I suppose no one in Canada would have a clue if it were called New Haven Pizza. been there, done that...over rated. Re: Overated - 15 years ago
What is your problem with Green and Gold? Just upset about the losses last year to Clarkson, or ??? And what does that have to do with an opinion on New Haven pizza? NH pizza is overrated in the opinion of nearly everyone in our group who had it a couple of times in the past several years. Of course, were spoiled having had the superior NYC and NJ pizza.by Rich S - Hockey

mnagowskiBut Bulldogs always look pissed off, they can't help their facial muscles. A bear exuding cool, calm, collected confidence? Now that's unique. I gather you've never seen a Bulldog smile? To a doglover, it's quite a pleasant sight. Oh, and my HS mascot was a bulldog.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: NCAA Regionals, Saturday March 29 - 16 years ago
The UM guy got 2 for embellishing (diving) after Paquet's dumb penalty (something he is very adept at) but U-M could well have had two minors for diving as he embellished his reaction to both hits. Agreed...see you in Albany. That would be much more fun than the Colgate-Prin semi I sat through, although PU did play very well. They deserved the auto bid.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: NCAA Regionals, Saturday March 29 - 16 years ago
FWIW, it was actually 6 on 4 I believe, not 6 on 3. And they hit a post then missed a wide open net. But whatever. The real killer was in the first period when Tech had the better of the quality scoring chances and couldn't bury a single one with Sauer out of position. The ineffective PP was their Achilles heel all season and it cost them Sat eve. U-M was there for the taking but Tech neby Rich S - Hockey

French RageI like this game because one crappy NCAA performance history will have to end. quote] I agree that not having won a title is disappointing but being runnerup thrice should eliminate Tech's "NCAA performance history" from being dubbed "crappy."by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Cornell Harvard (Semifinal) (End of 2nd period) - 16 years ago
Al DeFlorioSperrisGame over, 3-1. Tough game to lose. The first and third goals felt a bit weak. How about the second, when Scrivens didn't hold the post? (A la LeNeveu in Buffalo) The second was very weak. No way a goalie should get beat from that angle (one stride above the goal line). Watching it live, you could see that the immediate deflating effect. Other than that I thought Scrivby Rich S - Hockey

BeeeejJeff Hopkins '82Regarding stolen cheers, nothing is new under the sun. ...and the "black hole" cheer, sad as it may be to admit it, from Hahvahd. Though they did it differently, IIRC - they would yell, "Hey, Cory, you're not a goalie, you're a sieve!" then stop... as much as a minute later, they'd do, "Hey, Cory, you're not a sieve, you're a funnel!" thenby Rich S - Hockey

Jim HylaDpperk29Jim HylaDpperk29lynah80Dpperk29so is everyone still calling for Schafer's resignation? sounds like Cornell dominated 'Tute... Seems your boys had a tough time away their little barn this weekend. Brown 4-3 in overtime and 2-5 against Yale? yeah... not really sure what happened in southern New England. it is totally unacceptable to lose like that to Yale. Sounds to me lby Rich S - Hockey
Re: Cornell 7 RPI 1 (postgame) - 16 years ago
Ralph, I fully expect that RPI will play very well on Sat eve against Tech. I'll be there watching closely.by Rich S - Hockey

But...a hit to the head is a foul. That's true at the college level and every level below that. Sounds like the refs did not see that but a reviewer did.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Clarkson Viewing in NYC - 16 years ago
On Sunday, Mike gave us one TV but no audio although I think he would have during the late stages of the third period when the football game was over or nearly so. There were about 6 or 7 Tech fans there among hundreds of Big Blue fans. Have been going there for about 12 years to watch our annual "Satellite Broadcast" which is now defunct with the advent of ESPN-U. And also NCAA plby Rich S - Hockey
Re: Clarkson skates 3 1/3 lines in Florida Classic - 16 years ago
Trust me, I am MORE concerned with the Clarkson forum. That doesn't preclude me, as a college hockey fan, form reading or posting on this forum. Similarly, shouldn't D1 fans be interested in the endowment of a coaching position at other schools? Recently, the opinion expressed here was that fans on this forum wouldn't care. That surprised me. I opined that that the punishment of having tby Rich S - Hockey
Re: Clarkson skates 3 1/3 lines in Florida Classic - 16 years ago
It's actually a far greater punishment for a player to be required to attend the game and WATCH it from the stands when he's not allowed to play. Perhaps you should be more concerned with cornell's disciplinary issues.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Stout - 16 years ago
I think that anyone who is an avid hockey fan can certainly tolerate the "diversion" of NFL football. After all, it is a sports bar, at least in some respects. STOUT was packed when my wife and I got there before the NYR game on Wednesday but I get another shot on Sunday with my Stella Artois-loving buddy. Re: BC at Harvard - 16 years ago
sah67Rich SWere you on time when Ned was honored at Lynah? I sure was, but I didn't feel compelled to announce the ceremony on the Round Table though Then perhaps someone beat you to it. I think there are enough "old-timers" on this board who remember Lenny Ceglarksi both from his years at Clarkson and following that, at BC, his alma mater. He certainly coached Tech in memorablby Rich S - Hockey
Re: Stout - 16 years ago
Josh '99Rich SThanks! On a Sunday at 5 PM, it shouldn't be as crowded so maybe we'll try it. Any place that shows college hockey is worthy of at least one visit. Bear in mind that there will be three NFL games going on at 5pm on Sunday 12/30 (though no marquee matchups). Thanks. That's not a problem. The NFL is but a mere pleasant diversion when I'm having a bite and a beer with a buddy bby Rich S - Hockey

Re: Stout - 16 years ago
Could someone who has been there, perhaps before the Red Hot game, give me a quick review? I've never been there but am considering going (with a fellow Golden Knight alum, of course!) before the Rangers' game on 12/30. A comparison between Stout and The Molly Wee, which I'm very familar with, would be helpful. Thanks!by Rich S - Hockey
Re: BC at Harvard - 16 years ago
Am looking fwd to seeing Jerry York's return to Tech when BC visits Clarkson on Jan 5. Will be interesting to see how many BC fans travel. Former Clarkson and BC coach Lenny Ceglarski will be honored before the game. One of his former players, retired CEO of Bell Canada, Jocko MacLennon has endowed the hockey head coach's position with a large donation. Should be a great Knight to be therby Rich S - Hockey

Re: 2003 game at MSG? - 16 years ago
I did not realize there was a college game played at MSG in 2003 as mentioned in the Ithaca Journal story. I had thought the last college game there was in '76 or '77. Who were the participants?by Rich S - Hockey
Re: MSG Marketing (or lack thereof) - 16 years ago
That's not it, really. The game, including the marketing, etc is a production ofthe two schools, not of MSG so they are not responsible for marketing efforts. They're basically just selling tickets. That said, there was a link on the Rangers website for several weeks to Ticketmaster plus many in-game ads on their radio broadcasts for the game. Who paid for the radio spots, I don't knowby Rich S - Hockey
