Re: Recruits 2016 and Beyond - 7 years ago
Jim Hyla andyw2100 I'm by no means defending the kid. You can't go around shoving refs. But to be fair, it looked like the kid shoved the ref about as hard as the ref had shoved the kid, and the ref just happened to fall. It's not as if the kid punched the ref in the face or something. Yeah, knowing me, I might have done the same thing as the kid. Refs certainly can't shove players without goodby abmarks - Hockey

billhoward The lighting at Lynah has hotspots directly under each lamp, perhaps because they're so close to the ice. It may also be that the the main game action camera(s?) are set to autoexposue and underexpose the feed. A camera or video camera is fooled by a light background, the ice, thinks it's not white but a very brightly lit neutral gray and so underexposes. When the ice level cameraby abmarks - Hockey

upprdeck watching him live, he hesitated then waived it off. If he had called it a goal I have no doubt they would have reviewed it. Either way it was real close, it looked funny and sounded funny. CowbellGuy abmarks It's only no goal if there was intent to kick in. There is no provision for this whatsoever. Intentional or not, if it's a kicking motion, it's not a good goal. The only provision is if the player is stopping and that's not what happened here. You are part right and part wrong. I should not have used the word intent, you are correct there. upprdeck this also assume all games after that are never played true? so if by beating harvard then they lose 7 in a row doesnt the value get decreased? Incorrect. As I said above, I was looking at the RPI and more specifically our winning percentage. WP is wins + .5 (ties) divided by games played. Swampy abmarks Road wins and quality win bonus DO make a difference. Quality Win bonus is for teams in the top 20 in PWR. We have three remaining road games against teams in the PWR top 20 (assuming pwr stays the same for the sake of argument) Beating #9 Union is the *best* RPI result and beating #14 St. Lawrence is the second best with a win at Quinny 3rd best. Trotsky According to Elite Prospects, 3 Cornell commitments (Kyle Betts , Matthew Cairns, Cameron Donaldson) have moved to the Powell River Kings (BCHL) over the last 12 months, joining a fourth (Tristan Mullin). Dafatone ugarte Dafatone This means that wins are interchangeable. Sure, had we beaten CC, we'd be better off. Re: Cornell vs. Merrimack 1/7/17 - 7 years ago
Dafatone I think it's important to keep in mind that there isn't really enough season to sort out who is and isn't good. At the very least, not through 10-15 games. Princeton might actually be pretty solid. CC might not be garbage. Etc etc. underskill I meant who cares where that one loss puts us in PWR at this point in the season. Dafatone If there's a kicking motion but it's unintentional, does that still count as a kick? You're right, he was trying to regain balance rather than put the puck in, but to me, he still pushes his skate into the puck. To me, getting away with no kicking motion means either not moving or gliding into the puck without any leg movement. It's only no goal if there was intent to kick in. Iby abmarks - Hockey

Dafatone If I'm reviewing that, I call it a no goal. His foot is stationary, then juts towards the puck. That's enough of a kick for me. But it's close enough to go either way, certainly. You aren't viewing enough of the play if you think that. His foot was NOT stationary. Re: Backhands - 7 years ago
The Rancor Back hands would usually take the form of a wrist shot or snap maybe a sweep/deflection. Slap shot... never. You can't snap a backhand either- that would be really awkward to try. There is one advantage to the backhand not yet mentioned- it's a lot easier to roof a backhand than a forehand- takes much less stick action to generate the lift.by abmarks - Hockey
