Wow, what a homer. If it was a major postseason game, he may give the Holy Cross guys a run for their money. Albeit with an Alabama/Larry-the-Cable-Guy flavor.

Looking better now - SU sleeping on defense on the last two goals. CU 4-3.

Seven saves for each goalie; despite Glynn's dominating face-offs, Syracuse has had the ball most of the game as a result of seven Cornell turnovers.

We're not getting good ball movement on offense. With long ball possessions, Syracuse has been getting guys free. Need some halftime adjustments at both ends. Don't know if we're tight or what, but too many very uncharacteristic, hurried passes on clears. If we don't settle down this will be a long half.

I'm no LAX expert, but it seems like we've been making a lot of low percentage (home-run) type passes on clears/offense, which has led to our man being outnumbered badly, which has led to the turnovers. It seems we need to be more patient and focus on maintaining possession, then developing our "half court" offense a little more effectively.

Seibald, Glynn, and Hurley all without a goal. Cornell really has had no half court offense so far.

The strange thing is Syracuse has been patient on offense while we are rushing things and taking not-very-good forced shots. That EMO did not yield a good shot.

And that was the whole game. It was difficult to watch; sometimes we looked great, our fast break was wonderful at times, the face offs were great at the beginning, but we could not capitalize. The turnovers were the difference, as many were unforced errors. no way they should have been out shooting us when we had that major face off advantage at first. When they shot, they got the ball back; when we did, all to often it was one and done. But I can't say enough about the unforced errors.Al DeFlorio

We got them at a bad time, but helped to beat ourselves.
Having said that SU was a less than gracious host. First the program listed the "Cornell Red Raiders", then all that canned music, ugh. I know they don't have a pep band at lax games, but couldn't they have the courtesy to let our band play without playing the speakers over them?

Yeah, to underscore that, for most of the game we were winning faceoffs at a 2-to-1 clip and getting outshot by a 3-to-1 margin. Doing the math, that means (among other things) an awful lot of turnovers.
Also, Jim, care to add anything about the officiating? It's not to blame for the loss, but it seemed pretty awful to this lacross neophyte.

Yeah, same issues I had with the Bemidji game. There they blew some obvious icing and basic calls. They had to huddle and change their call.jtwcornell91Jim HylaAnd that was the whole game. Here as well, they made some basic errors as well as some questionable ones. I remember the call against us when we kicked a loose SU stick. The call was correct, it was unsportsmanlike, but the fact was they didn't make it till SU complained. There was an offside called failure to advance. The moving pick calls are always difficult, and I never think they are called consistently, so I don't complain, ha,ha. One hitting from behind against SU was labeled a loose ball push and they gave us possession. Great, but the reason we lost the ball was because we got hit from behind and it should have been a 30 sec.
But the bottom line is it was our play that lost the game. The calls were annoying but didn't determine the outcome.
