Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Union 2 @ Cornell 1 (postgame thread 11/18/05) - 18 years ago
I just thought of something interesting. If a visiting goalie had dyslexia/ADD, would we use that as taunting ammo? I'm not quite sure... And perhaps others will for McKee when we're on the road. I think he'll be fine, though.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: RPI 1 @ Cornell 1 11/19 Postgame - 18 years ago
Carefoot looked great tonight, I thought. Also, Seminoff looked very good, except that elbowing/contact to the head penalty he got towards the end of the second period. He picked up a few other penalties, but I thought they were bad calls, mainly. Gleed also played well, and had one great defensive stop toward the end of the third period, stripping the puck from an RPI forward as he came intby Dafatone - Hockey

There have been way too many Section O Sucks cheers from section B. Makes me worry too many fans there are there for the cheering, and not for the team itself.by Dafatone - Hockey

Pulling McKee wouldn't have helped tonight, as he didn't let in any goals after the 2nd one. Hell, it was my fault. I'm down in section G. Union was on a PP, let a shot go from the point that missed wide by almost a yard, I shouted "You Missed!" 30 seconds later we were down 2-1. Anyway, We did look bad at the point tonight, but I think we weren't used to Union's penalty kill.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: We Have a New Sieve - 18 years ago
Down in Section F, the fans were really into it for the last 5 minutes, solely due to the efforts of one loud fan who shouted at the rest of us until we cheered. Good job on his part.by Dafatone - Hockey

For the most part, I thought we looked a lot better tonight. Especially our defense, we cleared rebounds much better than in the past. I thought Krantz looked pretty good for once. The only defenseman who struck me as truly off was Davenport. O'Byrne was streaky, but played well at times. I don't know why we sat Glover, he was playing well. Same with Barlow, would rather have him out thby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Polls 11/14 - 18 years ago
I've seen it mentioned by a few people on these boards that Chabot is just awful. He did look really good in the Red-White game, and against Dartmouth. Maybe not so much against USA under 18. I think Chabot gets confused pretty easily when there's a mess in front of him, which is where McKee often makes great saves. On the other hand, in clear breakaway situations, Chabot's been very good (by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: lines this weekend? - 18 years ago
Maybe consider moving Bitz off the top line? The past few games, his puckhandling skills have been rather shaky. As far as I can tell, he's constantly losing the puck. Still a good scorer, though. Not quite sure who else to put up there, maybe Moulson - Pegoraro - Chris Abbott? Or Topher for one of those two.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: lines this weekend? - 18 years ago
I wanted Scott on the top line with Moulson and Bitz from the beginning, but I'm starting to think. Maybe Pegoraro instead? He's looked really good so far.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 @ Dartmouth 6 (post-game thread) - 18 years ago
I thought O'Byrne was alright last night, with the exception of getting beaten on so many breakaways. But that was the fault of the whole defense (O'Byrne included, of course.) To me, on a night when almost everyone played awfully, O'Byrne was merely bad. He hasn't improved as much as we might hope since his first year, but he's one of the best we have now. That could just mean we're in a lby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 @ Dartmouth 6 (post-game thread) - 18 years ago
It's been said before, but we looked awful tonight. I guess every team looks awful once in a while (hopefully a long while). Anyway, I like the idea of shaking up the lines, maybe put Scott on the first line. Maybe see how we look against Union first. The only player who I thought looked alright tonight was Pegoraro. But I'm a bit confused on him. I'm constantly thinking that he looks rby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: "Section O Sucks!" - 18 years ago
I really agree here. The section O sucks chant was used practically the whole game, and it just sounded frustrated by the end. I'd rather be supporting our team, or even taunting the other team, not their fans.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Schafer Suspended One Game - 18 years ago
I did stay a while after the loss, actually. I guess I was so caught up in everything I didn't really pay attention to the bottles.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Schafer Suspended One Game - 18 years ago
I agree with everyone that we shouldn't be throwing bottles onto the ice. But it wasn't any sort of torrential rain of debris, I counted maybe 4 or 5 thrown out there. Still bad, but I think that's been blown out of proportion a bit.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Status of Footer & Pegs? - 18 years ago
I didn't see the hit on Pegs, but from when it happened, it had to be out of the play. Abdelkader was a huge goon the whole weekend, I was surprised he didn't get tossed Friday night for going after Mckee.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Post Game cheer - 18 years ago
Normally, I'd say we should stick to losing with class, and restricting ourselves somewhat on postgame taunting when we lose. But with MSU playing such a cheap game (I thought they were dropping every time they got hit to draw calls, and Aberka-something took multiple cheap shots after play stopped, including one on Mckee), forget class. Let's just win the rest of our games at home and notby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: MSU 4, Cornell 3 post-game (game 2) thread - 18 years ago
Looking back at the game, Bitz had an assist and Sawada had a goal, so I guess they didn't really have that bad a game. Sawada I just didn't notice much, which I usually consider a bad thing. Bitz seemed to be losing the puck an awful lot. Oh, almost forgot, the refs sucked. Was it just me, or were the Section O Sucks chants overdone? Don't get me wrong, section O does suck, and needs to bby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: MSU 4, Cornell 3 post-game (game 2) thread - 18 years ago
I personally thought some of our players looked a bit off tonight. I thought Sawada and Bitz weren't that great. The second line (Pegs, Scott, Abbott, I believe?) looked best overall, though Moulson was good as usual. Sawada was solid defensively, but Bitz was losing control of the puck more often than I'd like. I'm not huge on hockey knowledge, so I could be completely wrong here, but I woby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Michigan State cheers - 18 years ago
One idea. On the Hey Vicari, your mother called... chant, throw in a Hey Vicari, Michigan called... line? Not exactly brilliant, but it could work.by Dafatone - Hockey

So, Nightingale is an assistant captain, he'll probably have a lot of time on the ice. Would a Florence chant be effective?by Dafatone - Hockey
