Re: Broadcast priorities - 21 years ago
For all hockey purposes, it would be great to get TSN and CBC on the dish (despite the broadcasts of those lame CBC made-for-tv movies that end up on the Lifetime network). Not being able to see Canada's medal-round games disappointed me tremendously.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Phoenix, Carolina swap goalies - 21 years ago
I can't read the minds of anyone in the Pheonix Coyote organization, but I hypothesize that the Coyotes promoted Jean-Marc so he could work with goaltending coach Benoit Allaire. Last year, Jean-Marc went 21-12-4 with a 2.57 GAA and a .921 save percentage. This year, Jean-Marc is 6-10-0 with a 3.55 GAA and an .898 save percentage. Perhaps the Coyote scouts concluded that Jean-Marc's numbers weby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: YES rebroadcast now over -- results ho! - 21 years ago
The NHL Center Ice schedule on dishnetwork.com or directtv.com has not listed any of the WJC games. As of now, my satellite dish's programming guide (Dish Network) is saying that the Finland-Russia game will be broadcast at 3pm EST on channel 547, but is not listing the Canada-USA game. I'm afraid that Melissa is right about this being a broadcasting rights issue. And, I can't get YES Networkby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: YES rebroadcast now over -- results ho! - 21 years ago
I expect that the NHL Center Ice package will broadcast the USA-Canada game. But, I don't know for sure that this will be the case. I sure hope so. Anyway, you should be able to watch the game at a sports bar if you cannot wait until midnight.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: 12/30 Polls - 21 years ago
In the rankings that matter, Cornell is #2 in RPI and #3 in PWR. Cornell's strength of schedule will worsen throughout the course of the season as the team plays the ECAC schools having bad seasons. On the other hand, the team may finish the conference playoffs with one of the best winning percentages in the country. (Right now, Cornell has the 4th best winning percentage. Re: Phoenix, Carolina swap goalies - 21 years ago
I guess Patrick DesRochers is no longer the Coyotes' goaltender of the future. I hope the Coyotes are satisfied with Sean Burke, Brian Boucher, and Jean-Marc Pelletier playing in goal over the next two and a half seasons so that they are pleased with Dave LeNeveu's development at Cornell and do not entice him to play professional hockey prior to April 2005. I also hope the Coyotes give Jeby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: CAN v. FIN - 21 years ago
Marc-Andre Fleury reportedly missed practice yesterday due to an upset stomach. (There is no truth to the rumor that he ate at Pizza Hut following the Canada-Germany game.) With a win or a tie, Canada will finish in first place in Group B and advance to the semifinals. Going into the tournament, Finland was expected to be Canada's toughest opponent in Group B. NHL Center Ice subcribers who have Dish Network can watch the Canada-Finland game on channel 549. TSN's tv coverage begins at 7:00 EST. The game should start ten minutes later.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: CAN v GER, LeNeveu starts - 21 years ago
From my vantage point in my living room (watching on tv), I don't think Dave LeNeveu ever saw the puck that ultimately went behind him.by cbuckser - Hockey

Re: next 2 years in Estero - 21 years ago
I agree with Greg. Over the last two seasons, the Everblades College Classic has had the deepest field of all the NCAA holiday tournaments, and the next two tournaments have the potential to be as impressive. Playing a challenging interconference schedule benefits the hockey program.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: WJC on tv - 21 years ago
TSN's tv coverage of the Canada-Germany game, which Dave LeNeveu will start (as noted in another thread) begins at 2:30 pm EST. The puck should drop at about 3:10 EST. The game will be broadcast on channel 543 on Dish Network. I don't know which channel the game will be broadcast on Direct TV.by cbuckser - Hockey
Condolences to the Kariya family - 21 years ago
In case you have not heard, Tetsuhiko Kariya died suddenly on Friday. My heart goes out to the Kariya family. I cannot fathom how Paul and Martin played for the Mighty Ducks and Black Bears, respectively, tonight, only one day after losing their father.by cbuckser - Hockey

The Center Ice Package is broadcasting today's Canada-Czech Rep. game. TSJ's coverage begins at 1:30 EST. If you have Dish Network, the game will be on channel 540.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Jerseys question - 21 years ago
I'm very pleased with my home white Koronis jersey. It appears to me to be a perfect replica of the jerseys worn from the late 80s through the 1995-96 season.by cbuckser - Hockey

As Peterg notes on a different thread, the NHL Center Ice package is broadcasting tonight's Canada-Sweden game. The game can be seen on channel 549 on Dish Network.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Back-up goalies - 21 years ago
Louis Chabot's numbers at OCN have suggested to me that he can flourish as a backup goaltender on a team with a stifling defense. (Chabot backed up Marc-Andre Leclerc, who posted even better numbers than Chabot. LeClerc, if I recall correctly, is two years older than Chabot.) Keep in mind, however, that I've never seen Chabot play, so I cannot subjectively evaluate his abilities. Leclerc waby cbuckser - Hockey

According to the Victoria Salsa web site, Ryan O'Byrne is 18 years old, 6'5", 210 lbs. His hometown is Victoria, BC, and his ambition is to play in the NHL and get a business degree. According to the Nanaimo Clipper web site, O'Byrne has played in 28 games and had 4 goals (including 3 power-play goals), 8 assists, and 95 penalty minutes. Cornell has recruited players from O'Byrne's teamby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: gametimes - 21 years ago
Yes, Ohio State and U Mass will play at 4:00 pm. Finally, R.J. Umberger and Dave Steckel will play for OSU in the holiday tournament. They played at the WJC in 2000 and 2001.by cbuckser - Hockey
gametimes - 21 years ago
Laura Stange has kindly informed me that the Cornell-Maine game is scheduled for 7:30 pm EST on Saturday, December 28. As I write this message, USCHO's schedule correctly notes the 7:30 scheduled start time. The games the following day are scheduled for 4:00 and 7:30.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: hmmm. what could this be? - 21 years ago
Team Canada has left open the possibility of not declaring a single starting goalie for the WJC. Frankly, if I were coaching the team (in an alternate reality in which I would be remotely qualified for the job), I would have Fleury and LeNeveu alternate through the four round-robin games. If, after the two exhibition and four round-robin games, one goaltender emerged as superior to the other, Iby cbuckser - Hockey
NCAA debuts - 21 years ago
Hopefully Todd Marr and Louis Chabot can make NCAA debuts as successfully as Jason Elliott and Matt Underhill's debuts. On Nov. 12, 1994, Elliott stopped 37 of 39 shots in a 3-2 victory over Vermont at Lynah. In the same building four years later, Underhill stopped all six Vermont shots he faced in relief at the end of a 5-3 loss on Nov. 21, 1998. Underhill made his first career start at Matthby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: [More TV] ECAC deal - 21 years ago
The NESN website tonight lists the new slate of games to be broadcast in March, but deleted the initial set of ECAC tv games in January and February from the broadcast schedule. If tonight's listing on the website is accurate, the Feb. 22 Union-Cornell game will not be televised. Hopefully, the deletion of the January and February games from the tv schedule is just an error.by cbuckser - Hockey

Re: [More TV] ECAC deal - 21 years ago
Awesome!!! I'm looking forward to watching the Cornell-Yale game from my own living room om March 1. It should be a great matchup. Does this package supplement or replace the original slate of games set to be televised on NESN? The NESN site lists the January and February broadcasts (including the Feb. 22 Cornell-Union game), but not the March broadcasts announced earlier today.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Back-up goalies - 21 years ago
Providing no previous playing time to Todd Marr or Louis Chabot gives Cornell one noteworthy advantage heading into the Everblades College Classic: Maine, Ohio State, and U Mass have no scouting report on either goaltender, so our opponents will not know which corners to try to pick. Think of all the times a rookie goaltender has a very successful NHL debut but recedes to mediocrity after teamsby cbuckser - Hockey
What a holiday tournament! - 21 years ago
For the second straight year, the Everblades College Classic--in only its third year of existence--features the strongest group of four teams of all the holiday tournaments in the country, in my opinion. This year's field is: Maine (#2 USCHO, #1 USA Today, #2 RPI, #2 PWR, #2 KRACH) Cornell (#3, #3, #1, #1, #1) Ohio State (#11, #11, #5, #7, #7) UMass (others receiving votes [#17 USCHO &by cbuckser - Hockey
Check the calendar - 21 years ago
Undoubtedly, the December 28 game against Maine is a big game. It would have been fun if both teams were to meet at full strength; however, great holiday-tournament matchups are often affected by WJC participation. That's the nature of the beast. There is a decent chance that Cornell and Maine will meet again in the NCAA Tournament. The results of that game would matter infinitely more thanby cbuckser - Hockey
