Although the act of writing this probably makes me a facetimer... The only other place besides this forum I've ever seen the word used was in the "Student Handbook" that CU issued. As a facetimer, I still managed to find my copy. There are 3 index references to facetime in that publication: - In the "Cornell Glossary and Alphabet Soup Decoder" section, "Factime"by rhovorka - Hockey

Taken slightly out of context, it’s possible to say that Saturday night’s press conference included a discussion about the importance of always having strawberry preserves handy. Hilarious. An excellent writeup.by rhovorka - Hockey
Re: Straight from deep throat - 20 years ago
Really doubting this info from Swebaron. The hit to the face of Gleed happened Friday night vs. Brown, and he was in the starting lineup Saturday vs. Harvard. He played quite well too.by rhovorka - Hockey

Re: Drumroll, Please - 20 years ago
As long as CU gets a win, I really don't care about that streak. I'd rather have a 6-5 win than a 0-0 tie. After all, I could've easily mentioned something else that really would've had people beating on me in a similar manner.by rhovorka - Hockey
Re: Drumroll, Please - 20 years ago
Fun Fact: Brown hasn't scored a single goal at Lynah Rink since November 12, 1999. This means that nobody on their current roster has scored in Ithaca. (do what you please with that). I have a hunch that will change, but I really hope it doesn't.by rhovorka - Hockey

Well, I was curious to seeing how the Cornellians who already broke into the NHL are doing: Joe Nieuwendyk (TOR): 12 GP, 3 G, 3 A Brad Chartrand (LAK): 15 GP, 0 G, 2 A However, Kent Manderville turned up missing in the usual player search for this season. Looks like the Penguins didn't sign him for this year, and I just found this. He'll be playing in Sweden: And as a bonus, the Kings haveby rhovorka - Hockey

Re: Ivy League booze? - 20 years ago
One thing to remember about Hot Truck's delivery/phone order decision. They don't have the luxury of having dorms full of hungry freshmen 50 feet away anymore. They have to be able to make their presence known and cater to the new blood. At first, I was appalled too, but how many freshmen, unaware of the greatness of Hot Truck, would walk all that way? And because of the West Campus constructby rhovorka - Hockey

I'm pretty sure that Joe's changed owners at some point, which probably led to the demise. Now it seems the default place to go for nice-informal dining is the Boatyard Grill. From what I heard the Boatyard was opened by the old owner of Joe's. By the lake, nice atmosphere, good bar, and pretty good food the times I've eaten there. Re: Goalie Comparisons - 20 years ago
I'm siding with Age on this one. The first thing I noticed about watching McKee is that he is very confident and very good about handling the puck. Not only in going back to play the puck, but he had a great poke check after a wrap-around attempt in the 2nd WMU game. Maybe he'll goof and make a mistake someday. But until then, I'm much more comfortable with him doing it than I was with Underhby rhovorka - Hockey

Re: CU - Clarkson post-game analysis help - 20 years ago
Even more cryptic is how the game report ends: Throughout the third, Schafer mixed up the lines, partly because forward Dan Pegoraro left the game late in the second period. "There was a necessity to find nine to 10 guys that wanted to actually work hard consistently," Schafer said. Wow. When Jayson started off as the ECAC correspondent, there were fans from around the league ready to lynch him every week based solely on his predictions. Some people I knew were a tad bit obsessed with him if he didn't pick Cornell. It was almost amusing. Re: Goalie gets a T for an EAG GTG? - 20 years ago
While we're on the subject of "what if"s....say the goalie is out of position and the puck comes back into the slot where an opposing player takes a shot on goal. A defenseman dives and "saves" the puck. How does that get scored? Is it still a shot on goal? If the game is a shutout, does the goalie get 27 saves on 28 shots? And it helps to quickly answer questions like "how many minor penalties did O'Byrne wind up taking last night?" I went to the uscho.com boxscore on Sunday and didn't find my answer. Just a few weeks ago, I went into the eLynah db to prove that Greg Hornby became more disciplined down the playoff run. I find penalty information valuable.
