Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Cornell @ Hahvahd 1/26/18 - 6 years ago
Tom Lento BearLover In 20 games, Cornell has given up...29 goals. That is unsustainably ridiculous. I hope they keep it up. Yeah, hopefully they will, but we don't have to look too far to find out how quickly things can change. Clarkson had given up 28 goals in 22 games this season, and then last Friday coughed up 6 to Harvard. At home.by Give My Regards - Hockey
Re: Bracketology Starts - 6 years ago
All right, before we go much farther with this, I have to say -- and I suspect it's already been said, but it bears repeating -- Allentown cannot host the "Midwest" Regional because Allentown is not "Midwest". Allentown is farther east than Ithaca is. It needs to be called the "Mideast" Regional.by Give My Regards - Hockey

Roy 82 cufan And let us not forget the forgettable movie, Love Story, which brought some notoriety to the rivalry. Cornell Hockey is never having to say you're sorry. Yeah, did anything happen after the hockey game in that movie? I've never bothered to watch past that point...by Give My Regards - Hockey

BearLover marty BearLover ...there's still nothing to suggest Cornell is any better off now than we've been at any point since '05/'06, the last time we were on top of the ECAC.... There's a Whitelaw from 2010 that you can check out in the trophy case when you next visit Mike and the gang. Oh, I'm aware. But we dodged Yale, who we could never ever beat back then, because they got upset in an eby Give My Regards - Hockey

Scersk '97 Well, I think we can all agree that every time the team loses it's because I didn't believe hard enough. At least, that's the way I see it, in my world where all the rest of you are just figments of my imagination. I wonder often why I created someone like Hooking in the first place. Trotsky Al DeFlorio Impressive regular season in one respect: After an 0-1-1 start in ECAC games on the road, an 8-0-1 finish gives a final 8-1-2 road ECAC record.Surely in more than one respect. The 9-point improvement from the prior season is one of our largest ever. 14 1988 16 30 12 1996 20 32 11 1985 18 29 11 2002 25 36 9 2005 29 38 9 2017 22 31 I'm astonished no one has yet pointby Give My Regards - Hockey
Tiebreaking fun (Atlantic Hockey again) - 7 years ago
In a game that will otherwise mean almost nothing (pending RPI/PWR ripples), I'm perversely rooting for Robert Morris to beat Niagara tonight in the last game of the Atlantic Hockey regular season, just for the tiebreaking headache it will cause. Atlantic Hockey already has themselves a three-way tie for sixth, among RIT, Mercyhurst, and Bentley. Sadly, the league no longer uses the mini-confby Give My Regards - Hockey

Trotsky 3-way: So far I can't shake: 1. Hvd 2. Cor 3. Uni Yup, that's it, given that the other two can't get by Harvard's 3-1 record head-to-head, and given that this 3-way tie only happens if, among other things, Cornell beats Union. The tiebreaker would go: 3-way head-to-head: Harvard 3-1 Cornell 2-2 Union 1-3 Harvard takes first. Then Cornell's 2-0 record against Uby Give My Regards - Hockey

...and the too-much-time-on-my-hands version: Once again, it’s time for the ECAC Playoff Permutatuions! Not a lot of drama this year, as most teams can finish in any of just three or four places, a far cry from the usual confusion where teams can finish in a range of seven or eight. Not that I’m complaining much, as it makes the math a lot easier. Going into the final weekend of leagby Give My Regards - Hockey

Have at it, folks. First, the short version: Possible ECAC tournament seedings (the number in parentheses is the best seed the team can get with no help): Union 1-3 (1) Harvard 1-3 (2) Cornell 1-4 (3) St. Lawrence 3-5 (4) Quinnipiac 4-6 (5) Clarkson 5-7 (6) Yale 6-10 (7) Dartmouth 7-10 (8) Colgate 7-1by Give My Regards - Hockey

Beeeej I just answered "How can we improve the hockey experience?" with "Replace the head coach." Wait, how does that improve the Harvard hockey experience for us? Re: ECAC Playoff Possibilities Stuff - 8 years ago
upprdeck is the ecac doing the semi losers game so even getting to the final 4 could mean 2 more losses? but getting that far also could also mean we beat yale/quin There is no consolation game, just the two semis and the championship.by Give My Regards - Hockey
Re: 2016 ECAC Playoff Permutations - 8 years ago
And now the not-short-by-any-stretch-of-the-imagination version: Back again with the 2016 version of the ECAC Playoff Permutations! Unlike the last few years, nobody has wrapped up a particular seed yet. Even Quin- nipiac’s near-undefeated season is not yet enough to guarantee the top spot, although the Bobcats are pretty close. Part 2: Cornell finishes last if they lose all their remaining games, Brown wins out, Princeton wins all their games except the one against Brown, Union wins at least four games, and Clarkson wins or ties at least once. Here is one way all that can happen: Friday 2/12: Princeton over Clarkson Colgate over Yale Brown over Cornell Harvard over RPI Quinnipiac over St. Lawrence Union oby Give My Regards - Hockey

Jim Hyla And 2 hoorays to the first person who can find a way for us to finish 1, 11 or 12, if possible. Aw for cryin' out loud... talk about waving a pork chop in front of a Doberman... Well, here goes. SNY guys try to impress with their oh-so-intricate knowledge of college hockey history, pointing out that the last time a team went undefeated in ECAC play was the 1970 Cornell team which won the NCAA championship -- then fumble it badly by putting "some guy named Dryden" on that team.by Give My Regards - Hockey
Re: @ Brown - 8 years ago
andyw2100 Robb So...obvious question: when was the last time we had 2 road shutouts? And a three point weekend on the road scoring one goal. Last back-to-back road shutouts appear to be the 2010 ECAC semi on 3/19 against Brown (3-0) and the final on 3/20 against Union (3-0). Last one-goal three-point weekend on the road (of course it's happened before) was opening weekend of the 2008-09 seby Give My Regards - Hockey
