Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Could Cornell be a host team? - 15 years ago
RatushnyFanIt's a really nice arena. And they do a decent job of keeping it clean nearby. A little bit of a hassle to drive and park there (mostly after the game, trying to get out) even with the standard less than a full house of fans. The way they're playing the last couple of months people should get on board. I've heard plenty of people complain about going to The Rock. The most imp[ortby Rich S - Hockey
Re: Cornell-RPI Postgame (Game 1) 3/13/09 - 15 years ago
Dell was one referee last night, right? Criticim of his work has been a near-constant for many years in the ECAC. I've seen him loose control of a number of games over the years. If he has ignored the directives of Stewart, that's a problem and Schafer is properly upset. But that said, let's not lose sight of the fact that the style of play Schafer was critical of in his comments were aby Rich S - Hockey
Re: Third rate...lol - 15 years ago
DeltaOne81ugarteRich SHis "third-rate" comment is so ridiculous that I'm still laughing over it. And bringing it up. And obsessing over it. Even though my understand is he never actually said that. "Obsessing?" Hardly. only commenting when it was brought up in jest earlier. Your understanding is incorrect. He said, in part that he had worked for the biggest tech firmby Rich S - Hockey

The refernence was brought up elsewhere earlier in this thread by someone else.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Third rate...lol - 15 years ago
Josh, If you're referring to your comment re: Clarkson being a second rate tier school connected to Subway, that deserves no comment other than it's laughable. Maybe you should seek an opinion from the Subway spokesperson.by Rich S - Hockey

you can look at the archives I suppose, or simply take my word for it. His "third-rate" comment is so ridiculous that I'm still laughing over it.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - March 2009 - 15 years ago
BCrespiYes, and Chara was clearly giving him a lot of the credit for the goal. He definitely pointed at Bitz and rubbed his helmet when they came together to celebrate. There aren't too many guys in the league that can make Bitz look small. Among those that Chara has made look really small is Tech's '97 grad Todd White. Whitey was generously listed as 5' 10" at the time he and Chara wereby Rich S - Hockey

Nice game by Bitz. He learned well at cornell. I wouldn't be too hard on him for having contributed to a Rangers' goal. Watching on TV it was easy to see that Fernandez was brutal in the Bruins' net and was weak on at least three goals. As one of the announcers commented on NBC, "they have to get better goaltending than that." Hmmm...that means we'll see a lot more of old friby Rich S - Hockey
Re: RPI comes to Lynah - 15 years ago
Scersk '97There are no easy games. Blah, blah, blah... But I think we have to be very pleased with this result. Though I think we would've handled, say, Union easily, Quinnipiac (Wong-ful), Clarkson, and Colgate could have posed problems. To my eyes and ears, we seemed very much in control of both games with RPI. That being said, go Union or Quinnipiac. However much I might like to seeby Rich S - Hockey

Your comment only serves to strengthen my statement. To clarify, I liked the irony of the Subway reference in the context of a school that shares Subway's colors.Clarkson IS the official second-tier tech school of Sby Rich S - Hockey

martyDpperk29Rich S Ha hah...it's sad that the only colors you can appreciate are white and red...or is that "carnellian"? So sad yet so very true... I think we appreciate all the colors in the box. I think you should try thinking outside "the box."by Rich S - Hockey

I didn't say I didn't understand it. Let me rephrase it. Your comment was pointless. Now go back to sleep. Schools are closed here so Im doing just that. Perhaps your mind could use some extra rest, eh?by Rich S - Hockey

Marty, you're the master of brilliance. I eagerly await your frequent inane trashing of RPI and Union. And what is your point in your post above?by Rich S - Hockey

martyRich SMarty,Thanks for the sarcastic response. As others here would say.."typical." Had a couple of surgeries between early Nov and mid December (the 2nd was an emergency) and since then less time and energy has not allowed for posting here. The return has nothing to do with Clarkson's recently improved record. More focused on work!...Cheers! So that was a hospital ID tag tby Rich S - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Clarkson Postgame Thread - 15 years ago
martyRich SJason, Avoiding the Roundtable is your choice, no one there is chasing you away. If Goldie's posts upset you, they you're thin-skinned. The stuff you guys direct at me here doesn't upset me but then, I'm a former goalie so not much does. Too bad you couldn't afford a mask or helmet. Wrong again. In my time, I spent my share on a quality mask. Never thought I'd need itby Rich S - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Clarkson Postgame Thread - 15 years ago
JasonN95 And if you're not stirring the pot, what are you here for? Are you posting something that you sincerely think will be interesting to Cornell hockey fans or college hockey fans? Pretty much all I ever see from you are "no I'm/we're not, you are!" posts. It appears that you have either selective memory or selective vision. I've posted many comments that SHOULD be of interestby Rich S - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Clarkson Postgame Thread - 15 years ago
Sorry for the confusion there. My bad. What I meant was that the exchanges between the bands in 2006 playoffs and on my prior vist, (perhaps 2003?) were less in number and in "violation" of the rules than in '97 and '99. In the playoff game I attended in '06, the stuff directed at spectators in Section O and to a lesser degree the band was clearly audible and visible. And tastelby Rich S - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Clarkson Postgame Thread - 15 years ago
The game I attended was so intense on the ice that I wasn't paying any attention to anyone being tossed. The chants, especially and gestures were hard to miss.by Rich S - Hockey

Re: Cornell-Clarkson Postgame Thread - 15 years ago
Profanities and obscene gestures...that should be clear enough. Heard and saw them as recently as 2006 playoffs, directed at Section O. Much more recent than a decade ago.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Clarkson Postgame Thread - 15 years ago
sorry to disappoint you with the responses. Sometimes that "can't take it" phrase just fits, as is often the case with the crowd here.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Clarkson Postgame Thread - 15 years ago
In both '97 and '99, the two bands engaged in a "battle" in which both played over the other several times including well after the puck had dropped. Cornell's band chanted tasteless cheers at Section O throughout and made similar gestures. You can use your imagination. Band behavior on both sides was better in my two trips to Lynah since then, the last being in the '06 playoffs.by Rich S - Hockey

Re: Cornell-Clarkson Postgame Thread - 15 years ago
Chris '03Rich S As for complaints about the bands behavior, I've witnessed the home band at Lynah break the rules often... No you haven't. Good try though. In fact, I have beginning in '97. That included those directed at Section O spectators as well as the Clarkson band.by Rich S - Hockey
