Jim Hyla KeithK <snip> You are welcome to disagree, of course. Of course, but I'm not sure why you felt the need to tell me I'm welcome to disagree? Politeness I guess? There seems to be a trend these days where people increasingly can't disagree while maintaining civility. So sometimes I make an extra effort to make it clear that I'm happy to debate and disagree politely. Probably leby KeithK - Other Sports

Jim Hyla Does a business have the right to police their environment as to keep it such that everyone can feel comfortable and do their best work? If they have workers who go out to represent the company, can they require that they live up to certain standards and if they don't, they can no longer represent the company? A university is a business, albeit a different kind of business, but I seeby KeithK - Other Sports

underskill my concern is that these were group text messages, that were stolen by someone and screencapped then leaked --I think it's one thing if there's any evidence of actual harassment or unlawful behavior, another if it's a private group text (no matter how ill-advised some of the convo may be) Exactly. RichH ugarte KeithK Explain to me why a University has any business policing the speech of its students, no matter how offensive it might be. Particularly private speech, which this appears to be.Because it makes the university look like shit. Don't be stupid. Beeeej I'm not a huge fan of campus speech codes, either - particularly the ACLUer in me - but in most instances, just like buying a ticket to Lynah with that "license" on the back, you matriculate at a university fully aware that it's under certain conditions, including the expectation that you'll live by their code of conduct. It's also not atypical for colleges to try to hold their vby KeithK - Other Sports

RichH I still hate that you have to make a phone call to cancel your subscription. If I can sign up online, I should be able to cancel online. My credit card gives the option of generating virtual card numbers, which generally expire the same month they are generated. Trotsky It's not the athletes' fault that Cornell athletics sucks so please don't cleverly (a.k.a. not at all cleverly) slag them. Aren't the athletes (at least partially) to blame by definition? If they would just play better the teams wouldn't suck so much.by KeithK - Hockey

It's good to know that we will be opening "a promising 2016 campaign" and "There is every reason to believe 2016 will continue the Big Red on an upward trajectory". but hey we "led the Ancient Eight in net punting". nshapiro KeithK nshapiro For the current student body, they shouldn't deliver the hockey tickets until proof of attendance at first few home football games. Mandatory school spirit! Absolutely.by KeithK - Hockey

scoop85 ursusminor Article about Malone committing. Interesting that a kid who's not even 16 was concerned that he needed to act "before the opportunity could've slipped through my fingers..." I suppose it's good that we're getting commitments from these guys because that's the way college hockey is now and it would mean something was wrong if we weren't. But we've seen enough guys decommit (both CU and elsewhere) that it's hard to really put any stock in a 16 year old.by KeithK - Hockey

CAS Meant no offense Keith. Was just showing how negative the media is re our football prospects this season, in year 4 of the Archer era (5-25 to date). CAS Keith, think that's a maximum of 3 media members who don't have us finishing last. Yes, no more than three voters could have had us above 8th. Or one crazy man thinking that we'd finish 5th! But that doesn't mean there aren't other members of the media who think so too but didn't get votes. Yeah, that's what I meanT! Ken711 CAS Rather large gap between Columbia picked 7th (43 points) and Cornell (20 points). We seem to be a consensus pick. Last is still last. We are the new "Columbia" in Ivy League football. TrotskyI feel they could go to 32 on a three-year trial. What would be the metric for deciding whether the trial was successful? Average GPA of players? Whether the teams/coaches/players like it?
