Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Other Playoff Games - 3/17/06 - 18 years ago
I'm pretty sure UND winning is bad for us. As Wisconsin is out of reach. Though this isn't exactly a scientific analysis.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: 2005-2006 PWR - playoffs edition! - 18 years ago
Wait... do we somehow win the tiebreaker against Miami? I thought it was RPI, which we're behind on.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Clarkson, Game 2 POSTGAME - 18 years ago
Seminoff finally learned to do something other than pass when he gets the puck in an offensive situation. He's been good all year, but he fires shots too early, before a play can set up. He finally fakes the shot and passes, and we win. I have to say, Gleed's been incredible both games. He had a couple bad turnovers in either the 3rd period or the first OT tonight, but he's been by far ouby Dafatone - Hockey

That pass slid under Leggio play was Bitz, actually.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Link for Sunday's SLU-Brown game - 18 years ago
One of the Brown goals was announced as a shot that "went just under the crossbar." I thought that it had gone behind the goal or something. Then I thought "wait, under the bar? That's like, in the goal, isn't it? They didn't say it was a goal..." It was.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Best/Favorite Cheers - 18 years ago
Spontaneity was rare at times this year. There was a good "pull your pants up" for Dekanich, whose pants were inexplicably falling down all game. And MVP for Devine after the goal that he kicked in was a lot of fun.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: plus/minus - 18 years ago
That's almost the exact opposite of what I would've expected... At the very least, I thought the Mugford/Chris/Sawada line has been our best all year. Then again, they do beat people up real well, and that doesn't necessarily come across in plus/minus. I'm not too surprised by the defense. Krantz has turned it around this year and has been easily one of our top four defensemen, if not hby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Davenport returns... are we saying bye to Mckee? - 18 years ago
Anyone able to estimate how good the recruited/prospective goalies are? I'm a bit new to all this... DiLeo doesn't seem to be anything to get excited about, but how are Scrivens or Davenport, talentwise?by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: 2005-2006 PWR - 18 years ago
Oh, okay, they split with Denver. Makes sense, though the jump they took was huge.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: 2005-2006 PWR - 18 years ago
So NoDak moved up like... 5 or 6 places by losing to Denver? PWR confuses me.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 RPI 2 - 18 years ago
We have the first round bye clinched. Umm... don't we? Anyone know if we win a tiebreaker against harvard?by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 RPI 2 (3rd period) - 18 years ago
So, we do anything wrong? This sounded like Lange was just a wall.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 RPI 2 (3rd period) - 18 years ago
We get called for too many men? Bah. That's a lame call to make for anything short of us simply trying to sneak a seventh man on.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 RPI 2 (3rd period) - 18 years ago
Well, crap. That's a spot you can't take a penalty in, and have to really let McKee do his best. Down two, we can't afford the time lost by a penalty.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 RPI 2 (3rd period) - 18 years ago
So the ref blew the call? Not sure how else there could be a rebound unless Lange didn't have it... Odd that there wasn't much of an objection from Cornell, unless I'm missing something.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 RPI 2 (2nd period) - 18 years ago
Waved off because of a hand pass. Not quite sure how the hand pass factored into the play, but it did. RPI announcers get some credit for admitting that the hand pass wave-off was legitimate.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 RPI 2 (after 1st period) - 18 years ago
Has Moulson been that bad this game? He hasn't done much in scoring recently, as he seems to get "easy" PP goals. But I have to say he's been very impressive moving the puck up along the boards. That's not what we're looking for Moulson to excel in, I know, but he's been doing something.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 RPI 2 (1st period) - 18 years ago
Anyone know the score of Colgate-Union?by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: 2004 All Over Again? - 18 years ago
We need more point players for the PP. Bitz just isn't good there, his slapshot is too inaccurate, and he's not much of a puckhandler or passer. When someone puts pressure on him, he gets scared with the puck. O'Byrne and Moulson work, though I'd like to see Moulson get chances below as well. Except we need him on the point. How about Scott at the point? He has no slapshot, but he can pby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Harvard at Cornell post-game thread - 18 years ago
I was thinking maybe we should pull McKee for a 6x3, but honestly, Harvard is much faster than we are. Someone gets even the slightest hint of a break, and they score. In my opinion, the risk of this outweighs the advantage of a sixth man against three, as we were able to dominate the 5x3 well, and just failed to put the puck in the net. Now, when the first penalty let up, leaving us with abby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Dryden Award - 18 years ago
In my opinion, Mayotte's been the best goalie I've seen this year, other than McKee. I think McKee's been most impressive, but it's easy to say that seeing him over so many games. Dekanich's been good too, though he didn't have a particularly good game at Lynah, in my opinion.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Sucks Game Thread 2/18/06 - 18 years ago
So... who looked good for us tonight? Bitz, although I cringe whenever he has the puck in our zone and there's a man putting pressure on him. Someone mentioned that Seminoff wasn't playing well. He looked good, except he simply fell over once, leading directly to a goal. He slipped. So the goal was his fault and all, but that happens. Other than that, he was fine. McKee really was prby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Harvard ejectsion - 18 years ago
If you're in G, maybe head over to the bottom of E/F, and throw it over the glass there?by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: The RED-OUT crowd and "it's all your fault" cheer. - 18 years ago
I think Daigneau is pronounced Dane-yo. I could be very wrong, though.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Dartmouth @ Lynah post game thread 2/17/06 - 18 years ago
I thought Krantz looked great. Really, all the defensemen played very well cutting off breakaways and Dartmouth chances.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Value of Ivy Title - 18 years ago
So, Gaudet called a time out with 30 seconds left, down two goals, while Dartmouth had a penalty. There are only two possible things he could have told his team. 1) "Alright, nobody do anything stupid. I know you're frustrated." 2) "Alright, go out there and try to hurt someone." Seeing that a fight broke out pretty much on top of McKee after this, my guess is #2.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Dartmouth @ Lynah post game thread 2/17/06 - 18 years ago
On that third goal, Devine kicked the puck in a bit too. Prompted all sorts of MVP chants from us in section G. McKee played great. Bitz looked great as well, which is a lot from me as I've thought he's been rather bad for most of this year. He's finally using his size, and hitting. Sawada was killing people all over the ice. Anyway, the five forward PP line. Think it worked? We got tby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Cornell at St. Lawrence post-game thread (2/11/06) - 18 years ago
Besides, it was on Seminoff. He gets called for everything imaginable. I think by now, the refs just look to dump penalties on him.by Dafatone - Hockey
