Re: Wieckowski GETS A SHOT WITH ATLANTA! - 21 years ago
Krzysztof is just fighting for a training camp invitation. If the Thrashers like what they see, they can send him to the minors, where Krzysztof can gain experience and provide organizational depth. It seems like a win-win situation to me. I believe Krzysztof can have a career in the ECHL and AHL as a defensive forward. Remember, he's just 21 years old.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: article about recruits - 21 years ago
The Brampton Capitals listed Jon Gleed at 195 pounds last season. I have no reason to believe that his listed weight is less legitimate than anyone else's.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Same Underhill? - 21 years ago
Big Red Apple, although the excerpt I lifted from the Central Scouting Service and pasted onto the Player Progression thread didn't say it, I believe NHL teams retain the draft rights to players who stay in college. I don't know the specifics regarding the post-graduation deadlines NHL teams have for signing former college players before the players become free agents.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Player Progression - 21 years ago
The Central Scouting Service site is up and succinctly explains the draft eligibility rules. As ursaminor explained above, players who opt into the draft forfeit their NCAA eligibility. That's what Rick DiPietro did prior to the 2000 NHL draft. I'm pasting the draft eligibility rules here: Draft Eligibility Beginning with the 1980 Entry Draft, all 18, 19 and 20-year old North American and nby cbuckser - Hockey
Fourth Class of 2007 recruit - 21 years ago
Chris Heisenberg's web site has been listing another recruit for the fall of 2003. Byron Bitz (6'4", 204 lbs., born 7/21/84) will play another season for the Nanaimo Clippers before coming to Cornell. If all goes well, he'll be one of four former Clippers on the 2003-04 roster (Greg Hornby, David LeNeveu, and Shane Hynes are the others). The Clippers' web site is under construction, so Iby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: NHL draft - 21 years ago
Also, Jean-Marc Pelletier played many more games in the Q in 1997-98 than he would have if he had stayed at Cornell and shared goaltending duties with Jason Elliott. Because Dave LeNeveu has the chance to be the #1 goaltender at Cornell for the next three years, staying in school is a more attractive option for him than it was for Jean-Marc. Changing the topic away from goalies, the Devils drby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: NHL draft - 21 years ago
Thank goodness the Coyotes recently acquired Brian Boucher to be their #1 goaltender of the future. According to faceoff.com's draft preview, Coyote management feels that Boucher and Patrick DesRoschers will adequately man the pipes after Sean Burke skates off into the sunset. Hopefully, Phoenix will be more patient with Dave LeNeveu's development than with former first-round pick Krys Kolanos'by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: NHL draft - 21 years ago
The Hockey News projects that Dave LeNeveu will be drafted in the third round (THN has ranked him #78 overall). This is the Central Scouting Service's evaluation of him: "Possesses strong skating ability with good balance, quickness and athleticism … has very quick lateral movement and uses a controlled butterfly style … has a fast glove hand … plays a sound positional game, effectively stby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: LeNeveu Invited to Canada's World Junior Summer Camp - 21 years ago
That is great news for Dave LeNeveu and his development as a goaltender. If he makes the team (four goalies were invited to camp, and I'd guess three will go to Halifax), the Big Red will not have his services for the Everblades College Classic (vs. Maine, and UMass or Ohio St.) and the North Country trip. Our goaltending depth will be tested, but it will be a big opportunity for Louis Chabot aby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: new recruit? - 22 years ago
I haven't been to Manitoba to scout Louis Chabot, but I culled a little information about him on the web. Louis is the second goaltender on a great hockey team (I hope that we'll say that about him at Cornell, too.). Louis was on the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's all-rookie second team. He posted a 25-2 record (top winning percentage in the MJHL), 2.43 GAG (third in league), .909 save percentby cbuckser - Hockey

Send an e-mail detailing all of your addres changes since you ordered Frozen Four tickets to Paula Wustrack <pwustrack@ncaa.org>. My priority applications have been getting lost in one of my four address changes, but hopefully she has arranged to send the 2003 application to my newest address. It took her a couple of weeks to respond to my initial e-mail message. She did tell me that shby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: HOW DO CORNELL'S RECRUITS STACK UP? - 22 years ago
Although Chris Heisenberg's web site lists Jon Gleed at 6'1", 165 pounds, the Brampton Capitals this season listed him at 6'2", 195. He's not the small defenseman he used to be. (I remember Gleed's size was mentioned on a discussion thread many weeks ago.)by cbuckser - Hockey

If the assistant referees did not wave off icing at the end of yesterday's game, there would have been approximately two seconds remaining to try to score off the offensive-zone draw.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Next year's schedule - 22 years ago
Four of the nonconference games have been settled for some time. We play two home games against BU. I heard those games will be scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend, but I don't know how accurate that information is. We'll play in the Everblades College Classic after Christmas again. Maine, Ohio State, and UMass-Amherst will join us in Estero. I don't know about the other three nonconference gby cbuckser - Hockey

Re: The actual GAME against Harvard - 22 years ago
So long as the referee keeps control of the game (which Hansen did on Saturday night), I do not believe that calling the game by the book and creating a parade to the penalty box is preferable to a hands-off approach to officiating the game.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: NCAA Games on TV? - 22 years ago
Here is the latest from the NCAA: NCAA Productions will produce all eight regional contests and syndicate each game for interested local TV stations and regional sports networks. Fox Sports North will be the flagship station for the 2002 NCAA Division I Hockey first- and second-round games. Additional local station clearances will be announced during the week of March 17. Re: Moy/Blaeser this week - 22 years ago
Although I need to finish packing, I'll take up the invitation. I agree with Jayson and Becky. When I watched the BU series on tv (take my comments with a grain of salt because this weekend will be the first time I am seeing the Big Red live this season), I felt like Cornell in the first game was able to skate with BU. Watching Saturday's victory over Yale on tv convinced me further that the Bby cbuckser - Hockey

Kevin McLeod is the youngest player on the Kodiaks. I'd expect his scoring to improve next season. McLeod's youth may also explain this answer: >The person you would most like to spend one hour with is? >Brittney Spears In addition, McLeod's junior team lists him at 6'4", 200 lbs.
