Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Trotsky's Fantasy Post-Season - 4 years ago
It's not clear to me how this affects simulations, but Cornell suffers from having to play mediocre competition in the ECAC. Clarkson isn't bad, but after that -- blah! It has nothing to do with this, but yesterday I enjoyed watching the 1990 RPI-Cornell ECAC semifinal which Sean Pickett uploaded recently. It made me realize again one of the reasons why I used to despise Cornell. I did notby ursusminor - Hockey

I never understood the comments from opposing fans about Troy. Very few RPI students actually live there, and we have a similar opinion about it ourselves. As to Adessa being fat, Shafer isn't exactly svelte although he has lost weight.by ursusminor - Hockey

Re: Trotsky's Fantasy Post-Season - 4 years ago
I liked the result of the RPI-Harvard series on the USCHO forum a lot better. Here is the Cornell summary: Princeton @ Cornell - Game 2: The Big Red looked to put away the Tigers in game 2 of their quarterfinal series in the ECAC. Cornell got off to a great start, as Tristan Mullin put the Big Red in the lead on his snipe midway through the first period. Mullin then added a second goal oby ursusminor - Hockey
Re: Trotsky's Fantasy Post-Season - 4 years ago
Beeeej ursusminor Cornell also won a simulation on USCHO as did the other three home teams. Princeton @ Cornell - Game 1: The Big Red took it to the Tigers in the opening game of this Best-of-Three series. Cornell used two goals in the opening frame, from Cam Donaldson and Morgan Barron respectively, to take a 2-0 lead, and that would be all the Big Red's Junior Netminder Matthew Galajda woby ursusminor - Hockey

BMac And for the third time ever, we end the season on a win. (I thought we needed a new thread?) Trotsky can probably easily look it up for Cornell, but this would surprise me. Before the ECAC tourney started in the early 60's, I would be surprised if they did not end the season with a win at least once. RPI ended this year with 4 wins, and I knew that we ended 1984-5 championshipby ursusminor - Hockey

BearLover upprdeck COTY is subjective in many ways RPI went from 7-13-2 / 10-23-3 to 12-8-1 / 16-15-2 Cornell went from 13-5-4 / 21-11-4 to 17-2-2 / 22-2-4 so RPI went up about 5 games in the league and 6-8 ish over all cornell went up 4 games in the league 9 less losses overall Which is harder to do, go from not very good to .500? or from pretty good toby ursusminor - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 4 years ago
I certainly agree that it is subjective. You are correct that what Cornell did is harder. The question is how much did the coach have to do with it. Both schools benefitted from the fact that the middle eight teams in the ECAC this year are all very mediocre. That is shown by where they all sit in the PWR. RPI is still in the upper 30's. There have been other years when I thought that an Rby ursusminor - Hockey

marty scoop85 ursusminor Lynah East seemed like Houston East (a.k.a. Beaumont) on Friday. Granted that the Harvard fan(s) had little to cheer about, but it certainly sounded on the broadcast like RPI had a larger presence than Harvard. marty Trotsky Owen Savory of RPI won ECAC goalie of the week because Galajda did not allow negative goals. Savory was masterful on Friday and looked great on Saturday too. I felt bad when he lost the shutout. I think he'll be a factor next year as will RPI. As he improved this year RPI's scoring and defense have improved as well. Re: Zamboni Gig in Toronto has Perks - 4 years ago
Swampy Jim Hyla ugarte Robb That gives a rather perverse incentive. You’re winning 3-1, goalie goes down. You come in the game and your team goes up 4-1. You now have an incentive to let the other team score 2, so that your 4th goal becomes the winning goal. Strange.this is only an incentive to the very dumbest goalie Who, I suspect, would not be in the league for very long. What if thisby ursusminor - Hockey
Re: Zamboni Gig in Toronto has Perks - 4 years ago
ugarte weird that he didn't have a hockeydb page since the article says he played for the laredo bucks (but hockey db doesn't have him on their all-time roster). so now he has a hockeydb profile that looks like he fell out of the sky into the nhl, which isn't totally untrue and kind of perfect. French Rage RPI is 8-3-1 in ECAC play in 2020, with 2 of those losses against us, since the new year. I'm wondering if they're getting hot come ECAC tourny time. Swampy BearLover Calling a hockey game is extremely difficult. I thought he did a fine job for a student. RPI looks better this year. I wonder, do students calling games have faculty, or at least professional, coaching? A little extra study of the pronunciation page and other pre-game preparation would be a great help. But I agree, otherwise a fine job for a student. That's an excellent qby ursusminor - Hockey
