Re: Dartmouth AD apology - 17 years ago
I went to the Cornell volleyball game at Dartmouth this year and they had a Native American group sing the National Anthem in their tribe's native language (I forget which tribe it was). I usually am the sole person yelling red at the volleyball games... well when they saw the Native American singing group I first got a look from the Assistant Coach, then my girlfriend, and then a nudge from theby Willy '06 - Hockey

Dude, CT has one of the most lax handgun laws in the Northeast (barring VT which has none to speak of - concealed carry wherever you want, whenever you want, whoever wants to). It's basically a shall-issue state. You have no excuses.by Willy '06 - Hockey
Re: V-ball vs. Princeton - 17 years ago
It's ok. There's clearly a different standard for men's and women's sports with Andy. I mean, my girlfriend plays and I hate to see her given hard time by fans elsewhere, but as long as they keep it somewhat clean I won't say anything. It's part of the game. Then again, Cornell has outnumbered the other teams' fans at almost every venue this year - so we usually just drown them out. Anyways, iby Willy '06 - Other Sports

Unfortunately Dan (the guy with a C on his chest) is in fact a senior. Will, the U, is also a senior. And I, the guy with the red and white striped jacket am an alum but dating a junior on the team (so one more year!) The dancing tradition was started with Pat... a high jumper on the track team... and was much more suggestive. During the Penn game Andy Noel sent someone to first tell us to not taby Willy '06 - Other Sports

The quickest games are aobut an hour and fifteen minutes - a decisive 3-0 win. A 5 game marathon could run about two and a half hours. Last years 5 game win over Yale at Yale was 2:31. So let's hope we are done by 5:15 with a championship in hand!by Willy '06 - Other Sports
Re: As Expected, "Zero Tolerance" For Friday Night - 17 years ago
I happened to be at the volleyball game instead of the hockey game last night. Andy Noel was there for the first hour and he need to get over himself. He sent one of his goons (some ugly lady) to tell us fans that first we were not allowed to repeatedly tell Penn to focus, but it was ok to dance during their timeouts. Then we were told that dancing is now banned too. Finally, the goon came over aby Willy '06 - Hockey

They beat Penn last night in 4 games! Today at Newman Arena at 4 PM they will play Princeton for the Ivy League Championship and the NCAA tournament bid. Hope a lot of you can come out and watch.by Willy '06 - Other Sports
Re: W Volleyball over Harvard - 17 years ago
Great game at Dartmouth! They came out all fired up. I've never seen Bishop and Dyer hit the ball so hard. The game on Saturday is huge. I believe no matter what happens on Friday, Saturday will pretty much determine the winner of the Ivies. There are a ton of scenarios, but if we win out, it's a done deal.by Willy '06 - Other Sports

Thanks to everyone who came. They are now tied for first place with Yale and Princeton. Both we and Yale have lost to Princeton and play them again. It will make for a very exciting end to the season. This weekend: @ Harvard, @ Dartmouth Next weekend: vs Penn, vs Princeton. Everybody come out for the final home games!by Willy '06 - Other Sports

Re: Women's Volleyball - Come This Weekend - 17 years ago
Great game last night! The girls really played their hearts out. Now if they can win out the rest of the season they will be guaranteed at least a share of the Ivy League Championship... a pretty tough task, but if they keep playing the way they did last night it will happen. Brown at 4 today. Come after Football, before Hockey.by Willy '06 - Other Sports
Re: Women's Volleyball - Come This Weekend - 17 years ago
Sorry for the confusion. It was actually about midway through the season. The only loss between the two teams at that point in the season was Yale's loss to Cornell in Ithaca. It seemed pretty clear at the time that this game would determine who won the Ivy League championship. It did, but the end of the season held a few surprises. Cornell ended up losing it's last two games at Penn and Princetoby Willy '06 - Other Sports
Women's Volleyball - Come This Weekend - 17 years ago
Don't miss out on one of the most exciting sports weekends you'll see at Cornell. The Women's Volleyball Team is playing first place Yale on Friday at 7 PM and Brown on Saturday at 4 PM. Our team is currently in 2nd place, and two wins this weekend would put them in a tie for first place with Yale. Some history... Cornell tied with 4 teams to win the Ivy League Championship two years ago, aby Willy '06 - Other Sports

I spent the past four years fishing in almost all the local gorges. For Fall Creek, any flow above about 250 cfs makes it very difficult to cross the stream until you get into the flats down by the high school. The biggest problem is how slippery it gets with all the rock snot. Having come close to doing this myself, I'd imagine that a big problem is when people slip, hit their head, and become uby Willy '06 - Hockey

I was there. It was ugly. I left towards the end of the third quarter when it was 30-3. The offense couldn't score, and the defense coudn't cover the passing.by Willy '06 - Hockey

Last time I checked, there is no value printed on the season tickets. So how does that affect the idea of scalping. Plus, shouldn't one be compensated for the time they invested to get the tickets? That seems only fair. That's the economist in me.by Willy '06 - Hockey
