Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: 3x3 OT proven silly - 1 year ago
Al DeFlorio BearLover The fans who attend the game do not want to see it end in a tie. It’s really that simple. Bullshit I'm with BearLover on this one. In my world, a tie is like kissing your sister... And, neither of my sisters are appealing to me in that regard!by redice - Hockey

jts15 Saw this on the twitter. Not saying it's true or happening... Cornell men's hockey will play UConn in the Frozen Apple at Madison Square Garden on November 26, per rumors/sources.— Aaron Snyder (@AaronSnyderCDS) July 26, 2022 Yawn......by redice - Hockey

Give My Regards "after receiving $10 million in state financing" Great, so now I'm paying for Union's new arena on top of the Bills' new stadium. I know it makes me all warm & fuzzy.. It feels great to be fleeced!by redice - Hockey

BearLover CU2007 It’s a weird thing with Shane. The numbers are great and stats don’t lie, but he just doesn’t make me as comfortable as some of those other goalies, even those with slightly worse numbers. Maybe it’s some sort of bias. Good numbers, but small sample size. The jury is definitely still out. The jury is not still out with me. IMO, the future of the team rests with the successby redice - Hockey

Damn!! Bad timing for us. We attended the Winnipeg-Buffalo game last evening in the hope that Jeff or Morgan play. No luck. Frankly, that NHL game was a big step down from Cornell Hockey. The excitement & tempo were just not there.by redice - Hockey

Well, at least today's studio crew doesn't include that awful Mike Mottau. He has to be one of the worst!by redice - Hockey

Iceberg Galajda keeping the game close. It's crazy how night and day he is compared to the guys (and nothing against them) we've had in net this year. Yes, I can't help but think that, if he stayed at Cornell, we would be in this tournamentby redice - Hockey

George64 jtwcornell91 Trotsky Iceberg Some kind of bizarre situation with Mankato/Bemidji. OT goal awarded that turns out to not be a goal and the teams have already left the arena after Mankato was crowned as the CCHA conference tournament winner. Game will continue in OT at some pointI guess the Mavs eventually won again. This is really the reductio ad absurdum of this video replay busineby redice - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid roll call - 2 years ago
dbilmes Q outshot Harvard 18-1 in third period. As much as I hate/dislike/detest Q and Pecknold, I give him credit for not being afraid to pull his goalie when the occasion calls for it. I've always felt that Schafer is often too conservative in pulling our goalie when we are trailing in the third period. It paid off on the power-play with 6 minutes left tonight when Pecknold pulled the goalie wiby redice - Hockey

redice The ESPN+ broadcast is lousy today. Audio is up&down in level & video comes & goes. Tbey suck today!!!! I just called ESPN+.... They disconnected my call. I really didn't expect much from them. And they delivered! They clearly do not have their "A" team in LP.by redice - Hockey

Re: 2022 Takeaways - Root for any ECAC-in-NCAAs team - 2 years ago
upprdeck but what if you actually had the actual breakaway stats to use instead of just saying he is bad at breakaways.. I know out goalies stopped a bunch as well even in shootouts.. the bigger issue we dont score on enough of our own and at the end of the year didnt generate very many, I don't have any stats (to back it up). But, Parris Duffus was superb on breakaways! I didn't even worryby redice - Hockey
Re: 2022 Takeaways - longest ECAC drought - 2 years ago
Trotsky DafatoneI think the big thing is more experience playing together and playing at this level. All these guys were the top skill guys in their previous leagues. At the college level, they're still skilled, but they might not all stand out the same way. Gotta get a little more used to grinding. I absolutely think the rest of the team will just continue to gel and develop ESP. The only qby redice - Hockey

upprdeck too bad the review of the goal didnt go our way on the first one.. really came off at a strange angle as well. hard to remember a shot coming from that angle hitting a cross bar and coming off 90% to the bar out the front. of course the one angle that actually could have showed the replay from above they were zoomed in way too close to actually see it.. it had to hit under theby redice - Hockey
Re: Those Who Study History May Be Blessed to Repeat It - 2 years ago
billhoward It was 50 years ago. I saw it from the press box. If you think Cornell's press box looks rickety today, well, it's palatial compared. Plus, you forget stuff. I coulda sworn it was Pettit who scored. But that's like somebody telling me, as an undergrad, about Gil Dobie's 8-0 football team, and they were there. Cornell football, 8 and oh? Right. billhoward Winter-spring 1971: Cornell all-time pugilist Kevin Pettit, like a fire hydrant (only one was taller) with boxing gloves, in overtime, shot from center ice beats Harvard 5-4. IIRC correctly, Pettit needed close to 20 PIM in his final game to break the Cornell record. And did. Three-year totals: 36-80-111--227 PIM vs. 126 points. That was the era when a very good player got 2 points a gby redice - Hockey

imafrshmn Trotsky Colgate sweeps Yale and will face us. Colgate announcer gives a shout-out to "my friend Jason Weinstein," and wishes Mike Schafer a healthy return.
