Jeff Hopkins '82 Larry72 abmarks scoop85 Trotsky Beeeej KenP Beeeej Okay, now I REALLY hope the weather forecast improves. We're planning to head up this weekend, but we won't if the expected snow is likely to cause a problem getting back to Brooklyn. Forecast is trending warmer. Mostly rain. Enough forecasts show sub-freezing temps during the rain over Saturday night that we're concerned aboby Give My Regards - Hockey

Al DeFlorio upprdeck the 2nd half of game 2 shows what they can do when they bare down and play a complete game. More entertaining for the fans, too. Y'know, there was an article in the Journal a few days ago about the "streaking" men's hockey team. I thought they were referring to their record.by Give My Regards - Hockey

French Rage adamw French Rage Trotsky adamw Trotsky nshapiro djk26 I've always wanted the NHL to do 4 points for a regulation win, 3 points for an OT win, 2 points for a shootout win and 1 point for a shootout loss (and 0 points for a loss before the shootout.) I wonder if that would incentivize teams to be more aggressive to try to score. Probably not. I would prefer to see every game worth 5by Give My Regards - Hockey
Re: CU @ RPI News - 4 years ago
Trotsky adamw There were also other undefeated seasons in the era prior to the implementation of the NCAA Tournament (1948) - so long as we're getting technical. For one. Every game on the road -- not bad. To get even more technical, 29-0-0 wasn't the last unblemished record in college hockey history, unless that equals Div. I history only. Bemidji went 31-0-0 and won the Div. II championby Give My Regards - Hockey

Re: IVY League standings - 4 years ago
This appears to be new. Last year's standings show the usual 2 points for a win and 1 for a tie structure that the ECAC uses, and I'm pretty sure that the Ivies have used that in the past as well. (Can't tell from the "historical" standings on the Ivy site; 2017-18 standings show winning percentage only, and prior ones seem to use ECAC conference standings, although with some mishmasby Give My Regards - Hockey
Re: Polls 2019-20 - 4 years ago
KenP Cornell was taken out of the mix because our KRACH cannot be calculated. What does that mean for teams that played us? I assume those games not included in their KRACH/SOS calculation... which artificially would lower their SOS... which in turn lowers our apparent SOS. Herre's hoping that's a problem all season...by Give My Regards - Hockey

And now the Infamous Wall of Text: Once again, it's time for the ECAC Playoff Permutations! St. Lawrence has, well, wrapped up last place, but there is plenty of jockeying left for the other positions, as first through fourth are currently separated by two points, fifth through seventh by two points, and eighth through eleventh by four. TrotskyI have no doubt that the 3 Laws will reassert themselves as a regression to the mean of the universe, but we haven't been living up to them lately. 4 first place finishes since 2002 and a shot at another this year. 1-4 in ECAC finals since 2005, and 1-3 in ECAC SF since 2012. andyw2100 scoop85 For whatever reason we've had trouble scoring on Q this year -- 3 goals in 2 games. Of course we've only given up 2 ourselves in those games and won both. That would be a neat trick! The scores were 2-1 and 1-0, so while we did score only three goals, Quinnipiac only scored one. Q must have had one disallowed.by Give My Regards - Hockey

BearLover Trotsky Zero won the national title. How about #1s at the start of the NCAAs? Since the 16-team tournament began in 2003, the #1 overall seed has won the championship four times: Wisconsin in 2006 (screw you, Brian Elliott!), BU in 2009, BC in 2012, and Denver last year. That may not correspond with #1 in the polls at the start of the NCAAs, but who cares what humans think anyway.by Give My Regards - Hockey
