Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Cornell-Clarkson Postgame Thread - 15 years ago
Jim, I've experienced the antics, profane and otherwise tasteless, at Lynah several times in the past 10-12 years. As offensive as the crowd at Cheel may be, and I've been there several times when school is in session over the same time period, I believe it's fair to say that you have little or nothing to complain in comparing the two. I'll be in the NC this weekend for the home and homeby Rich S - Hockey
Re: North Country Roll Call - 15 years ago
Eben's Hearth is a good choice, Food is good I recall having a very good steak (or was it prime rib?) there a few years ago. One or the other may still be their Saturday night special. And you can't beat the location for proximity to Cheel. Their bar is small but friendly and it's a small place overall so as mentioned, get there early. If you venture to downtown Potsdam, the old standbyby Rich S - Hockey
Re: Other ECAC action 1/2 - 15 years ago
We can always count on the ECAC for surprises. I had a feeling Tech would pull off this upset, although one NC win does not a season make. Let's hope the other league teams also come through.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: OB back in the Habs line-up - 15 years ago
Dpperk29RitaIt would be an interesting sight to see OB and Martin St. Louis battle in front of the net (or even along the boards). how is that even a battle? I think little guys can do very well in pro hockey, but battling along the boards and infront of the net are two spots where size does matter. Little guys tend to do better buzzing around, seeing the flow of the game and knowing where toby Rich S - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 Clarkson 1 Postgame - 15 years ago
jtwcornell91Josh '99 I know - it probably wasn't clear that I was actually just taking an opportunity to take a shot at Irvin, not actually excusing the Eagles fans. And what Giants fan could pass up the opportunity to insult the Eagles and the Cowboys? Jerry Jones does a fine job of insulting his own team all by himself. He doesn't need our help, although it is amusing.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: chant - 15 years ago
FWIW, I remember the chant being directed at a Clarkson player during the playoff series a couple of years ago. That's the one that cornell won in two straight double OT games.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Lynah East - 15 years ago
I expressed my opinion on them earlier in this thread. Maybe you should read more carefully.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Lynah East - 15 years ago
Jim, The fact is that Al started the flaming by labelling Clarkson a "third rate Tech school" which is a grossly inaccurate assessment. If you object to me pointing that out, take it up with Al.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Lynah East - 15 years ago
ahhh....so you like to mock "third rate" Tech schools? That's funny except that your boy Al is way off target with his assessment. Better that you should mock a "third rate Ivy."by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Lynah East - 15 years ago
why the need to mock, other than because it's Harvard. That type of intro has been commonplace in sports for many years. It's not my taste but I certainly do not mock it.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Harvard Hockey - Trouble in Paradise? - 15 years ago
Thanks, I appreciate your allowing me to exercise my freedoms.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Slamming Harvard - 15 years ago
ugarteRich SMe thinks it's y'all who are constantly slamming Harvard who are "paranoid." But keep it up if it makes you feel better. Slamming Harvard isn't paranoid, it is petty. Slamming Clarkson is neither paranoid nor petty; it is cheap fun. A few of us have a pool where we bet on how long it will take you to respond, how angry you sound and how many rolleyes your response contaby Rich S - Hockey
Re: Harvard Hockey - Trouble in Paradise? - 15 years ago
Beeeeej, Guess I misinterpreted Swampy's post. I was with you until that "paranoid" comment. Me thinks it's y'all who are constantly slamming Harvard who are "paranoid." But keep it up if it makes you feel better.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Harvard Hockey - Trouble in Paradise? - 15 years ago
SwampykaelistusHere in Boston, I've certainly heard of Clarkson professionally. In my experience it has a pretty good reputation, and the Clarkson software engineer's I've worked with have all been excellent. Harvard software engineers, however, have not. So there. Sorry, this post is an error. Of course it's an error. It doesn't slam Clarkson's hockey team or its academics and grads itby Rich S - Hockey
Re: Harvard Hockey - Trouble in Paradise? - 15 years ago
ugarteRich SugarteSwampyWell, the list actually goes up to 55 (Drek Tech -- now that will start a war), but my Firefox browser must be broken. When I search for Clarkson, nothing comes up. You will find them, however, on the unranked recommended programs page. Unless it is your sincere belief that Clarkson is a mediocre school - and I think you are merely engaging in RichS baiting* - please cuby Rich S - Hockey
Re: INCH: ECAC Hockey Season Preview - 15 years ago
The last comment is a bit of an exaggeration but the point is valid. I think Shea's game matured and improved late last season and am confident will see a more team-oriented approach this year.by Rich S - Hockey

Re: Clarkson website...yes there is one...lol - 15 years ago
Thanks for the "education." And also for the arrogance which I can always find here, on the site of a lower tier ivy.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Clarkson website...yes there is one...lol - 15 years ago
What's "in rut" mean? Aren't you guys supposed to be consumed with the rampant cheating at Harvard instead of me? And since you're worried, I never set foot in the Cheel locker room when Nickerson was there. Only the cornell co-eds were allowed in.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Clarkson website...yes there is one...lol - 15 years ago
Up until a couple of years ago, Al was a fairly regular poster on the Clarkson website. I recall his postings were sometimes negative towards Tech. But he can tell you more about that.by Rich S - Hockey
Re: Nonsense? - 15 years ago
Al, You have not done a good job of "staying out of this nonsense." You previously called me "sick", said I was "ranting," and suggested I see a shrink in NJ. More to the point, you're engaging in revisionist history. I recall your referring to Clarkson as a "third rate" tech school that you, employed at the time by the 'biggest tech company out theby Rich S - Hockey
Re: Harvard Hockey - Build a Website for Clarkson? - 15 years ago
billhowardAl DeFlorioRich SHis academic exploits were legendary. Plenty of evidence from that time. HS classmates of mine who knew him as well as my brother who did. Isn't it sad that someone can be so obsessed over Cornell that, nearly forty years after the fact, this absolutely irrelevant bullshit about Marinaro continues to be brought up? Is this sick, or what? Isn't there a good shrinkby Rich S - Hockey
