Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: WOW!!!!(team Statistics) - 19 years ago
Schafer must have the officials in his pocket, because everybody knows that Cornell only can play "clutch and grab."by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: ECAC 10/30-31 - 19 years ago
I think the CHA wins are something of an aberration, too. Niagara has 3 of them, two against UVM. Niagara has historically been the most competitive of the CHA in OOC games. But with the exception of Clarkson, the CHA has played the weak sisters of the ECAC (and we may learn that Clarkson fits that description as well). I was at the Huntsville-Princeton game last night. Re: Scheduling on USCHO - 19 years ago
I can think of one. Let's say you're a new program trying to attract fans, and you wind up with an arena full of Lynah Faithful. Can you say Bright Hockey Center?by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: Any Suggestions? - 19 years ago
I bought a Cornell replica uniform for my nephew at Lynah last January. They were selling them in the anteroom in the Athletics building outside the horseshoe end of the rink. I don't know which organization was selling them and as I recall they didn't have many.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: 10/25/04 poll - 19 years ago
Maine will be there but not necessarily because of their skill. More so because the rest of Hockey East - other than BC and possibly UHN - isn't going to give them much competition. HEA just seems weaker from th emiddle down this year than in the past.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: PWR, RPI, KRACH, etc. - 19 years ago
Oh, if only it were that simple. It's important since Cornell is usually a bubble team, and we'll probably be one again this year. To even contemplate that we could make another run like two years ago is just a little unrealistic. On top of that, the ratings were important for seeding in the tournament. Remember the whole 1 vs 16 blow-up? It matters. You can wish it didn't, but it does.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: Interesting results - 19 years ago
Al DeFlorio Wrote: Some interesting results in interleague play thus far. That's an understatement, Al. One wonders wheter Niagara is that good, or Vermont is that bad. Probably a little of both. And I'm starting to get a bit nervous about SLU. They're big, they gave us some tough games last year, and they're off to a good start so far this year.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: If the Sox can do it, how about Cornell? - 19 years ago
If Cornell beat Harvard in the semifinals of the ECAC tournament, we'd all be thrilled, but we'd also know that it wouldn't mean as much if we didn't win the final. Same thing here. No curse lifted until they win the series.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Flyers' Hitchcock now Princeton asst. coach - 19 years ago
I heard part of an interview with Hitchcock this AM on WIP (Philly's SportsRadio station). He said basically that he's going stir-crazy with the lockout and needed something to do. He added he was impressed with the players dedication to academics. He's also going to do some work with the Trenton Titans (ECHL) and added that if the lockout doesn't end soon, he may show up and help coach somby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Age, I'm with gtsully. It does look very crimson. If you don't like true Carnelian, I'd stop at the color you have on this page. I wouldn't go any darker. One thing I do on my background screen is to use pure red but put a pattern (scales) over it. It dampens the brightness of the pure red.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: Rule enforcement - 19 years ago
In the short run it will affect us just like everyone else. We'll get more penalties called on us and our opponents. In the long run, it's too early to tell. Our game is not based on obstruction, our game is based on size and puck control. If the other teams aren't allowed to hold and hook our guys when they're cycling down low, that helps us. However, if the refs start calling open ice chby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Ticket Line - 19 years ago
I think the first time they moved the line indoors was '81. Also remember the ticket sales took place over three days back then. The first day only seniors could get tickets, the second day added sophs & juniors, and the last day anybody could get tickets. And knowing there were fewer tickets available kept the size of the line down. I don't understand why they changed that. It workedby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: Cornell v Hahvahd (sucks) in the NHL Labor Dispute - 19 years ago
It's not just one man's opinion. They had Al Morganti on "Daily News Live" the other night on Comcast Sports Net (Philly). He basically said the same thing: Much of the problem, especially when it comes to marketing and bad TV contracts, is on Bettman's shoulders. He also noted, that when Bettman does step in and force a deal, the result will be a soft cap at around 40 million, wiby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

"Driving while oriental" which in the PC world should be "DWA". Not to be confused with "FWA" - Flying while Arab. And taking their cars away is not that much of a burden on seniors as you might think. My dad was forbidden from driving while undergoing chemo last year. He got on with his life just fine.
