FWIW given how little the poll may resemble the seedings: The USILA poll has Cornell dropping from second to sixth while last week's No. 1 Virginia and the previous week's No. 1 Princeton tie for fourth. In between are unbeaten Notre Dame at No. 2 and Duke at No. 3.

Rank Team Record Points Previous Week
1 Syracuse 11-2 152(4) 3
2 Notre Dame 13-0 149(2) 4T
3 Duke 12-3 148(2) 6
4 Tie Virginia 13-2 131 1
4 Tie Princeton 11-2 131 4T
6 Cornell 9-3 119 2
7 North Carolina 11-5 111 8
8 Johns Hopkins 7-4 103 7
9 Hofstra 11-2 96 9
10 Brown 12-2 89 13
11 UMBC 10-3 86 10
12 Navy 11-4 68 11T
13 Loyola 9-4 62 14

Media poll has Cornell eighth and Quint has 'em fourth, ahead of Duke and Notre Dame, probably because of wins over Princeton and Duke.

The media poll with Cornell in eighth sounds as if, for better or worse, that's closer to where the seeding committee might place Cornell. That really would be a boot in the rear to have to go on the road to start the playoffs.

I wonder if every team thinks it's being shafted by the seeders in their own special way, or if Cornell really is a special case because the Ivy schedule forces you most years to play so many non top 20 teams. At least Columbia isn't playing lacrosse (or hockey) to further mess up our SOS

With six minutes left in the 2nd quarter, Princeton leads Brown 6-0. A Princeton win gives Cornell the Ivy League Automatic Qualifier for NCAA's.

Now 7-0. Shoulda beaten Brown. Interesting that the past two years the home team has won every game between Brown, Cornell, and Princeton--assuming Princeton goes on to win today.

Hopkins 4, Loyola 4, late 2nd. Maryland 4, Yale 4 at the half.

[Edit: Telling comment from Inside Lacrosse's in-game blog at the Brown Princeton game, with six minutes to go in the first half..."The Bears have taken 14 shots, but only one has been on goal."

Brown pulling closer, but time winding down, 10 11-6 Princeton with 5 min left in Q4 (Princeton ball). Ain't over though.
