Re: Game time on Thursday? - 16 years ago
jtwcornell91Does anyone know what time the games in Anaheim are on Thursday? They usually don't announce the game times until Monday. With our luck they'll make Cornell the last game of the day in Anaheim, perhaps at 10 or 11 p.m. EST.by dbilmes - Other Sports
Re: selection sunday on now..... - 16 years ago
So much for getting a big turnout of Cornell fans. Anaheim is quite a haul from the Northeast.by dbilmes - Other Sports
Re: C.U. In Albany!!!! a.k.a. Albany Roll Call - 16 years ago
BeeeejSo it will depend partly on which game we get in Albany, which I also won't know until tomorrow night. I'd prefer having us play in the late game Friday. What has to happen with Sunday night's Game 3s for that to happen?by dbilmes - Hockey
Frozen Four tickets - 16 years ago
My Frozen Four tickets came in the mail today. What are the chances Cornell will be there?by dbilmes - Hockey

Re: Quinnipiac-Princeton Roll Call - 16 years ago
I'm afraid that I'm one of the fans who wimped out Friday night due to freezing rain. The good news is that next year, we play at Q on Nov. 8, so hopefully, weather won't be an issue!by dbilmes - Hockey
Re: Quinnipiac-Princeton Roll Call - 16 years ago
I've been told parking at Quinnipiac is a pain, made worse by construction. So plan on arriving early to make sure you make it into the rink in time.by dbilmes - Hockey
Re: Quinnipiac-Princeton Roll Call - 16 years ago
Quinnipiac +1 Quinnipiac sold out last weekend's game against Yale, and also sold about 1,000 SRO tickets. I guess it's becoming one of the toughest tickets in the ECAC. Who would have thought it would be easier to buy a ticket for a Cornell home game than for a Quinnipiac home game? The Cornell Club of Hartford has sold out its block of 40 tickets for the game, too.by dbilmes - Hockey
Re: EZAC upsets?!? - 16 years ago
martyOn a negative note, RIP finished last in the Lightning Classic. Even so, Cornell will have their hands full in Troy on January 11th. RPI lost to CC on Saturday with 7 seconds left in the third period after being up 2-0 after two. Their 3-1 loss to Notre Dame Sunday included an ENG. I agree that we're going to have our hands full with RPI. Their record is misleading, since they're 0-7 aby dbilmes - Hockey
Re: Red Hot Hockey: The Fan Experience - 16 years ago
I'm glad someone started this thread. I thought it was a great atmosphere for college hockey and enjoyed everything about the experience except for the game itself! I was standing all game in Section 330, where the fans were constantly chanting and cheering. I didn't splurge for the $7 program, but I thought the montage on the scoreboard between the first two periods of Cornell hockey greats andby dbilmes - Hockey
Re: Harvard-Dartmouth Roll Call - 16 years ago
TrotskyGiven that the Harvard band, and much of its crowd, will be heading to New Haven for The Game, Lynah East may well be just that Friday. I thought Cornell-Harvard hockey was The Game!by dbilmes - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Yale Post Game - not Frozen Four contenders yet - 16 years ago
billhowardThere was nobody home at the game. No Yale fans. Hardly any Cornell fans. (But still more Cornell fans than Yale, or so it seemed.) The "Red!" shout during the anthem was the most raggedy-assed Cornell cheer in years. No Cornell pep band. It was nice hearing the Yalies in our section gripe about there being more Cornell than Yale fans. If Yale announced more than 2,000, it's aby dbilmes - Hockey

Re: Lottery for Cornell block of Lynah East tickets - 16 years ago
I got an email from the athletic dept. today telling me that I was not one of the lottery winners. It's a good thing I was able to get through to the Sucks ticket office the day the tickets went on sale!by dbilmes - Hockey

Has anyone found out when Harvard's ticket office will put the Cornell tickets on sale to the general public (meaning Cornell fans, of course)?by dbilmes - Hockey

Re: Schadenfreude - Duke vs. Hopkins NCAA lax title game - 16 years ago
I, too, was rooting for Hopkins, mainly because like everyone else, I'm sick of these stories about the redemption of the Duke program. And the ESPN announced lauded Duke's All-America defenseman for the hit he put on Seibald at the beginning of Saturday's game, but neglected to mention that it was an illegal hit which resulted in a rare 2-minute penalty. When the game ended, I consoled myself byby dbilmes - Other Sports
Re: NCAA Lax Semis - Cornell 11 @ Duke 12 (FINAL) - 16 years ago
I just got back from Baltimore (it's a long round trip from CT in one day!). What an emotional roller coaster, especially in the last 17 seconds. The effort we gave to come back in the second half was incredible. I was even more impressed with the team after the game, as they deliberately went to three different sections of Cornell fans, and then the pep band, saluting each group. How many big-tiby dbilmes - Other Sports

Re: [LAX] 1977 National Champions to be Honored Saturday - 17 years ago
It's nice to see Dan Mackasey will be there. He was the starting goalie both for our Ivy League champion men's soccer team in the fall, and for our national champion lacrosse team in the spring.by dbilmes - Other Sports
Re: MLax: Cornell 16 @ Syracuse 15 (FINAL) - 17 years ago
What a finish! However, the TV announcers were terrible. It was obvious that the Syracuse goalie thought the final goal should have been waved off, but the announcers never said why (perhaps he though Seibald was in the crease?).by dbilmes - Other Sports
Re: Cornell at Syracuse - 17 years ago
I seem to recall a game when at Schoellkopf during our dynasty of the late '70s when we beat Syracuse, 26-6. Those were the good old days!by dbilmes - Other Sports
Re: 10 blandest TV interview cliches - 17 years ago
My pet peeve is "He always gives 110 percent effort." If 100 percent is the maximum, how can you give more than the maximum? Another one, which usually comes from the coach of one team, referring to the other team, "They're a well-coached team." When I'm covering a game, which I still do on occasion, I never use a quote from one coach complimenting another. I'm still waitingby dbilmes - Other Sports
Re: Rochester Player of the Year - 17 years ago
CornellFan Cornell better be able to get this kid. He is from our backyard. Perhaps he doesn't want to go to Cornell. Perhaps after living in upstate New York, he wants to go someplace warmer. It's not necessarily a case of Cornell being able to get this kid. A lot depends on whether he wants to spend four more years in upstate New York.by dbilmes - Other Sports
Re: Best men's lax team of all time? - 17 years ago
I was at the 1976 game in person (my first trip to Brown, and I remember getting lost in Providence). The game was televised on ABC's Wide World of Sports, and I remember hearing the Frank Gifford called it one of the most exciting sporting events he had ever seen. It would be nice to see crowds turn out again for lacrosse. Back in the late 70s, we routinely got crowds of 10,000 or more for bigby dbilmes - Other Sports
Re: MLax: Cornell 19 @ Yale 8 (FINAL) - AllAccess sucks - 17 years ago
Not much to say about this game except that we looked every bit like a No. 1 team. The way we played during our 13-0 run in the first half was unbelievable. Glad we didn't suffer a letdown after the big win against Duke. But to be honest, even if we had, it didn't look like Yale had the talent to beat us, especially on defense, where they couldn't match our offensive speed.by dbilmes - Other Sports
Re: Cornell at Harvard postgame - 17 years ago
Jordan 04I'm surprised by the couple of comments in this thread and the Goaltenders thread saying that Scrivens played pretty well on Saturday. This was my first time seeing him in-person, so maybe he doesn't have the credibility of past performances with me, but I thought he was extremely shaky the whole night Your comments about Scrivens are right on target. But the key is, this was the fiby dbilmes - Hockey

After watching the replays, I still don't understand why the fourth Cornell goal was disallowed, but I do understand why Davenport got the start in goal on Saturday night!by dbilmes - Hockey
