Re: Game thread - 2 years ago
ACM ursusminor In regard to RPI not changing goalies, I am surprised as much, if not more so, than the Cornell posters here. The same thought was posted by many on the game thread on USCHO. RPI has three goalies on their roster, Linden Marshall and Brett Wilson who travelled to Ithaca and Jack Watson who did not. Because of the ECAC's travel squad limit, it's typical to take two goalies on roby ursusminor - Hockey

FWIW, it appears that the last time RPI gave up as many as 11 goals was on 2/22/86 in an 11-0 loss to Harvard, the year after winning the NCAA championship. Conceivably my eyes missed a more recent game. Edit: RPI also lost 11-0 to Clarkson on 11/22/97.by ursusminor - Hockey
Re: Women at RPI (Nov 13) - 2 years ago
Trotsky RPI (2-5-0) scores 49 seconds in and our women (2-4-1) look really bad. I guess we are rebuilding from La Peste. RPI is attempting to rebuild from La Peste and a winless season in 2019-20.by ursusminor - Hockey

upprdeck on the flip side since hockey is also a fan sport.. Talked with kids at multiple schools the last few days and they love the 3x3 and shootout. Most fans do and there are far more casual fans than hardcore. if you remove the PWR issues it is fun to watch for many people. I think that is the logic, namely that they are trying to please kids and those who are not hardcore fans. Such peoplby ursusminor - Hockey

Re: Opponents and Others, 2021-22 - 2 years ago
Give My Regards Trotsky I assume from context they meant to put RPI 7th, but who knows? I will give the writer the benefit of the doubt and suggest that he is predicting the on-ice results will put RPI 7th, but some improprieties will be uncovered forcing the Engineers to forfeit a few games and placing them 9th. ( 1/2 ) No doubt that the improprieties are due to Shirley Jackson, RPI's Presby ursusminor - Hockey

Re: ECAC preseason poll - 2 years ago
underskill Weren't Howe and Shane fairly well regarded goalie recruits? Have they just not developed as expected? They would've needed to recruit a successor to Galajda even had the pandemic cancelation not happened last year. FWIW, Neutral Zone ranked both at 3.50 stars which is mediocre for D-I hockey players. See . Two years ago, Howe played in the BCHL which is considered an offensive lby ursusminor - Hockey

Trotsky ursusminor FWIW, The RPI Red Army picks Cornell third. Written like a true engineer: Some may be surprised to see Cornell only in 3rd after 2 straight Cleary Cups, but they definitely belong to be here. I had to read that twice myself. Does that mean I am not a true engineer? Wait! I am an Engineer, not an engineer.by ursusminor - Hockey

Re: Cornell 2021-22 season prediction - 2 years ago
Trotsky ithacat Trotsky upprdeckIt could be 8 teams all compete and its a pretty close league. That's my (just as valid as anyone else's) guess. I voted 4-6 in the poll. It wouldn't surprise me if we finished 7 or 8. If we finish in the top 3 Schafer gets to be a god alongside Ned. I didn't vote as I can't even begin to guess until seeing the roster. The goalie position scares the hell outby ursusminor - Hockey

Nope. Try Andrew Perrott, Ryan Beck, Ryan Humphrey, and Brendan Hoffmann.by ursusminor - Hockey
Re: Recruits beyond 2020 - 2 years ago
I knew that his name sounded familiar. Because he is on the same team as RPI recruit Tyler Hotson, I noticed that Mike Suda is in the PBHHInvitational Tourney. His page . The tourney is supposedly designed to allow OHL players who didn't play all year to be seen by NHL scouts. BTW, P, B, H, and H are the first letters of the last names of four people involved in the tourney.by ursusminor - Hockey
Re: Schafer's salary - 2 years ago
billhoward * It has to be competitive at least not insulting. Ned Harkness was making, what, $14,000 when he jumped ship from RPI for Cornell. although that's $120,000 in today's dollars. Or was it $7,000 he was making? Are those figures supposed to be what he was making at RPI or what he received at his start at Cornell?by ursusminor - Hockey

Trotsky Beeeej Jeff Hopkins '82 blackwidow Bardreau called up to the Islanders for the playoffs. Makes sense. The AHL season ended yesterday. Go Cole. Beat the Pens! ...except that article is from last Tuesday, and Cole didn't get any ice time yesterday. But maybe he'll get the nod soon.He was not on the roster as of yesterday; maybe there was a problem with his call-up? I'd loveby ursusminor - Hockey

Re: Recruits beyond 2020 - 3 years ago
Jim Hyla Regarding combined boosters for flu and COVID, I doubt it, at least for next year. You may well want to get your booster from the same manufacturer. If so that basically eliminates combinations. Even if that's not true, and there are current trials of getting your first shot from one manufacturer and second from another, the storing conditions for flu and COVID are certainly different fby ursusminor - Hockey
Re: Recruits beyond 2020 - 3 years ago
Al DeFlorio Jeff Hopkins '82 Not to mention that these higher transmissibility variants means a higher percentage vaccinated required for herd immunity. IMO, I think we're going to be dealing with "boosters" for a while, too. Just read on a cruise forum that the UK is planning on doing annual shots a la the standard flu shot. Hopefully it can just be added to the annual flu shot.by ursusminor - Hockey
