Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: 1967 All Tournament Teams - 22 years ago
According to the 1967 All-Tournament team was: G-Ken Dryden, Cornell D-Harry Orr, Cornell D-Walt Stanowski, Cornell * F-Mike Doran, Cornell F-Tom Mikkola, Michigan St. F-Jim Quinn, Boston U. I don't think they've ever named a 2nd All-Tourney team...someone correct me if I'm wrong. Having 2 All-tourney teams would be weird given the small number of teams that make it. Yeah. He's actually not a bad writer. I'm pretty sure that the now infamous column was written with the purpose of trying to light a fire under any potential Harvard hockey fans that were lurking in the student body...to try to educate them on how to act in a potential trash-talkin' feud. I have a feeling he underestimated our online fervor, and our desire to find anything that would representby rhovorka - Hockey

OK...then I won't worry about haulin' the band ladder slightly uphill.by rhovorka - Hockey
Re: HARVARD SUCKS! - 22 years ago
Response from Chris: we're pretty sure the ladder is 8-feet, and the band room will be open from 4:30. I can bring the ladder up to Lynah at 4:45, and meet the sign-hangers. LGR, Hahvahd SUCKS!by rhovorka - Hockey
Re: [Offtopic] Pats v. Rams - Can the Pats cover the spread, let alone win? - 22 years ago
From the karma aspect of sports, look at the recent events. Mariano Rivera blew a World Series game. Brown beat St. Cloud and UML in back-to-back weeks. Nobody thought the Pats would beat the Jets/Dolphins/Raiders/Steelers. It seems that the more a "lock" a game has been recently, the more likely the upset will happen. And the Rams with their Tecmo Bowl offense are bigger favorites tby rhovorka - Hockey

Well, I know that the band room in Barton Hall has a ladder about that height that the drum major stands on to conduct during football season. I may be presumptuous in thinking that it would be OK to borrow it...I'm just an alumnus and don't have access to that room. But I do know Chris, the pep band head manager, and I can ask him if we can use it. He usually has the band room open for reportby rhovorka - Hockey

I can make it to Lynah anytime on Friday to help put the sheet up, if you need it. The talk about signs and such made me remember that for The Game in '97, the Lunatic put out a fake issue of the game program that matched the actual program page for page and sold it outside of Lynah. Besides it being one of the funniest thing I've ever seen the Lunatic do, it contained a clip-out sign as a jokeby rhovorka - Hockey

Errr...that's Clarkson's Mike Walsh. (see how editing would help?)by rhovorka - Hockey
Re: Remote Control Sieve Clarification - 22 years ago
Having witnessed the chants at both ends of the ice (my regular seats are in H, but I've been around my old home in A several times), it seems that the purpose in B is different than the purpose in D. Sections A-B tend to perform the traditional "remote control" by announcing/commanding the goaltender's neurotic routines. This includes any tapping, sweeping, drinking, etc. and endsby rhovorka - Hockey
Re: Cute Hating Harvard article - 22 years ago
I would tend to disagree that HU players feel otherwise. Watching their reaction at recent games makes me think that they do care an awful lot about this game...even if it is just in response to our fanaticism. Watch their pile up after the OT goal at Bright on eLynah (errr...wait...we're in eLynah). And what's a "Harvard fan?"by rhovorka - Hockey
Re: Showing Support - 22 years ago
Showing major support? Great idea...signs are good. I'm thinking with the "Big Red Country" sign, the only place you could hang it and keep it visible while not blocking anyone's view would be below the scoreboard on the East wall. Where the "Spirit of the Red" banner used to be. You'd have to get there early on Friday and obviously ask the rink staff's permission and helpby rhovorka - Hockey
