Harvard (& UHN) keeping us from watching The Red......What a bitter pill to swallow!!by redice - Hockey

The game is on??? On TV? I hear it on the radio but can't find it on any DirecTV channels.by redice - Hockey
Re: Whats going on.....TV??? - 19 years ago
Lots of luck on calling DirecTV!! I recall a few years ago calling them to determine if they were going to carry an NCAA Regional game involving Cornell. Like this year, I wanted to know if I could watch the game at home (on DirecTV) or travel to Ithaca (to watch it on TWC). There was absolutely nobody at DirecTV who could answer the question. I ended up driving to Ithaca Since theby redice - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Harvard postgame - 19 years ago
Great weekend. Am I the only one who thinks O'bryne has been absolutely brutal carrying the puck out of his zone lately? He does a lot of other things well. But, when he's standing behind McKee waiting to start up ice with the puck, I get very nervous. And, it seems to be getting worse; like he's losing confidence.by redice - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 Vermont 0 (1st) - 19 years ago
I'm getting the same thing here. I'm trying to listen to the UVM feed with two different computers, each with a different connection. Both SUCK!!by redice - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 Vermont 0 (1st) - 19 years ago
The UVM webcast is real hit & miss....Unfortunately, more "miss" than "hit."by redice - Hockey
Re: ESPN Classic - 19 years ago
I didn't read your note, Mark, until 9:30. Damn it!!! If anyone does get the CU-BU clips into digital form, I would also like to get my hands on it. Despite my disappointment, I'll offer my thanks to you, Mark, as well. Billby redice - Hockey

Jim, Check out . That's one of the premier places to find a good AM Antenna. Billby redice - Hockey
Re: WHCU. Why? - 19 years ago
Rich, As someone who has tried to follow Cornell Hockey, from down here in the southern tier of NY, for almost 40 years, I can tell you that it's a real problem to get any Ithaca AM stations at night. WHCU is the worst because their antenna array throws a null lobe in this direction. That's the concession that WHCU had to make when they went to a 24 hour operation (a LONG time ago). Re: Cowbell Apology - 19 years ago
Great job Ari. Speaking of the "original" cowbell, didn't somebody (Jeff Kahn??) actually record it and post it (.wav file?) here or on CHDF? I couldn't find it. But, if the original poster could find it and re-post it, it might clear up some of the "original" discussion before it starts.by redice - Hockey
Re: ECACHL website....Oh my god! - 19 years ago
This is definitely a huge leap forward!! Kudos to the ECACHL & CSTV. Looking at all of the interesting things on the Gametracker site makes me feel a bit like "a kid in a candy store."by redice - Hockey

I watched P.C. Drouin Friday night playing for the Fort Wayne Komets of the UHL. He's taking regular shifts on the blueline. I believe he was a forward at CU.by redice - Hockey

Ryan Smart - 19 years ago
I recently encountered a fellow from Meadsville, PA who asked if Ryan Smart played an professional hockey after graduating from Cornell. I dunno!! Does anyone else have the answer? Thanks.by redice - Hockey
NC$$ Thieves!!! - 19 years ago
When I received a credit card bill with a charge for NC$$ Frozen Four tickets, I thought it meant that my name had been selected in the lottery. I now have a high priority number, so that is a reasonable expectation. I talked with a friend yesterday (who does not have a high priority number). He called the NC$$ and found that they charged the credit card account of EVERY applicant for Frozeby redice - Hockey
Re: Goalie Recruit - 20 years ago
IIRC, Chabot was 25-1 the year before he came to Cornell. I don't know anything about the team that surrounded him or the caliber of the competition playing against him. But, a 25-1 record, suggests that he was a winner.by redice - Hockey

And, as one would expect, more difficult to motivate. I don'tby redice - Hockey
Re: Nieuwy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - 20 years ago
The other important and equally unmeasurable point is "the heart" of the players. Ned's teams of the late 1960's were not only talented but played with a fire that we don't often see today. As much as we all admire and respect Mike Shafer's coaching abilities, he's no Ned Harkness when it comes to motivating his players. Ned's teams simply could not stand losing. Re: FF4 '04 - 20 years ago
I received a postcard from the Fleet Center yesterday saying that my ticket order was selected in the lottery and that the tickets will be mailed by 3/12/04. Now we just have to hope that the team is "invited."by redice - Hockey
Re: ECAC final - 21 years ago
I thought I remembered them announcing LeNeveu as "most outstanding player." Is my memory tainted by all of the excitement? If so, wouldn't that put a different "spin" on who is most entitled to the award. The most outstanding player just might not be the most valuable player.by redice - Hockey
Re: Section B - 21 years ago
I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned classless Nolan Graham of RPI. Did anyone see him hacking at the back of Doug Murray's knees in the last minute of the Saturday game. Both players were headed to their respective benches. The play was well behind them in the RPI zone. It looked like a blatant attempt to aggravate Doug's ailing knee. I have to guess that Graham was doing this becausby redice - Hockey

I've been having problems loading elf pages too. And, like you Greg, I found that, if I stop & reload, it goes much quicker. Then, I discovered a strange one: if I double-click on the link, it goes through quickly almost every time. That makes no sense to me. But, it works. I'm curious if anyone else has or will experience this? Is there an explanation for this?by redice - Hockey
Re: Murray's Penalty/NO GOAL - 21 years ago
Actually, CU did once receive a penalty for hats being thrown on the ice following a CU hat trick at Lynah. It was probably 10-15 years ago...it was during a not-very-glorious part of CU Hockey history. We didn't have many hat tricks during that period of time. And, when it happened, it was a pretty wild celebration (similar to last night's). The referee was Peter Dawe (or Dawes). I belby redice - Hockey
Re: Murray's Penalty/NO GOAL - 21 years ago
And how about Trevor Byrne lobbying for a penalty when hats were thrown on the ice for Moulson's hat trick. At that point in the game, DC was obviously NOT going to win. Lobbying for a penalty because the home team fans were throwing hats on the ice was pretty poor! I'm surprised that he wasn't successful. This officiating crew came on the ice with a bug up their a$$. Did anyone notice thby redice - Hockey
Re: Check it out - we finally know something! (warning: moderate geekery factor) - 21 years ago
It's subtle, but it does look like they're re-seeding. The only teams that are mentioned in the semifinals are Seeds 1-4. They either re-seeded or (he says tongue-in-cheek) #5-#12 are not allowed to play in the semifinals. But, like Al said, "this is the ECAC."by redice - Hockey
Re: Colgate 0 at Cornell 3, 3rd - 21 years ago
Well, actually you can get a penalty for moving your mouth too. This ref called way too many penalties on clean hits. I wonder if he's only done women's hockey games (no checking). And just didn't understand the physical side of the men's game.by redice - Hockey
