Re: NCAA Final Video - 3 years ago
Larry72 ..... Lodboa and the defense played spectacular with a lot of support from the forwards. It's nice to see that (support by the forwards) has carried over to Mike's teams... That was not so much the case during Bertrand's era.by redice - Hockey

George64 Al DeFlorio The long periods of silence, however, were refreshing. He'd introduce a segment and then let you watch in peace. Absolutely! I now mute much of the NFL games (particularly Tony Romo). Everything I want to know is on the screen. Agreed! For me, that "special person" is Chris Collinsworth. Put a sock in it, Chris!!!by redice - Hockey

Trotsky jkahn A fair amount of the 1970 NCAA Final can be found here: Link provided thanks to Garth Ryan, who emailed it to me after I sent him the link to the Sun article. This is terrific, thank you! AND, for those of us who were there, it's Randy Wilson Day!!!!!!!by redice - Hockey

I believe George Swan was the other goalie on that frosh team.... Dave Quarrie would have been on the varsity at that time.by redice - Hockey
Re: 2021-22 Men's Schedule - 3 years ago
redice Yes, they did put down ice at Lynah. What happened to that ice after the Ivy League cancelled winter sports, I do not know. I just got confirmation from Phil Graham that there is still ice at Lynah.by redice - Hockey

Jim Hyla ......“ If you're old enough, ANY tournament game you saw in old Boston Garden. If you sat in the balcony near the lip, the ground shook under your feet.”...... This is a bit off-topic, but I went to one Celtics game in the old Gahden... It was Larry Bird's first game back after missing a year due to injury... Cornell Providence ECAC 1979 quarterfinal. That one is in it's own universe. This is kinda personal, but that's the only game where I think my clothes were a sweaty as the players'.... Jim Hyla When a parent can't send their child to school, they generally get them vaccinated. "Generally", perhaps.... But, the anti-vaxers that I know ALL home-school, without exception. To be clear, I don't belong to or agree with that group.by redice - Hockey

Trotsky rediceThe same folks who refuse to wear masks & social distance will refuse to get vaccinated (even if it's mandatory). Problem solves itself. What I call a thinning of the herd.... But, as someone else noted, there will be those who are asymptomatic, who screw this up....by redice - Hockey
Re: RIT Cancels 2020-2021 Hockey Season - 3 years ago
upprdeck they vaccine news today now means there is a chance 50 million plus could have vaccines by january. all the more reason to push seasons off to feb/march. I disagree! The same folks who refuse to wear masks & social distance will refuse to get vaccinated (even if it's mandatory). I know some of these folks and they are VERY stubborn about this. jts15 I don't see it mentioned here but this came up on local radio recently regarding Union and RPI cancelling some winter sports. No decision on hockey yet. Taken from that Albany newspaper article: "McElroy said ECAC Hockey athletic directors and the Ivy League presidents each have meetings Tuesday to discuss the future of the hockey season." I'm guessing that, since that arby redice - Hockey

He can stop and start on a dime and his mobility and ability to make cuts make him tough to defend. He won almost every face-off and was setting the table for his teammates all game...Athletic, fast and dangerous with possession, he’s a D1 prospect and a good one.”by redice - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 Trotsky Jeff Hopkins '82 upprdeck vegas in 2026 would be a fun time. Vegas is a sleaze hole.Only the casinos. Stay away from them and it's one of the most lovely locations in the country. LV is the same as NYC: just erase the people. I avoided them as much as I could. Re: Men's roster 2020-21 - 3 years ago
Trotsky SwampyThe article quotes him in several places, but he says nothing about academics. It's all about winning and reaching the next level. Well, if despite the splinters in his butt from sitting on the bench at Cornell he still wants to try to reach the next level, I say good for him and wish him good luck. OK, but: He finished in three years. That shows academic commitment. He was aby redice - Hockey

scoop85 Cornell picked up a commitment from 16-year old center Tyler Wishart from Westchester County. He was recently drafted in the 7th round of the USHL draft by Lincoln. Re: NHL Draft - 2020 - 3 years ago
profudge So now that it's over 70 players with NCAA ties taken. None with Cornell ties. Harvard has 7, North Dakota had 6, and so on. Ugh!! Here's hoping it's teamwork and character that leads to Big Red success! Or that, with the cornonavirus, the NHL scouts just haven't had a chance to see the talent that we have or have coming in....by redice - Hockey
Re: ECAC Schedule - 3 years ago
ursusminor Following up - spoke to an ECAC official who said this is one of the scheduling plans, but league admins haven’t voted on anything yet. — Mike McMahon (@MikeMcMahonCHN) September 25, 2020 Thank God! Re: Incoming Recruits - 3 years ago
Trotsky There's no opportunity cost since nobody else is playing. Except for Morgan Barron.... I'm concerned that, if the Rangers are playing and Cornell is not (even if it's not until 1/1/2021), he'll sign with the Rangers. I don't envision him choosing him NOT playing over playing during the fall months.by redice - Hockey
Re: Season's Over 20-21 (Hopefully) - 3 years ago
Trotsky abmarks Interesting nugget deep in the nytimes article: "and in a sign of how impactful the loss of a season may be on a broad swath of athletes, the Ivy League said it would consider granting a fifth year of eligibility for athletes — something it stood steadfastly against when spring sports were canceled."I think they should say you still only get 4 years but 20-21 isn't aby redice - Hockey

Jim Hyla redice Jim Hyla Added the North Dakota home games and Yale at MSG to schedule, although I hate both of them. Yale doesn't add anything and North Dakota will likely have played at least 4 actual games prior to us. That doesn't include exhibition games. I could easily see us losing both and then having to go all season trying to make up for it, much like 2 years ago. Granted loby redice - Hockey
