseball owners might have thought that about radio back in the 30's. But we now have 75 years of data to disprove this silly theory. Was that in response to Center Ice? Considering Center Ice is for out-of-market games, it doesn't really have anything to do with concerns about tv takingby DeltaOne81 - John Spencer Is Dead

Josh '99DeltaOne81For Miami to win at that point would have required a much higher level of flukiness - or a flat our miss by the BU goalie. Not beyond the realm of possibility - I didn't have the best angle on it but Miami's third goal looked like a flat out miss. Agreed. Quite possible in fact. But no less 'fluky' in its own way than that BU goal.by DeltaOne81 - Hockey

Kyle Rose. If it had deflected like a laser off a mirror and tore a hole through the back of the net, I would not be arguing this. Then we'd be arguing the physics of deflection and the possibility of whether it might have been a second puck on the grassy knoll. By the way, in the highlights in the Verizon Center they had a new angle on the UVM OT goal that, well, at least I hadn't seen befby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
