Comcast gives in - 14 years ago
Wasn't sure whether to put this in Men's Hockey, Other Sports, or JSID, but since it does matter to hockey... Comcast will carry ESPNU ( & ESPN360.com for their internet customers) starting "in time for the start of the college football season". They just saved their hides with me. I was 1 month away from switching to FiOS TV, which is when my Comcast promo expires. Although tby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Empty Desks at Princeton Lacrosse Office - 14 years ago
TimVebilmeshttp://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=4296644 Inside LacrosseOne thing with which to find fault: The Princeton-Cornell rivalry, simmering for years, nearly dissolved in enmity this year. There was a tangible edge when the teams met in a tense quarterfinal game won by the Big Red, 6-4. How exactly does a rivalry between two teams in the same league "disolve in enmity??by DeltaOne81 - Other Sports
Re: ECACHL players in NHL Draft - 14 years ago
RichHandyw2100I know it could never happen, but it would be great to see the Harvard Admissions office come back and say, "We've decided to give your spot in the Harvard University Class of 2013 to someone who actually plans to graduate from Harvard in 2013. Sorry, bud." <Insert Bill Gates quip> Well, Bill Gates did at least *intend* to graduate originally.by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Seibald an All-Star - 14 years ago
Chris '03Boston, Mass.- Cornell alumni (sic) Max Seibald ’09 has been selected to play in the 2009 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) All-Star game, as was announced by the league this morning. The game will take place at Denver’s INVESCO Field at Mile High Stadium on Thursday, July 16, and will be televised live on ESPN2 at 10 p.m. Nothing attracts kids to the game like an all-star game that starby DeltaOne81 - Other Sports

Re: Decade in Review - 14 years ago
Kyle RoseI think the bottom line is that actual people care when the numbers on the calendar change: they don't care about some dictionary definition of "decade" or "century" or "millennium". So, you are both right: Jim in a technical way, you in the only way that most people care about. I'm by no means going to agree that I'm not technically correct We're botby DeltaOne81 - Other Sports
Re: Decade in Review - 14 years ago
Jim HylaOf course the decade is not over till the end of next year. No. No no no. You can say that the "20th Century" is 1901 to 2000, inclusive and the "19th century" was 1801 to 1900, inclusive... but by literal usage of the wording, "the 1900s" are 1900 to 1999 and "the 1800s" are 1800 to 1899, Just the same way, the "decade" is usuallyby DeltaOne81 - Other Sports
Re: Errick Peck-Basketball Recruit - 14 years ago
RichHSee, now this is a good post, Cornellfan. No need to apologize for this one. You gave a useful summary of information, and for people who want to read more in-depth articles, they can go to your blog. This is much better than "I have some hot info on a certain recruit. Visit my blog to find out!" No whoring for hits this time. Thank you, that's all I'm asking. Agreed. Iby DeltaOne81 - Other Sports
Re: Pair of Articles on Hoops Recruit - 14 years ago
Cornell11Why do you care if he links to his blog or to the original sources? You can't possibly be that anal. Its not that. Its that he goes out of his way to ensure we visit his blog. Its a step forward to at least tell us what the link's about. Its still blatant hit chasing, and its annoying. He doesn't want to give us information as much as he wants hits for his blog.by DeltaOne81 - Other Sports

KenPDeltaOne81AccuWeather (I guess because of the reports of 'wind tunnels') confirmed previous evidence that the dimensions are smaller (and points out the fence is shorter to boot). Actually, they blame it exclusively on the smaller dimensions. AccuWeather says, "no consistent pattern observed in the wind speed and direction that would lead to an increase in home runs so far this year.&qby DeltaOne81 - Other Sports

Jeff Hopkins '82Chris '03BeeeejCornellFanThere will be one more "name" opponent added formally (with a great arena). Do you really believe that repeating this builds some sort of excitement? Killer...Let there be a new 86-year curse. I think there's 77 left in the Yankee's curse first. Although I suppose they could operate simultaneously... the rest of MLB would probably appreciate that.by DeltaOne81 - Other Sports
Re: Should the goal have counted? - 14 years ago
The same question was brought up for Max's GWG at the Dome, because he did land with a hand or forearm in the crease. The rule says deliberately, and is intended to prevent Gait-style goals. It counted.by DeltaOne81 - Other Sports

Tom LentoPannell is amazing and I hope for more televised games so I get to watch him play over the next few years. Pannell has noticeably improved by the postseason. Freshman mistakes are fewer and further between. He'll be great to watch. The next Seibald or Greehalgh.by DeltaOne81 - Other Sports

Jordan 04I don't know the rules well enough to understand why the stall warnings towards the end of the 3rd quarter. It didn't seem like we were doing anything different on offense than we have been the whole game. Refs are getting tired of our slow-down style, methinks.by DeltaOne81 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell vs. Syracuse - 14 years ago
RobbI'm just listening, but it sure sounds like we're having to work harder for what we're getting, while Syracuse is able to pounce quickly and convert. Then again, maybe that's just our deliberate style at work. I'd say 2 parts our style, 1 part SU just being that good. The good news: we're up 2 at the half. The bad news: we're playing as good as we have all year, and, score aside, it seeby DeltaOne81 - Other Sports
