Re: Union 0 at Cornell 0 First Period - 16 years ago
Al DeFlorioAre you at least connected? I can't even get that. I was getting the buffering bullshit at first, decided to try to reconnect, and now I can't even do that. No response from anyone in tech support, of course. I can connect, but always get stuck in the process of buffering.by mnagowski - Hockey

Re: Cornell's new aid plan - 16 years ago
kroseNot by the accepted understanding of "welfare," which is wealth transfer paid for through coercion, e.g., taxation or tariffs. That's not my accepted understanding of welfare. Welfare transfers do not have to be through explicit "coercion". Consider a child who grows up next to a polluting factory and suffers from asthma for the rest of her life. Re: New Recruit for '08 - 16 years ago
RobbAnd, more importantly, ESPECIALLY for those who come from lower income families, the family contribution is a substantial percentage of that income. Which is harder: to pay $10k per year to go to Cornell if you earn $50k, or $30k if you're earning $125k? Funny, as Cornell has posted scenarios that are pretty close to your speculation. For a student from a family making $50k a year, theby mnagowski - Hockey

Chris '03No way they could match Harvard and Yale obviously but it's something: Hopefully this will help athletic recruiting as well. Maybe not so much against HYP, but certainly against Brown, Dartmouth, and Penn.by mnagowski - John Spencer Is Dead

Re: [Hoops] Early Road Test @Brown & Yale - 16 years ago
Chris '03Columbia beat Yale 71-58 tonight and the Ps swept at home. Now Columbia, Brown, Yale, Dartmouth, and Harvard all have 2 losses already. We'll know a lot more by the end of next weekend. What's most exciting is that this is a young team.by mnagowski - Other Sports

In non-hockey news, Men's Basketball was down 10-4 early at Brown, but then tied it up 16-16, and have now climbed to a ten point lead 30-20 with 4 minutes left in the first half. If they sweep this weekend, they are definitely the front-runners to win the Ivy title. EDIT: It's now 33-33 at the half. Must be pretty exciting in Providence tonight.by mnagowski - Hockey
Re: Hey Band! - 16 years ago
Scersk '97The almost facetious reworking of "I yell, yell, yell Cornell" Would anybody know how the Cornell Yell should sound? I imagine it would be slow-slow (Cor-nell), I... fast-fast-fast (yell-yell-yell), slow-slow (Cor-nell). But I might be entirely off base.by mnagowski - Hockey

Re: Hey Band! - 16 years ago
Full Lyrics: I am dreaming tonight of my old college days. My dear alma mater is with me always. Something is calling me back once again, Back where I want to remain. Oh, I want to go back to the old days, the good old days on the hill, Back to my Cornell, for that's where they all yell Cornell, I yell Cornell. (Cornell!) Far above Cayugau's waters I hear those chiming bells.by mnagowski - Hockey

BMacHmm... are they still active? They're not listed on SAO as a registered organization. They must be one of those special organizations then. BMacDoes anyone know where I can find the full lyrics to My Old Cornell? A quick Google search indicates its probably not online. minSo is it fair to say that the Ivy title is Princeton's to lose? Given that they would need two losses and a tie and Harvard would have to win out? Pretty much.by mnagowski - Hockey
