I live in boston. Was at a bar in Harvard square last night with my (Cornellian) wife. I was describing the game because she hadn't gotten to see it. A lady next to us accosts us and says "devastating, wasn't it?" We get to taking. She says she's an assistant coach at Harvard, her boss is the clash for team USA, and some of her players are on the team. She asks how we becameby BMac - Hockey

Is this even a question? We have four players on Team Canada, and Sucks has 4 players and the coach on Team USA. And if I wasn't supposed to cheer for Canada, why did Lynah teach me their anthem?by BMac - Hockey

Does anyone know if our players' families tend to go to Estero? I have to wonder whether the situation is very different for Maine because their players are close enough to drive home for the holidays, whereas ours are from all over and their families come to Florida instead. Rule 73 - Interference on the Goalkeeper 73.1 Interference on the Goalkeeper - A player of the attacking team may stand on the goal crease line or in the goal crease, or skate through the goal crease, unless, in the opinion of the official, the player is physically or visually preventing the goalkeeper from defending the goal. PENALTY—If a goal is scored, it shall be disallowed. Faceoff atby BMac - Hockey

I've also had trouble finding it. Eventually ILDN posts highlights for games... just not for a while.by BMac - Hockey

Agree with analysis of the called-off goals. I was listening to the game as I drove, stopped to watch the last 5 min and overtime. Which means the announcers changed from WHCU to the Yale crew. Oh. My. Goodness. That was painful. "Maybe I'm biased but that's dirty hockey!" When their guy takes two full strides after the whistle to bump Iles, then gets predictably shoved.... Insiby BMac - Hockey

This is the best option. NYC holiday tournament. Because then I'd get to go. But it sure would take away the novelty of Red Hot Hockey. Let's all be honest here: the best place for the holiday tournament is, of course, Vancouver. Canadians LOVE Vancouver. Seriously, it's the Canadian Mecca. Everyone in Canada dreams of a house on Vancouver Island. All of the players' families would loveby BMac - Hockey

Cool. The lyrics to O Canada are wrong (at least in the first one): "From Far and Wide" is missing.by BMac - Hockey

I went to CornellBigRed.com today and it was replaced by a promo-splash page with a link to this: THEY'RE SELLING TICKETS LIKE THIS, DURING THE SEASON?! WHAT IS HAPPENING?by BMac - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1, Dartmouth 1 - 10 years ago
Fair point, I was careless with my phrasing. Though not by much. How's this: the league should be extremely concerned with minimizing preventable injuries. My point here is that the preventability of this incident is what merits a very severe response. I'll argue that the rules are generally meant to punish according to the likelihood of injury. I assume that there's a probability of injby BMac - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1, Dartmouth 1 - 10 years ago
Great that the league did *something*. Much more importantly, it would be great to know that our best player, who missed most of last season due to a neck/back injury, is healthy. I don't think the punishment is enough. Nothing in college hockey is worth (reaggravating) an injury like that. It would be heartless for the league to do any less than the maximum possible to prevent shit like tby BMac - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1, Dartmouth 1 - 10 years ago
I would pay real dollars to see Schafer throw a haymaker at Gaudet. But of course, I don't actually want that. Then we'd be in the news for the things I'm glad we're never in the news for.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Dartmouth game - 10 years ago
Fuck dartmouth! A few seconds after OT ends, a player clobbers one of our guys who had let up. Totally still for a minute or two, thankfully gets up on his own. Fuck. Dartmouth.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Harvard 1/17/14 - 10 years ago
Winning is the best. This game looked like the msg game to me, with one big difference: we actually scored on some of our chances. Lots of energy, lots of offense, lots of really bad turnovers that the other guys capitalized on. I, for one, welcome our new end-to-end high-flying team. Three BEAUTIFUL goals. All that said, thank goodness for Andy keeping us in the game during the thirdby BMac - Hockey
