Re: What's the word on Moulson? - 17 years ago
Marc Crawford is tough on the young kids ........ I would assume that Moulson will spend some time in the AHL to begin with. Very short leash with the young guys, often very short ice-time on a relative basis versus other coaches. I've watched every Vancouver game since 2000 and I think Mark is an excellent coach overall but very tough on the kids. Hope Moulson's stones are oversized.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

French RageCome on, let's look at it as a challenge. I want a chance to see a horribly depleted Big Red still run the ECAC. I want to see a national championship - I can count a frozen four appearance as a moral victory but anything less and I'm losing hair.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Name two tall, strong, mobile trees that no longer reside in Ithaca. All to play in the AHL. Blah. And I had forgiven him for that Minnesota gaffe. Seriously, he will be missed. Bitz is the only tree left!! We can all blather all we want about the new recruits, but it would have been a special team with McKee, Bitz and Pokulok in the lineup next year.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

You're still missing Dan Ratushny's '90 and '91 world junior participation (for Canada) and his silver medal in '92 as well. He's one of the all-time great Cornellians....... P.S. I love the site as well!by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Current Team Members In Pro Prospect Camps - JULY '06 - 17 years ago
jmh30Did it really? Seems to me it took six years of development in the pros before St. Louis really had much success in the NHL, and almost as long for Gionta. Come on, it worked. These guys are tiny and they're great NHL players now. Seems to me like as soon as St. Louis got away from Calgary, he was instantly a decent scorer and soon became a great scorer. Gionta played less than a seasonby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Sasha Pokulok signs with the Capitals - 17 years ago
rediceebilmes“Sasha is a big, strong defenseman who we are excited to add to our group of young prospects,” McPhee said. “His game has progressed nicely in two years at Cornell and we feel confident that he is ready to take his talents to the professional level.” Is it just me, or is "progressed nicely" not the phrase I would choose? Re: Alumni in the Pros JUNE '06 - 17 years ago
Does anyone have insight into the Phoenix Coyotes goaltending situation? I was surprised that they signed Mike Morrison (1 yr $500k contract). I don't know the situation very well but it doesn't seem like much of a vote of confidence in LeNeveu. The GM claims that it's primarily a depth move (http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/index.php?sty=68937) but we shall see I guess.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: McKee Could Dress Tonight - 18 years ago
DeltaOne81I mean, other than Dryden, how many goalies went pretty much straight to the NHL as their first step in the pros? Didn't DiPietro go straight to the Islanders? I know he was sent down later that year, but I thought he went straight to the NHL. He wasn't ready though, and spent most of the next 2 seasons in the minors. Dan Blackburn pretty much went straight to the NHL as well as theby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Re: Hayward Stands Ground - 18 years ago
Avery's own teammates seem to have tired of his antics. He has some value as a player if he wasn't such a head case. Hayward probably shouldn't have engaged him in a verbal sparring match (not very professional) but then again Avery is one of the bigger idiots on the planet so I'll cut him some slack.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: LeNeveu-Eliot comparison - 18 years ago
Sejna had 82 points (including 36 goals) the year that Lenny got jobbed. He was a dominant WCHA player that year and CC had a tough schedule. I think if Lenny posted those numbers this year, he might have walked away with the award. Last year, I don't think that anyone in their right mind was cheering against Marty Sertich. 64 points and <30 goals doesn't win the award many years, but heby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Re: Dividing loyalties? - 18 years ago
Good question. I graduated from Cornell in '92 and went to Michigan from '95-'97 to get my MBA. I was lucky to see two very good seasons, including a national championship and a frozen four loss. I went to all the games obviously, including many on the road. I saw Cornell play at Yost in '97 and took some razzing for wearing my Cornell hockey hat while also wearing a Michigan sweatshirt. martyRatushnyFan65 victories, just 13 behind Dryden. Had a shot for 95 victories. Must have been hard to leave that opportunity behind. Don't forget the Maris asterisk that would be on that stat. Dryden had to sit out freshman year.I know. It will be tough to catch his 3 year record and impossible to catch his winning %. But maybe we can experience a goalie with 90-100 wins someday. Rich - why are you so touchy about Willie Mitchell? He's a bit of goon I think. Seriously. That said, he's a valuable player and I wish he was on one of the teams that I cheer for (Canucks and Devils). What more can I say?by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: McKee signs with Anaheim - 18 years ago
Agreed. So they need to sign someone else then if they can get rid of Giguere. Best outcome is that David plays great in Portland and gets in a few games with Anaheim to get them thinking about him.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: McKee signs with Anaheim - 18 years ago
I simply view him as middle of the pack - wasn't aware that he was that overrated in the first place. I didn't think that they were that good of a defensive club that a 2.60 GAA and 91.3% save percentage isn't decent. That said he's only started vs. my Canucks once this year so I haven't seen him play much. 24-12-11 with 59 points in 49 starts. Re: McKee signs with Anaheim - 18 years ago
calgARI '07By the way, I am almost sure that Giguere will be gone this summer.Just curious why you're so confident of this. Giguere has a lot of OTL's but has stepped his game of late and Anaheim came out of nowhere and is in solid playoff contention now. Their #2 goalie has played 5 games since Feb 1 so Giguere has gotten most of the starts. I don't know anything specific here, I'm just curioby RatushnyFan - Hockey

nyc94cth95Phoenix @ San Jose for two games starting tonight. What's up with the scheduling? A new definition of home and home? You guys been watching the NHL this year? This is a part of the new divisional scheduling effort to reduce travel. I don't think that Doug is going to play again this year - until the Sharks are either in or out of the playoffs. It's just too tight and he's clearlby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Can't get it out of my head - 18 years ago
After watching college hockey for 20 years, the thing that I've come to realize is that great hockey teams lose in this tournament all the time. That should be obvious, but it took a while to sink in for me. It's hard, but you can't let an NCAA loss ruin an otherwise great season. When I was an MBA at Michigan in '97, it took me a long time to get over that loss to BU in Milwaukee. But now Iby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: How Does Yale Spell "Relief"? - 18 years ago
dford'94Does anyone think that Shaun Hannah would have a chance for the Yale job? Coming off the best season in Sacred Heart history he has now been there 10 years and has taken a team with little or no tradition and made them competitive. Beat RPI and Brown this year and played Dartmouth down to the wire losing 4-2. I have always liked Shaun and maybe that is because he always played so hardby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Hobey Hat Trick - 18 years ago
bigred06I'm amazed that Chris Collins was chosen over Ryan Potulny who scored 38 goals ( the last time somebody scored 38 goals was i believe in 1997 by Todd White). You're right. Peter Sejna had 36 in '03 for CC and Mark Hartigan had 37 in 2002. Sejna won in '03 and Hartigan was a Hobey finalist in '02. Dan Ratushny got about 20 penalties in his career that were clean hits where the apparent infraction was that he hit someone too hard. Over the boos of the Lynah Faithful, you could usually hear the piercing scream "FOR WHAT????" from our good friend Dan.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

atb9 Michigan sucks! No, they don't. Look at their record and accomplishments (this season was really the first bad season since '87-'88). Their coach is a great guy. Teams that suck include: Harvard (obviously), Michigan State (lots of talent, haven't done the job in NCAAs for a long time), Harvard (worth repeating), Minnesota (can't stand 'em even though I'm from MN) and BU.
