Re: Johnny's No More - 15 years ago
You can thank the City of Ithaca Fire Marshal for the removal of the sign. The old neon sign was landmarked and thought to be safe from removal. The rooster sign above the Chanticleer bar downtown is another landmarked local neon sign. And it is not disposed of, just in a safe resting place for now. The sign is not in great shape, and it is doubtful that it will be returned to it's formby L-J - John Spencer Is Dead

pman78I think Uncle Joes *is* the place i was thinking of..Thanks for this. Will also keep The Rose in mind if we need a place closer to the hotel... The food at Uncle Joe's is a dissapointing. If you are looking for lots of big TV's and a sports theme, Benchwarmers on the Commons has a larger menu and at least marginally better fare.by L-J - Hockey

For your amusement, an article in this week's Ithaca Times in the Student Survival Guide section: Good for a few chuckles. L-Jby L-J - Hockey

As a note about this event, it is a scholarship fundraiser for the Cornell Alumni Association of the Ithaca Area. Everyone is welcome to attend, and the entire event fee is going to the CAAIA's scholarship fund, which supports a student from Tompkins County attending Cornell. L-Jby L-J - Hockey
Re: Lax Final Four Tickets - 16 years ago
I picked up our tickets this morning, put in my request in person on Monday at the Ticket Office, and we ended up w/4 seats in the Cornell Block, right on one of the corners, 3rd Row. They are for all 3 games. Priced on the tix as $30 Saturday, $10 Sunday, $25 Monday. 3 Individual tickets for each person, one for each day. There were other people there picking up tix this morning, so obviouslby L-J - Other Sports

Re: Ticket Time Discrepancy - 17 years ago
I called the ticket office about this and they replied something like 'many, many pairs of eyes proofread the tickets before they were printed and we obviously missed the price change'. L-Jby L-J - Hockey
More Ticket Office fun - 17 years ago
Got a message on our answering machine today from the ticket office saying that our number has finally come up on the waiting list for season tickets. Problem is, we have had season tickets in our name for 3 years now. Sigh. I guess I'll call them up tomorrow and let them know to pass them on to the 'next' person on the wait list. Hmmm... maybe they're even sending out the e-mail in alphabetical order, mine still hasn't arrived yet. But they did finally cash my check last Tuesday. L-Jby L-J - Hockey
Re: Ticket Price - 17 years ago
Yep, $360 a seat is the general public ticket price. $18 per game for 20 games (includes playoffs). Section M is 'adults'- no standing, less crowd participation in the cheering. Typically everyone knows what is going on in the games though L-Jby L-J - Hockey

billhowardIs swimming in the gorge illegal now or just reportedly dangerous? Yes, it is now and has always been illegal to swim in all of the gorges, the reservior, Stewart Park (gross) etc. I have been kicked out of the gorge near the suspension bridge by the police more than once back in the day... There is nowhere that it is actually legal to swim in the city limits that I can think ofby L-J - Hockey
Re: Cornell school schedule / comedy venues in Ithaca? - 17 years ago
Well, there aren't any proper comedy venues here. There is an occasional visiting comic at some random place, but not really a part of the popular culture around here, so I hope you can find somewhere that works out for you. For bands: In Collegetown- The Nines, as previously mentioned. Don't forget to order the corn nuggets while you're there. The Chapter House (grad student hangout atby L-J - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: price of tickets keep going up !!!!! - 17 years ago
Regular seats $18 per game, up from $15 each last year, a 20% increase if I can divide correctly 20 games including ECAC playoff games $360, 17 games without ECAC playoff games $306 And this year there is a stronger warning of the 'you should really really order your tix with the playoffs included' in there. I don't really know why you wouldn't anyway. Renewal deadline is Sept. 6by L-J - Hockey
Re: OT- when did the Greek House close? - 17 years ago
The family is focusing on their other business ventures (real estate/student rentals) from what I understand. Business had been dwindling at the restuarant for quite some time and they were planning to close when they did. I have always been a Souvlaki House fan myself, but there isn't really a breakfast-all-day diner in C-town anymore. L-Jby L-J - Hockey
