Trotsky Berard becoming invisible is such a difference from the first half of last year. Berard is mostly invisible. Malinski is just not the same player he has ever been. He’s awful, not hustling, and can’t get the puck through traffic. I’m glad we began to wake up at the end. We can’t spot a team two easy goals like we did.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

Trotsky Dump Q, pick up Utica College RIT. CGT/UTC RIT and COR/PRN. Problem solved. FYP. It would suck to have Princeton as a travel partner, but so be it.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

ugarte Scersk '97 What I saw to work on? D-to-D passing was truly atrocious all game long. These pairings need to develop some confidence in each other and zip those passes, because every slow D-to-D pass meant the receiver had exactly zero room to breathe against a Q forecheck that was going after everything. I think this is a long time Schafer issue. The breakout after we get possession inby Scersk '97 - Hockey

abmarks RichH Trotsky They need to stop trying to make "Yell Cornell" happen. It's so embarrassing. (I have no idea if this link will work as intended) worked for me. I didn't realize yell cornell was actually a historical reference. Looking at that album prompted an old memory for me; Yell Cornell also appears in at least one old Cornell song. Trotsky Overall I do not think we played poorly. We played good defense; we blocked tons of shots. Shane was sharp. We held an extremely good Q squad to 2 goals. (Yes, I know, so did LIU). We were overmatched (we were held shotless in the first, which is incredible) but we stayed in the game and with some puck luck we could have stolen points. On the road against the best team in the confby Scersk '97 - Hockey

French Rage It just reminds me of a classier time when men wore suits in the stands and goalies wore top hats during play. Lorne Chabot once played an entire game with a dinner coat on. Some goalies wore two monocles at once as a sort of rudimentary mask.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Cornell football 2022 at midpoint - 1 year ago
Trotsky billhowardHas there ever been a four-way title tie? Nope. 3-way ties in: 66 (6-1: Drt, Hvd, Prn) 69 (6-1: Drt, Prn, Yal) 82 (5-2: Drt, Hvd, Pen) 15 (6-1: Drt, Hvd, Pen) Princeton "prevented" a four-way in 1995 by kicking a last-second, 18-yard field goal to tie Dartmouth and "win" the title outright. We had a chance to win outright but had already "cougby Scersk '97 - Other Sports

RichH You'd have to find someone willing to fire him. They should hire me! I’d fire Archer in a heartbeat. And then I’d promptly funnel all available funds to the hockey team. Bonus: no more Lynah Stasi. They could buy me a sweet pad in Cayuga Heights and call me the CEO of Athletics.by Scersk '97 - Other Sports

George64 wolcoma The reality is President Martha Pollack hates athletics at Cornell. She is currently running many of our sports teams off campus to East Hill Plaza. The Cornell University Master Plan that envisions the Game Farm Road athletic complex is dated 2015. Martha Pollack assumed office in April 2017. The Reis Tennis Center on Pine Tree Road was built in 1993. The train left the sby Scersk '97 - Other Sports

RichH Key-epple Kop-pel Kep-pel Rhymes with “people” ?? My sneaking suspicion is that it's originally Köppel, which would normally be transliterated to Koeppel. Later, it was transformed, intentionally or no, into Keopple. My years-in-the-midwest spidey sense tells me that it will be pronounced Kepp-ull. He's from Wisconsin, after all.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

Iceberg The water fountains in the rink were perfectly functional when I was there in November. Ironic, though, since one would think it would be safer if people drank from their own bottles Given that SARS-CoV-2 is very unlikely to be transmitted via fomites or water, there's really nothing to worry about. Drinking fountains are great, and the only reason they've been shut off is for sanitatioby Scersk '97 - Hockey
USC, UCLA to Big 101112… - 1 year ago
From my perspective as a Michigan grad grad, this is getting absolutely ridiculous. At least they aren't total academic lightweights. (Looking at you, Nebraska.) As an on-again, off-again pretty close follower of Michigan football (only), I'm not sure I will ever bring myself to care about a Michigan-UCLA tilt in October. And the Rose Bowl is now fully dead and gone. Great for the casual fan, I sby Scersk '97 - Other Sports
Re: Ertel to OHL - 1 year ago
BearLover I was not following the team during the year Romano was here, but Ertel was more a power forward than a skill guy. Though he put up unimpressive freshman numbers, Ertel was only 18, and the team as a whole struggled offensively. I think it’s likely he would have developed into a very good player. This is a bad loss given we could have gotten up to three more years from him. It negativelby Scersk '97 - Hockey

Re: Recruits 2023 and beyond - 1 year ago
BearLover In particular, Seger has put up strong numbers on some bad Union teams. Based on his size (6’4), he could be more of a power forward. 3rd in scoring last year; 2nd in scoring his freshman year. Perhaps more importantly, he's clearly not the defensive problem on those bad Union teams. Big kid that can score and play defense, and who will likely be around for two years? RichH BearLover arugula blackwidow Bye bye Ben Forgive my ignorance, but to be clear, this means that Ben graduated in three years? Zach will be back? French Rage Even if Q is good, I don't really, like, care about them. I don't care how their fans, if they exist, care about beating us. Given that, I'd have to place Colgate at #3 because at least they derive some pleasure out of beating us, so I want to deprive them of that, in the way they were deprived of joy when college acceptances came and they had to live with the fact that the best theby Scersk '97 - Hockey

RichH Trotsky I have no idea whether Noel sucks but he has managed to keep Schafer at Cornell all these years. I'm sure there have been poachers. I think I’ve established my theory that the absolute last thing he likes to do is a coaching search. I can think of one time (Lax) where he’s actually fired any coach. Usually coaches leave on their own, and he just promotes from within. (This can beby Scersk '97 - Other Sports

billhoward Scersk '97 John Doerr has absolutely no connection to Cornell that I can ascertain, just in case anyone was wondering. Nor with Stanford: Rice bachlors (ca.
