Re: price of tickets keep going up !!!!! - 17 years ago
Did anyone notice that the 06-07 schedule included with the ticket renewal shows the Oct. 27th game against Robert Morris Univ (if played at an alternate site) to be A) 1PM game (Oct 27th?) and B) "likely to be played on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 1PM". In the unlikely event that it's played on Oct 27th at 1PM, what the hell are they thinking in having a 1PM game on Friday? Why should I beby redice - Hockey

jtwcornell91tvsetHi All, HARVARD is our first MAJOR home game ! ! ! ! ! ! If Lynah ISN'T ready ! ! ! ! Would you like to be the fan that is chosen to lose that game because of seating restrains, through Cornell's devised "will only lose one game" as a SEASON TICKET HOLDER ............................... Re: The Schafer system - 17 years ago
Like you, my first thought (upon the departure of O'Byrne & Polulok) was that perhaps Coach will open up their game a bit. We lost two defenseman who were key elements in helping the offense. So, in effect, we lost some key offensive potential, as well. I'm betting that he'll tighten up the defense to compensate for that loss. If we're successful this season, it will be Schafer's finesby redice - Hockey
Re: price of tickets keep going up !!!!! - 17 years ago
tvsetWow , We don't know where the games might be or if we'll be allowed IN the door ( because of size restraints ). Why don't they just forget " SEASON TICKETS " until the next full Season ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Are you saying that the ticket prices are definitely increasing? I have to admit that administering a season ticket program, for any non-Lynah home games, will bby redice - Hockey

Tough break for the Big Red!! After that game-ending play in Minnesota, I was really down on you. However, your play last year made a believer of me. Good luck, Ryan!! Thanks for the memories.by redice - Hockey
Re: Mark Morris - 17 years ago
joecctCripes! Nice humor and it is in fine spirit of many a Lynah chant flipped towards the opposition. However, facts is facts, Mark got the royal shaft from the (since departed) school administration. He is a good coach who IMO was the victim of a great left wing conspiracy. It was a left wing that he choked? He probably couldn't handle any of the Dby redice - Hockey
Re: CU in Elmira? - 17 years ago
jtwcornell91Liz '05Throw another dollar into the price of the tix with the understanding that it goes towards transportation to the game, if you're concerned about the cost. Or leave the price where it is; Athletics has inflated the cost of tickets over the past few years because demand allowed them to do so. Now I'm sure games played in Elimira will be less in demand, so they can use that extby redice - Hockey
Re: CU in Elmira? - 17 years ago
KeithKLet's hope this is not necessary. CU Hockey belongs at Lynah.Since there's no way that the Lynah renovation will be complete by November, Cornell hockey will definitely be somewhere other than Lynah this fall. The only question is where. As I understand it, if Lynah is not ready, the home games will be played at the First Arena. The location is not in doubt.by redice - Hockey
CU in Elmira? - 17 years ago
In an interview on WETM-TV news tonight: Robbie Nichols, GM of Elmira's First Arena, reports that Cornell is considering playing up to 9 home games at the First Arena this fall. CU has until Sept 15th to make a decision. Let's hope this is not necessary. CU Hockey belongs at Lynah.by redice - Hockey
Re: Alumni Game - 17 years ago
Ned Harkness was introduced along with some alumni who did not dress for the game (Stephen Bâby, Ryan Vesce.....). I looked at the players list from the 2005 alumni game to refresh my memory of the 2006 participants. I'm sure I've forgotten most of them. But, the ones that I recall are: Tony Eisenhut '88, Scott Garrow, Robb Cutting, Ryan Moynihan '00, Dave Francis '02, Denis Ladouceuby redice - Hockey

ebilmes“Sasha is a big, strong defenseman who we are excited to add to our group of young prospects,” McPhee said. “His game has progressed nicely in two years at Cornell and we feel confident that he is ready to take his talents to the professional level.” Is it just me, or is "progressed nicely" not the phrase I would choose? Re: NCAA Rules meeting - 17 years ago
If they're going to use the shootout to eliminate ties, that's bad news for Cornell. Their strength is a strong defensive system and I question whether they will have the snipers that would win shootouts. Since hockey is a team game, I have always felt that shootouts are a less than ideal way to break a tie. That said, shootouts are entertaining (but only when our team wins).by redice - Hockey
Re: Lynah Rink Renovation Blog - 17 years ago
DeltaOne81Cornell's summe 2006 'Communique' features an article on the Lynah renovation. What caught my eye is "expected to finish in time for January home games." Of course, the article mentions that and then says absolutely nothing about what they would do for games before then. I believe that the First Arena in Elmira is the frontrunner in hosting the early 06-07 home games. In Febby redice - Hockey
Re: Tom Joseph - 18 years ago
I was one of the first people to take a radio to the home games. Through my radio, Roy & TJ taught me a great deal about the game of hockey. Roy's play-by-play was extremely accurate. If he told you that the puck was at the top of the faceoff circle to Brian Hayward's right,,,,,THAT's where the puck was....AT the specified time. None of the rest have been as good as Roy in that regardby redice - Hockey
Re: A little fun - 18 years ago
That was interesting...I had tried to forget Chris Moore. He brought a new element to broadcasting hockey- the "mystery whistle." That's when the officials blew the whistle and Chris was absolutely clueless to explain why The last I knew, he had moved onto ESPN. Obviously a late bloomer. That kind of potential didn't show at CU. When "Ives came back for several years&qby redice - Hockey

billhowardMust have been a busy news day for the Journal not to have written more than six Joe Friday-ish paragraphs on somebody who was pretty well known in the community. I'm pretty sure that the "screw BU" cheer started before that NCAA tourney in Boston. It first happened, as Al described it, during one of the four straight ECAC titles (66-70).
