Re: NCAAs on TV - 15 years ago
abmarks p.p.s Is there a viewing spot for Saturday in Boston if I want to deal with a crowdied bleepin sports bar and all the basketball asses and standing for 4 hours? Typically its Sports Depot for which the Cornell crowd typically has: a) gotten their own room, b) with only people watching hockey, c) with seats Maybe you should know something about it before you bash it. P.S. No FiOSby DeltaOne81 - Hockey

Re: "Off the Crossbar" today - 15 years ago
andyw2100 Can someone explain to me how this could possibly save anything more than a pittance? The traveling teams are still going to need to pay for a bus and driver for the entire weekend. They're still going to need to pay for the same number of hotel nights. The only savings I see would be the cost of gas to travel between the partner schools. Am I missing something? Well its not justby DeltaOne81 - Hockey

Re: Bracket Predictions - 15 years ago
Jacob '06Northeastern-Cornell is the "natural" pairing. I assume the switch of UMD and Northeastern between midwest and west is more of an attendance thing. Yeah, it is. They had an option between two pairing that were off by one, or one that was 'natural' and the other was that off by two. I would have figured they would have preferred two near-corrects, than one being further off. Bby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Bracket Predictions - 15 years ago
Hmmm, the switch of NE & UMD surprises me. Any thoughts on why? Its an oh-so-slight screw of both Notre Dame & NE.by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Bracket Predictions - 15 years ago
Dpperk29How is that cornell getting screwed? Cornell was terrible down the stretch, and lost it's conference championship 5-0. Had cornell won last night you might be able to say cornell getting shipped out west is a screw job, but right now cornell ought to be happy they are even in the tourney. Agreed. Ugarte was referring to our historical 'tradition' at this point of being sent to Minnesotaby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Bracket Predictions - 15 years ago
ugarteDeltaOne81 The big 'screw job' this year seems to be NE. Its no one's fault, but they were real good for the first time in a long time, end up a number 2 after a very good season, and get shipped all the way to Denver to presumably face DU in the second round in their backyard. So you're saying Northeastern got Cornelled? 'zactly.by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Bracket Predictions - 15 years ago
Jeff Hopkins '82When I did it, I put us in Grand Rapids against UMD and Princeton in Minneapolis against NU, but in retrospect, I think the rest of you are right and I was wishful thinking. Not sure what you're referring to, most of us have that too. It makes the most sense... Assume Notre Dame gets the Midwest as the overall #2, and DU gets the West as the overall #3, then the 'correct' matby DeltaOne81 - Hockey

Re: SLU 3 Yale 4, Final - 15 years ago
Chris 02Ritalynah80It looked like SLU was going to win. The missed a big opportunity when they didn't score during the 5 on 3. They only had one SOG during. Oh well. Yale is a scary team. Those 2 quick goals at the end were incredible. If I'm a team in one of the other leagues, I really don't want Yale in my bracket. Basically you don't want to go to New Haven. Re: Could Cornell be a host team? - 15 years ago
Rich S I've heard plenty of people complain about going to The Rock. The most important thing though is no matter how well the devils play, almost no one in the Metro NYC area really cares about them. It's the least followed pro franchise in the NYC area. To wit, only a handful of rabid devils fans would recognize Brodeur if he was walking down the street. And they rarely sell out for a gameby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Could Cornell be a host team? - 15 years ago
Josh '99The arena itself is nice; as a place to potentially host a regional or a Frozen Four, there's far too little around for it to be an appealing destination. Well, depends on what you mean, although I'll mostly disagree. There's a variety of things to do - people just don't know about them. If you're talking about things to do within hours of a game, just a couple blocks from the arenaby DeltaOne81 - Hockey

Re: Cornell in Pairwise and KRACH - 15 years ago
KeithKBeeeej Yale's a host at Bridgeport. They're not going anywhere but Bridgeport. OK, forgot that. I still think they would scrap bracket integrity to avoid first round matchups. Haven't they (and their listed seeding criteria) explicitly said otherwise? I thought no-intra-conference games was a 'nice to have if possible', but band seeding was a 'have to have'. bizarre Big City Classic ticket pricing - 15 years ago
I'm thinking of going, since its so nearby, but, this has really been confusing me: Ticket prices for 2009 will be $15 for groups of 10 or more, $25 for Lower Level reserved seats and $40 for mezzanine Level seats. Its been that way on sale for Ticketmaster for months, so it seems entirely legit. Has anyone who's ever been to Giant Stadium provide any rationale?by DeltaOne81 - Other Sports

Re: Ann Coulter On Cornell Hockey - 15 years ago
Kyle RoseRatushnyFanI despise Ann. Does the administration have the ability to revoke an embarrassing alumnus' (happy?) degree? Thus making it official that agreeing with the opinions of some arbitrarily-chosen person is a requirement for getting a degree? I agree, although I don't think it would be unreasonable for Cornell to issue a statement rebuking her statement and affirming the value anby DeltaOne81 - John Spencer Is Dead
